I love this breakdown! I am a catechumen and trying to get a better idea of what a icon/prayer corner is and would love a deep dive video - also, is there a rug there because you are meant to stand when you do the prayers? How is the prayer rope used?

Also curious about how you use veils at home/church because it seems that most women don’t use them during liturgy at the church I attend - only a handful. What’s your take on veiling at home/church?

That’s wonderful, glory to God on your catechism! ☺️ As far as having a rug, it’s not really necessary. I mostly just put it in my icon corner to add some extra comfort while standing/ doing prostrations and to break up the room a little bit. And then with prayer ropes, typically you would start by holing one knot between your index finger and thumb and say, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.” Then repeat the process.😊 I believe that there are other prayers you could say as well, but the Jesus prayer is the most common.
As far as veiling goes, I do veil at church and at home. I grew up doing it at church so it’s what feels most comfortable to me. I recently started veiling at home because I figured our home should be a “little church,” and I must say that I do like veiling at home too. For me, veiling seems to make me have an easier time focusing on prayer and on Holy/spiritual things. Also, I like how when I veil, I look like the other women saints and the Theotokos. I know that veiling can be controversial and in fact, I use to really dislike veiling as a child. 😅 But as I got older, and I grew in my faith, I now feel convinced that veiling is the best for me. So I always veil while praying except for the prayer before and after meals.
Sorry for the long winded responses! I hope this makes sense and maybe helps. May God bless you!!☦️😊
