@@AfricanSunProductions yes. All good. I'd like to add... if I hunted cape buffs it'd be hard to say which of those two I'd prefer. (No need to downplay that busted horn- that's his glory, his battle worn weapon. I would've loved more fuller views of it. Same with the bullet strikes to understand what it took to finally conquer those two old fighters. Usually the camera off plays those things.) Probably I'd come back for both. They'd be magnificent side by side. Approx what does a hunt like that cost (US)?
Yes, I usually off plays the bullet holes, make my channel nice and clean. I don't like to show too much blood etc. These are magnificent and they'll be together in the hunter's house someday. I appreciate little gore. My perspective is that we can see the strikes- how effective were they? How tough indeed is the animal? How crucial is placement, fine or general. What caliber and did it go thru or is the buff so tough it can absorb that caliber at that range with that placement? How difficult is placing a good shot under those various conditions? The guides always say "good shot!" but what does that mean, is it really or just bs'ing the hunter? What angle was the shot(s) anatomically speaking and how far did it travel, respond, retain vitality with that wound. Most of these questions and more we can answer for ourselves if you show impact/exit locations, with maybe a little discourse. For potential future hunters this is VALUABLE data, critical to success and safety and cannot be found anywhere. I know you don't want to embarrass anyone by showing it took what might seem too many strikes but that also shows the ruggedness of the animal and difficulty of the hunt. Super and I were both carrying (and using!) Chapuis .470 Nitro Expresses. We absolutely love those rifles. You cannot beat a Chapuis for quality! I hope you get to use yours soon for Cape buffalo. It is immensely satisfying to take a buffalo with a classic double rifle!
To be honest my friend I found it quite emotional. I wish those people who criticise hunting could understand the actual kill is not the end all and be all, you could see how you touched the hearts of your clients, superb.
Thank you, much appreciated. I also wish more people would understand what hunting does for wildlife. I try to educate people and have some success, but many people just don't want to understand.
Always great to see your videos Martin. It was a pleasure to meet you at Comre this July. Keep doing what you do. You are truly the best in the business!
Rarely do you see a hunter lean over a dead animal and rub the hair on the side of its head back smooth before focusing on horns. The way this couple demonstrated their respect for the animals is a testament to their understanding of life and death, not a demonstration of how they decide which one killed the “largest set of horns”. As far as the guide service and their staff, I would assume from this video, they as well care more for the customers and respect the wildlife many times fold compared to a guide service that only focuses on money and horns. How many people have seen a guide holding a lady’s hand for safety rather than the means for a picture to put on their website?
You noticed the one thing I wanted to showcase in this video: Care. The people I work with care for wildlife, care for conservation and care for the hunters helping to fund conservation. These two guides (Super and Nikus, from Jannie Otto Safaris) are some of the best I've had the honor of working with. Later in 2022 the Deckers will again hunt in Africa, this time in Zambia. I'm very sad that I'm already booked on another hunt and have to send some of my qualified cameramen, I wish I could join them on another epic adventure. Thank you for watching and for noticing what many don't.
I'm happy to hear that you enjoy the videos so much. The only way we can get you to join is when you book a hunt for yourself. Let me know when you do that, I'll be happy to join you!
Congratulations on completing your hunt for the Cape Buffalo. Well known to be shock absorbers for even well placed lead! I shook and trembled when you shook!! But I shook more at that congratulatory drink to toast your hunt!! The hell with your gun! What on earth was that drink??
Haha, that can be a rough drink. I prefer it with a bit of Whiskey but anything will do. Only one shot of booze, about three times as much Sprite, or Mountain Dew I guess, if you are from the States. Give it a whack and it will foam up. We call it "African Sun Eno's" Well, I added the African Sun part...
Absolutely amazing work ASP! One of the best videos, if not the best, I've seen in a long time! Excellently capturing of the ambience, mood and emotion of the hunt not to mention the great shooting! Well done Tim & Jan!
Thank you very much David. I try hard to show ALL of the hunt. The shot is only a small part of it. It means a lot when others enjoy my work, thank you again.
Yes sir! Very tough. If your first shot is perfect, you can get away with only one shot but usually even on a perfect shot you keep on shooting until the bull is down. They have a tendency to get back up again and then they don't run away, they run for your and that's never nice.
To be honest I'm a cameraman, even after all these years filming hunts I still don't know the ballistics of all the cartridges but I do know that your PH / Guide will have the recommendation that he feels comfortable with. On the .375 HH, with my limited knowledge, would say yes it's enough. It is very important where you put that first bullet though. With bigger calibers your margin or error is bigger, you can get away with a shot that is a bit off. My opinion is that you shoot the rifle you shoot best, put the bullet where it needs to go and get more shots off quickly.
Hello! Lions are around, but no tigers and bears in this area, luckily. We do get snakes but we always keep an eye out for them and don't really have issues. Thanks for watching!
Halo!
Imagine the stories told over wine tasting…recounted tales of the hunt and the “mighty” hunters? Some people just needn’t go! A photo safari is often more appropriate! How can you consider yourself a hunter if you have to be hand led over terrain, have your rifle packed and loaded, or cannot even support your rifle? Really? I love hunting, conservation, and animals but too often it seems these clients are just looking for bragging rights amongst their peers and I don’t know how they can consider themselves “hunters”…when I see this, the accomplishments loose their luster! The same way a 100 person queue, below Everest’s summit, dulls the “accomplishment”…these people are all probably very nice, noting against any of them…but, I cannot fathom being the least bit ‘proud’ of these trophies, knowing how one goes about bagging them! Sir, You do a marvelous job of filming these excursions! I also very much appreciate them being available to watch and fuel dreams of the future! Please don’t take my criticism too seriously…
In return I appreciate your support and your comment, in some instances you may be correct but not in this one. Apart from the fact that these are amazingly great people, they accomplished many things that people half their age cannot. Many people half their age might be physically able to hunt but don't have the mental strength to be successful. Tim had surgery 5 days before flying over to Africa. He should have cancelled but said he'll make it work no matter what. Jan had back surgery scheduled for three weeks after their return. These two were in pain every day but you never heard a single complaint. Instead we all saw those smiles and we all felt their love for each other, for the people around them and for nature and the animals in it. Being guided is law in Africa, no foreigner is allowed to hunt alone. Being helped over the rough terrain is something we do out of respect for these hunters. I have filmed them in Namibia in 2016 and after hiking 14 miles each day neither of them wanted to hand over their rifles to anyone else. They were strong enough to hunt hard, now they are older and their bodies are showing it so it's the respectful thing to help them still pursue their dreams. Tim dedicated his life to the military and protected his country, it's about time someone helps him in return. I do understand your concern about true hunting but as I mentioned earlier this isn't the time. No bragging rights went into their decision to come and hunt or to get it filmed. These are awesome people showing the world that you should pursue your dreams no matter what the challenges might bring. If I can select one hunt over the last 5 years as a symbol to young people, this will be the hunt and these will be my heroes. I look up to Tim and Jan and I hope everyone has their strength stay as humble as they are. Once again thank you for your comment and for your support on my channel. Do you still hunt much?
We agree with African Sun. These people could have stayed at home in bed but instead showed true strength and courage to still come all the way to Africa to live their dream hunt even if they needed help. Life is all about choices and they made the right choice to accept help when it is needed. Awesome.
The buffalo we haven't been hunted yet will roam free and reproduce, increase the population. The buffalo that has been hunted will be fully utilized. All the meat is used, some in camp by the hunters and staff and the rest will either be donated to schools, hospitals or old-age homes. If there are none of these in the area then a butcher will take the meat and process it.
Hi Mike. As explained before: The hunts I film are all part of sustainable utilization programs designed to increase wildlife numbers as a whole. It's not for fun, it has a bigger purpose.
No worries Mike. I know most people don't read through previous comments and watch other videos. No harm no foul. Thank you for replying again, much appreciated.
Hi. It's needed to protect wildlife. Sustainable utilization programs designed to increase wildlife numbers as a whole is the best conservation tool we have.
Unfortunately humans have pushed these animals into smaller and smaller areas. Nature cannot do what is needed anymore. If we don't protect the few remaining wild areas, there will be no wildlife left. The only way to protect these areas is with money, ans hunters supply that needed money. Hunting a few selected animals protects thousands of others.
@@lovesl9386 but aren't humans the alpha predator? If you remove humans from the equation don't you upset the balance of nature? You have to remember we live in this world too and we're predators so if you remove the human hunter you upset the ecosystem!
@@johnkertzman3223 😂😂bro .It will never happen, but we must increase the number of carnivores living in the natural environment.Humans are more intelligent than all other animals. So people need to understand the right thing. It's not surprising that stupid hunters who do not know that are mentally ill. For example, animals such as the Caspian tiger, the Bali tiger, and the Javanese tiger became extinct because of dumb hunters Hunters can escape society and the law, but crimes against the environment inevitably lead to serious accidents and death. 🙏

