This segment showcases Seth’s interview skills. Lange is not used to the late night show experience and she seems very shy. Seth was respectful and gracious and helped this fine actress through this experience in a way that acknowledged not only Lange’s stature, but also how to have some fun. Saw Lange in Long Day- fabulous-and in a theatre ladies’s room of a play she was attending. She’s beautiful and talented. ❤
She just exudes something that modern actors do not. It's from growing up in a different era, for one. But she probably always had this glow on her own.
She's not a 'difficult interview' but verry timid/shy. Clearly, she truly likes Seth on a personal level because she's super relaxed & warm here (verbal & non verbal). Absolute class act, warm, gracious etc...and you'd NEVER know how massively successful her career has been award wise. She's UP there with Meryl!
Ok, I am going to leave a dumb comment here. But I'm also super stoked for vos expéperience dans le vingt d'avril. 4-20 durr hurr hurr. Again, desole. But I had too.
🌈 Back in the day she was dissed by the critics for having no talent when she did King Kong which was her first feature film. She is a legenend & I Luv her in AHS. She has the charm & allure of old Hollywood ❣
I had the great privilege of seeing mother play in preview. There’s no question it is a difficult play for all actors (only three) because as she said it is a “marathon.” If you have the chance, I highly recommend it. It is a hard play for anyone who has had familial trials (who hasn’t) and particularly for queer people like myself. All three do a fantastic job balancing each other. Seeing Jessica’s incredible breakdowns on stage… screaming, crying, emoting, is a gift I will carry forever. It isn’t in production for long, so it’s particularly special. I believe this should truly be mandatory viewing for every parent, especially those of gay children. Stunning work by Paula the playwright and the cast. Forgiveness, understanding and closure are all key in the story of Paula’s life played out on stage.
Jessica Lange and Meryl Streep are two actors that feel like unicorns to me. Both exude humility, grace and, above all, a level of authenticity that very few actors possess. I would love to have a conversation with either woman, not about acting but about life, the human condition and the world in which we cohabitate.
She is the embodiment of Charm. She has a way of opening & widening the hearts of those she interacts with. I enjoyed sensing Seth’s heart expanding. This is a beautiful interview. Nothing but love for Jessica!
She looks a bit frail and needed assistance. She was clinging to his arm. Also those heels must be hard to walk in at her age (they would be hard to walk in at any age).
Seth is such a better interviewer than Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel. He has an ease that I think helps make the guests comfortable. He also manages the flow of conversation much better and doesn’t constantly interrupt them.
Completely agree about Seths interview skills. He's also unique as a talk show host who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the craft of acting. He seems genuinely interested when talking to any guest and not just making sure to hit promotional beats.
What Jimmy F does is not interviewing. Jimmy K does bad interviewing. Seth comes from a more informed place and of course, is an experienced improviser. ❤
seth has a great way of interacting and conversing with his guests. it ends up feeling like i’m listening to two people having a very funny and interesting conversation, instead of other hosts who tend to ignore what the guest just said and move onto the next scripted question. he embodied what a good host should be doing, not just asking questions but listening and responding. he gets people to reveal interesting things that you don’t get from other interviews
Jessica Lange is my favorite actress, and one of my favorite persons ever. I can´t even describe how much I adore this woman and she never stops to amaze me. I can`t wait to see the film version of long day's journey into night into the night and i hope she gets a Tony for Mother play, an Emmy for Feud: Cappote VS the Swans and an Oscar for long day's journey into night. This year seems to be one of the best for Jessica and she deserves all the awards. She is brilliant!!! and not only that, she is also one of the MOST GORGEOUS WOMEN I HAVE EVER SEEN!! her beauty is ageless!!
I’m so happy he brought up KING KONG.😃 Other than one time, it’s not a film I ever hear her talk about. I LOVED that movie as a child. She had me crying my eyes out at the end with “Don’t put me down! Don’t put me down!” And then when she was screaming at them as they were shooting him!💔 It was such a joy to see her talk about the movie here.😊 This was WONDERFUL!
@donna8243 … That was a brilliant portrayal as Patsy. A favorite of mine, too, along with Blue Sky, Crimes of the Heart, Frances, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Cousin Bette, Men Don’t Leave … whull, you get the picture. 😄
I saw Mother Play last weekend, beyond!! Incredible performances, story is great and relatable, and Jessica is well, phenomenal. If you see it, which you should, you will be amazed by Jessica’s long scene alone. It is magnificent.
I was very young for KingKong, but loved it, but maybe more the gorilla more than her. Bawled at that ending. But loved her in Frances. Amazing performance. Watched it several times as a teen. And few times since. I haven’t seen AHS, not really my thing, but generally see anything she’s in. Such a beauty and great presence.
i do not think she is underrated. she is well respected in her community and by the public. one of our greatest living actresses. too bad i am across the pond, I would have loved to see har in a play
1981...Postman Always Rings Twice....this lady has ALL the skills. Acting, emotions, and oooh... & as sexy as can be. Have enjoyed everything that I ever saw her in....mostly because of her. A very fine actor, a very fine lady....'nuff said.
I love Jessica Lange, truly a brilliant actor!! ❤️✨I would love to see this play, it sounds amazing! And Jim Parsons! Would love to see them act together!
I saw Jessica Lange in King Kong when it was in cinemas at 8 years old. I was absolutely in love with her as an actress and the movie. The most sensual, sensitive performance i'd seen
She's created her own legacy . What an amazing achievement. People thought she would disappear after King Kong but Nope 2 Oscars and a great career thankyouverymuch !
I had the pleasure of seeing Ms. Lange in Long Day and she was unsurprisingly wonderful. She definitely deserved that Tony award. Plus, it had a great cast altogether: Gabriel Byrne, Michael Shannon and John Gallagher Jr. I think they managed to edit it down to 3 h 45 min plus a 15 min intermission, so it came in at exactly 4 hours. I think I was just awestruck at how they did that 8 times a week. And thanks for talking about King Kong. I think it was the very first thing I ever saw her in. It's hard to believe she was only 27 in that role.
Loved meeting Jessica years ago, when she approached me at a fundraising event. So gracious and kind. She even had Sarah Paulson take our photo, class act...💜
Great interview! I wish it was longer. If only they had time to talk about Jessica's performance as Truman Capote's mother in 'Feud.' She was just amazing in that role. Of course, she's always great. She didn’t have a lot of screen time on the show, but when she is, she immediately stills the show from the rest of the incredible cast. Which shows what a great actress she is. In an episode, she would only be on screen for maybe 2 minutes, and she stills the scene. Sometimes, you'll only remember her scenes cause she's so damn good. Beautiful and a brilliant actress!
She is definitely one of the best of today or ever, she has that classic star quality, without being full of herself, like many before her or today! And I love that she still looks like herself, instead of going for plastic surgery or a ton of makeup! She is a natural beauty and is still as beautiful today, because she has aged gracefully, but also very well I might add!
How many times did you watch the episodes she was in during Apocalypse? I know I’ve rewatched just her return to the Murder House many, many times. I know she is not from the South but she killed it so hard as Constance that every time I see her in an interview I somehow am surprised that drawl is not what comes out when she speaks.
@@RosieYogi40 I TOTALLY agree!!! Constance is BY FAR my favorite character that Jessica's played on AHS, although I LOVED her as Elsa Mars in Freak Show, too!! Now, I truly couldn't even BEGIN to count how many times I've watched Murder House (i own the whole season on dvd! yes, i'm one of THOSE nerds!🤦🏻♀️😬😉), but to be honest, they were losing me a little bit with Apocalypse(the idea was great, but i feel like it could have been so much better!😒🤐🤫)... I definitely watched it when it was on, but I was a little disappointed in it (her couple of episodes were FANTASTIC, of course, though, imo!😬What did you think?)!🖤✌🏼💙
@@christycarter746 I own seasons 1 and 3! For Apocalypse I tend to rewatch her episodes in specifically or I end up fast forwarding a lot. I did like hotel even though she was not in it. I watched the first 5 seasons religiously but couldn’t get into the vibe with Roanoke or Cult. I tried to stomach the most current season but I can’t stand Kim K. Season 10 was meh but damn I love Macaulay Culkin.
She's an acting class of its own and a treasure of cinema. From "Frances" to "Music Box", to "Cape Fear" to "Feud", she just dominates each scene she's in. Sending love from Iran.

