    I’m proud to be black and feel very blessed but this video alone made me feel even more proud of my heritage and culture. This video helped answer some questions I never bothered to ask but am glad to know now. Black Americans are deeply integral and important to this nation, our ancestors made something out of nothing and made it look and taste good simultaneously. Thank you to all the ancestors and may we continue to uphold their legacies.

      This is the kind of stuff I wish they would've taught in history class back when I was a child in the late 90's-early 2,000's.I'm 🤍 but recognize that 🖤 folks & their culture have helped shape 🇺🇸 culture in various ways both more obvious & subtle.I can't help but 💭 that if they taught this kind of stuff in classrooms...It would likely help with breaking down more barriers over time because it'd lead to a better understanding of history as well as it's impacts today.

    Getting ready to eat pinto beans (brown beans) and cornbread. Sprinkle a little sugar. Crumple the cornbread into the beans. Make sure you have juice with the beans to help soak in the cornbread. Slice a piece of onion and tomatoes on the side. You can't go wrong. Enjoy.

      Sprinkle some sugar? Black people do not do that. Not sure where that come from but it sounds like something promoted on a tv show some day. Sugar on rice, sugar on bread, sugar and grits as if grits ain't grits with no sugar ain it, lol,....now sugar in beans, awhh come on ya gotta be kidding.

    We need to get back to soul food - Our grandparents lived long lives because they cooked & had apple & pear trees in the backyard - All they know is Popeyes chicken nowadays! 🤦‍♂️

    • @RemyDisco
      @RemyDisco 5 місяців тому +3

      Kfc, Popeyes in every other little gas station or small joint that sells chicken fried chicken especially is a hot item all over the world but one thing about fried Chicken that we people of color always have to have if it has to be fresh out of the hot oil when we eat it😂😂😂😂

      Don’t forget they were more active and their food was more pure. They ate in moderation due to not having surplus like we do. It’s a touchy topic bc we definitely don’t want to die from food related illnesses like Big Momma did.

    This doc is 🔥. I'm 🍁 of 🇯🇲 heritage. I've always figured Collared Greens and Callaloo is the same thing.

    • @RemyDisco
      @RemyDisco 5 місяців тому +4

      Not really similar they are very similar the texture is different and a callaloo is more closer to a spinach and collard green mix I think it is a hybrid of both of these vegs together

    • @davidphinn9646
      @davidphinn9646 5 місяців тому +2

      @RemyDisco Seen. I've always described it as "Spinach's cousin" to the curious, but dem look same inna di picture dem, still🤔😸🤷🏾‍♂️. Figured there might be something to the name similarity, as if one influenced the other somehow:
      🇺🇸 " Call A Who? Naw. We ain't sayin that. Collared Greens gonna hafta do."
      🇯🇲 "Collared Greens? Alright." Then someone says "Callaloo" coz it quicker and easier fi seh. It catches on and a it dat. I dunno🤔😂. It's worth some research

    The fact that watermelon was invented or came from China and reached its shores across the world, being one of the oldest fruits on Earth coming through the middle eastern shores and to Africa and other places, is a very important part of history that let you know how much black people are in and will always be a part of every single nation every single nationality we are the first people to ever be on earth we are the first people in the world

    We are very resilient and creative as a race. We popularized EVERYTHING! Our ancestors ate and made do with what they had. I'm not surprised if they did eat alot of watermelon. They were hungry and that's all they probably had to eat at times 🤷🏾‍♀️

    See how the Italians were a minority in the eyes of , Caucasian ppl,or whom depiction as"white"person's .know one was outside of the Brits, and Portugal whom was also considered white ppl,Spain, swedish,and sum others,were white ppl, it strange to me how white ppl,picked and chooses the ppl of other European, countries that they wanted to consider to be white,only wen it was convenient for them as colored ppl out populated them,so the same ppl the weren't considered to be white,that had been treated worse than us ppl of color,the same very ppl the lived with us, side by side worked and everything else,WERE GOVEN THE WHITE CARD,then gave us the most racist and brutal threatmeant none to one , Italians,Irish, Germans,polish,and etc,
    Thanks for reading I could go on writing for hours ....😅!!!