Watching from South Africa. What a fantastic video!!
Motivates me to work hard so I can go on hunting trips like this
Hi Astin. Thanks for watching. I hope you make it to some trips like this. Memories for a lifetime, that's for sure.
Tudo perfeito
Obrigado por assistir!
Thank you for uploading this episode, Hi from NZ. :)
Hello there! It's my pleasure. I appreciate you watching all the way from NZ! I'm was supposed to visit your country last year, but hopefully it still happens once you allow me in, haha.
Hi from South Africa😂
Haha, dis doodreg Andries, ons het 'n VREK MOOI land en lekker mense. Dankie dat jy saam kyk.
@@AfricanSunProductions I know its hard... :'( We are in lockdown again, hope one day I can travel to Africa hunting with you guys too.
@@bubblefish17 Oh that sucks, sorry to hear about the lockdown, didn't realize you went down a level again.
Whenever you are allowed to come over we should definitely make a plan and get you on my channel.
Stay positive and stay healthy!
Nice to see the Chapuis 470 Nitro in action, hopefully someday I will be able to use mine for Buffalo!
Thanks for the info Tim!
@@timdecker9106 I just paid my deposit to Tsala safaris for a Buffalo and Sable safari for 2024! I'm on my way Tim, now it's just the waiting!
That is great news John! I hope you have someone to video the hunt. It's priceless of done correctly.
@@AfricanSunProductions have you worked with Tsala safaris before? I'd love to have it video but I'm not sure if I can afford it this time.
Well done all round! Love how the clients were treated!
Thank you sir. I agree, this is an amazing group with respect all round. It was a great hunt.
Great video Martin. 🙌🏻🐾
Thank you!!! 😉
He earned that first bull the hard way.
Yes sir, it was a tough hunt, but it worked out and everyone is very happy, and safe...
Thank you for watching and for your comment.
You can carry a Double all day on a pinch of McChrystals!
Yes sir, I agree completely!
Always great to see your videos Martin. It was a pleasure to meet you at Comre this July. Keep doing what you do. You are truly the best in the business!
Thank you sir, much appreciated. I hope we can share a camp again someday in the near future. Stay safe!
That stuff you guys sniff at 35:00 looks potent. ;) Congrats on the successful hunt!
Haha, it is but it's also sooo good. Some menthol snuff nonsense that Super brought with.
Great job as usual, you guys rock!
Thanks ASM!!!
Guys I just want to be part of the hunting please notify me when you're going