There’s an air about this woman where I just get drawn right in. Such am incredible force on screen and completely mesmerising off screen
She not only an Oscar, Tony and Emmy winner. She’s an icon and legend herself, literally
And Golden Globe

And also he's really charming. Great interview.
Grey Gardens with Drew Barrymore was fantastic! JL is a gem.
??? But she has been a famous actress for so long im sure she's been to many to these late night shows
She is very accustomed to late night shows.
She's been a favorite to me favorite since the postman always rings twice.
She was most excellent in Feud, Bette and Joan.
She just exudes something that modern actors do not. It's from growing up in a different era, for one. But she probably always had this glow on her own.
Check out Ruth Wilson. She has this same sort of dignity to her, a classy demeanor.
Growing up in Northern Minnesota may have had something to do with it. Salt of the earth people. She still considers it home.
It's actually the opposite, she always looks and sounds modern and contemporary. Humble and thoughtful, but absolutely relevant.
She's not a 'difficult interview' but verry timid/shy. Clearly, she truly likes Seth on a personal level because she's super relaxed & warm here (verbal & non verbal). they are close friends too. you should search up meryl praising jessica's peformance in the movie sweet dreams
I am flying from Paris to New York to see miss Lange on stage on April 20th which is Jessica’s birthday !!!! Can’t wait !!!!

Jessica Lange is an American treasure and such a talented and extraordinary actor and classy woman. So nice to see her on your show.

Beautifully said
Her voice, Her activism, and Her filmography is remarkable, she is truly is an American Icon!
That is so sweet how Seth walked out to greet her.
Love Jessica Lange!
She looks a bit frail and needed assistance. She was clinging to his arm. Also those heels must be hard to walk in at her age (they would be hard to walk in at any age).
She had been in a wheelchair recently due to a break - leg, ankle, I’m not sure.
