    I have a 2023 standard model that I bought used in the spring of 2023 with 30 km ( yes, 30). The previous owner had added a heated seat, grips, and touratech engine/tank guards. Like you, I want to go off-pavement but not necessarily off-road. The standard edition is perfect for that. At 6'3", I can flat foot with the seat in the lowered position. I put about 8500 km last season, including a trip from southern Ontario to New Brunswick (and back). A great all-round bike!

    IMO the Norden 901 is one heck of a motocycle. I love the new BMW R1300GS and equally appeciate Ducati's Multistrada, however the Norden 901 (and a few others in the middlweight catagory) are SO GOOD its getting hard/ harder to justify spending more money on anything else - just my opinion.

    This is probably the most "bang for your buck motorcycle" there is. You literally get everything you could want and need without adding accessories. Big plus.
    I ride a Harley, and although it being a beautiful bike, its crazy that you need to spend at least 2000 bucks on engine guard, new seat for 2 up, risers just to make it comfortable, when the bike costs 20k.
    The same goes for BMW, its all about packages and accessories. Naw man, good job Husqvarna for giving us a bike that handles everything there is to handle right from factory. Love it

    Love my ‘23 Norden! The seat is very comfortable, but it takes time to get used to it because it’s wide…so at 6’ tall I needed to get comfortable with using one foot down. Off-road I have to think a bit more due to that too.
    A lot of people not into motorcycling look at you weird when you say it’s a Husky, so you will stand out from the crowd. Highly recommend this bike, I ride 50/50 and hope to do even more dirt next season.

      @@PeterLoweOne it doesn’t seem tall on paper and for many with longer legs it’ll be easy. Love the low weight and incredible power, the Explorer mode off pavement is great too…esp for those of us just learning on the trails.

    Unique motorcycle, nice review. With the large fuel capacities, these bikes probably still steer well and are agile. My previous Ninja 250R with a 4.8 gallon tank, and when filled, was just as agile as when near empty of fuel, as I couldn't tell much difference. Thanks for the review!

    Thanks for the video. Is it possible to lower the standard norden bike? If yes, Would it affect the handling in the corner? Thanks

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  10 місяців тому +1

      I haven't looked into if there is a factory lowering kit, but I expect there would be an aftermarket one. Anytime you lower a bike through suspension, you do modify the handling in theory, but with these tall adventure bikes, there is room to lower them and still have plenty of suspension travel for most people, and competent handling.

    Hi Peter, great review thanks. In reviews on the 2023 expedition model they spoke about a lot of heat on your legs at low speed (25mph/40kmh). Is that problem still there or did change Husqvarna change the shape of the body on the 2024 expedition model?

      It's the middle of winter here, so I haven't ridden the 2024. I hope to get out on one this spring/summer and I'll have a proper riding review when I do. I'll pay special attention to that issue, and try to report back when I get the chance in that video.

      I own the 2023 Norden. Yes heat is an issue. This is what I really don't like. It's the heat from the catalytic converter under the rear shock . Its the same with all Nordens and ktm 890s. And of course there is no change in 2024. It's the same bike. Some guys change the cat by a tube wich you can buy. I live in europe and here its absolutely mandatory to have a cat and of course better for our environment.

      I own the 2024 Noreen and drive it in the city of San Francisco. Yeah, I could bake a chicken with the heat coming off the engine onto my lower leg. I designed some deflectors that have been 3D printed and am working on the install.

      @@thenigelfinley1 200mi from the closest dealer. So I kind'a on-lined it. Get my parts (broken brush guard/oil etc..) mail order. Only thing I can't do is the diagnostic tool, (proprietary) I ride just about every day & unlike my ol'Harley I can actually corner now ! I live as far E as one can, lot of sand, which is impossible on ADVs. Big knobbies would help but wear out too quickly. Hunted this bike since 23' inventory's gotten better. If your going to primarily ride tight single track I'd go for a lighter sm. displacement enduro,(400cc+/-) long trips/some off road this is the one I chose. Don't believe the rubbish on YT, if your only way to get back to civilization is your bike, your disinclined to fly off every hit you see. No matter what your riding. So far I'm enjoying my Norden Exp. 900 $17k is a lot so test ride, shop around check out what else that much will buy.(Not helpful I know, but it does encompass a whole lot of bikes) To me the low slung gas tank was key. So make sure if you do compare different makes, they're all filled up.

    Fantastic bike. The expedition would be the way for me. Not sure about the luggage. It's like they dipped one toe in the pool with those. Would be better to add larger more durable luggage. Also, the mount kit for the panniers is an odd shape if you want to add aftermarket ones. Still a great bike and not a deal-breaker.

    • @PeterLoweOne

      Those thoughts are out there, I'm seriously considering getting one and featuring it on my channel to be fully transparent about what issues come up. I like the V-Strom 800 DE a lot as well, but this bike and some of the KTM bikes offer A LOT and I think reliability should be put to the test... Maybe by me.

    Considering 901 expedition, my only concern is reliability do to chinese component use by ktm? Great review 👍

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  11 місяців тому +8

      I think the idea of where something is made determining reliability is pretty dated. This isn't 1985. Factories around the world are held to exacting standards these days. People don't walk around with iPhones wondering if the reliability will be there. The device that you watched this on was probably made in China, the camera that filmed this, was made in China, the computer that edited this was likely made from Chinese components. I honestly that KTM's quality and reliability have improved over recent years. There's absolutely been a political push back against China in the past few years, but that's not been based on poor quality, it's based on the fact that they're creating some very high quality goods and can sell them for much less which threatens the greater domestic economy. The fact that people still believe that Chinese made products are inferior just helps certain agendas.
      Again, a debate can be had about Chinese made goods, and there may be valid concerns, but quality isn't one of those concerns anymore.

    So the base model has a smaller windscreen for offroad riding and the full-offroad model, the Expedition, has a mush taller windscreen for offroad riding. HUH?

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, I hear what you're saying, but I think the Expedition is just MORE of everything. Yes it has more suspension travel, and is therefore better for off-road riding, but it also has a heated seat, standard luggage, etc, so it's also a better tourer, and that, to me, justifies the standard larger winsdscreen. To be fair, if you're buying this bike, it's an easy accessory swap to get the smaller windshield, and if you had both, you could swap out depending on the adventure that you're planning to have.