@@AfricanSunProductions Yes, ek het laas naweek n jag in gesit om die seisoen af te sluit.
Lekker. Wat het jul als gejag?
buffalo are tough animals for sure. That buff took 4 shots???
Yes sir! Very tough. If your first shot is perfect, you can get away with only one shot but usually even on a perfect shot you keep on shooting until the bull is down. They have a tendency to get back up again and then they don't run away, they run for your and that's never nice.
@@AfricanSunProductions Do you consider 375 hh as a good buffalo cartridge?
To be honest I'm a cameraman, even after all these years filming hunts I still don't know the ballistics of all the cartridges but I do know that your PH / Guide will have the recommendation that he feels comfortable with. On the .375 HH, with my limited knowledge, would say yes it's enough. It is very important where you put that first bullet though. With bigger calibers your margin or error is bigger, you can get away with a shot that is a bit off.
My opinion is that you shoot the rifle you shoot best, put the bullet where it needs to go and get more shots off quickly.
@@AfricanSunProductions Thank you for your reply sir!
@@moneyx3232 You're welcome!
Great trip, what was the device they used during the snuff game?
Haha, I'm not sure what that device is called, but it's cool!
Thanks for watching.
Where are the lions, tigers, and bears, O’my!!!! Not to mention everything else that is hungry, or doesn’t like to be stepped on like a snake.
Hello! Lions are around, but no tigers and bears in this area, luckily. We do get snakes but we always keep an eye out for them and don't really have issues.
Thanks for watching!
That truck needs a locker or two.
What type of locker?
Os animais q vcs estão abatendo vcs fazem doação da carne
Ou é para seu consumo mesmo?
Usamos parte da carne, mas a maior parte é doada para aldeias, escolas, orfanatos e assim por diante.

Untuk menembak 1 ekor bison butuh brapa kali tembak mister? Salam 1 hobi dari saya Tri sulistyo from INDONESIA
Halo!

Haelgeweer !! 😝😝😝

Awesome.
Why comments off African sports man channel you all are very dangers animal in Earth .why you hunting Lion .you all are eat lion meat
You will have to ask that channel why they turned off comments, this is African Sun Productions, my comments are all enabled.
And what happens to the meat that Bufalo you haven't been killing.???. because he has more than 1000 puond.???.

Why you people from west hunt for fun? Can't you spare these poor animals and live them?
Hi Mike. As explained before: The hunts I film are all part of sustainable utilization programs designed to increase wildlife numbers as a whole. It's not for fun, it has a bigger purpose.
@@AfricanSunProductions i didn't know that. video suggested by youtube and i watched it. god bless you!!
No worries Mike. I know most people don't read through previous comments and watch other videos. No harm no foul. Thank you for replying again, much appreciated.
Plz don't kill anmials
Hi. It's needed to protect wildlife. Sustainable utilization programs designed to increase wildlife numbers as a whole is the best conservation tool we have.
@@AfricanSunProductions don’t worry.no need bastard hunters for that controling system.Mother nature and carnivore animals will control it.
For example, animals such as the Caspian tiger, the Bali tiger, and the Javanese tiger became extinct because of dumb hunters
Hunters can escape society and the law, but crimes against the environment inevitably lead to serious accidents and death. 🙏
Why hunt with shotguns?
Hi Julian. No, they didn't use shotguns all. Those are big caliber rifles. Thanks for watching!
@@AfricanSunProductions it just looked like a shotgun? Two barrel rifles aint common within my hunting buddies. Never seen that before
They are very expensive and almost exclusively used for big and dangerous game. You can get two shots off very quickly, very cool!
