I watch the average person going fishing for food for themselves and their family. I haven't got a problem with that. However, when I watch the trawlers, I can't help but think about how many other trawlers are doing the exact same thing, day in and day out and contributing to the devastation of our oceans.
It may seem bountiful to them and no doubt it is their livelihood with a seemingly never ending source, but how much of it goes to waste? How much of what they catch and kill is discarded because it isn't what they are after? They are destroying an entire ecosystem, and they couldn't care less. Trawling is an awful practice.
How many of these were illegal? Plundering waters where overfishing has been seen as a problem, so they shouldn't be there? And what of the protected species that are caught because a protected and rare species is a delicacy and so is rewarded with big pay?
Yeah, it’s true. They’re depleting our fisheries. The common fisherman. Can’t even catch very much because of these monsters. And then the price for fish goes up. That’s including lobster.

They're harvesting the young to eat/sell/raise artificially. That's probably a fish farm. That's a mouth brooding species. The fry go into the parent's mouth if there's danger which makes it really easy to harvest them.
Looks like an East Asian fish farm operation... he's probably restocking a pen with fry.

How are the fish being caught and then coming off the line without taking the hook out? And they're doing it over and over, from the looks of it, without putting bait on the line. I'm confused.

These are mackerel… catch with fishing hook without barbs! The trick is to land them on the boat and not over it! Hope this helps. Regards jeff

Why is this channel supporting fishermen that obviously intentionally struck to catch a fish but ripped it out of the water at hyperspeed, sending it around 20 -30 ft behind him slaming it into a nasty swimming pool with green nasty water, wtf braintime?
