Hi, just to add ease of life if anyone was wondering if you can carry over formatting, font style etc from AI to ID,
On Indesign head over to Edit > Preferences > Clipboard Handling then on the "When Pasting Texts and Tables from other Applications tab"
By default you should see that the ticked box is only at "Text Only" you'd want to tick on the box above it named "All Information (Index Markers, Swatches, Styles, etc.) saved me a lot of time doing this then just copy paste without redoing everything. Thank you

hi there... thanks for the above. I am traveling now and can't try this (because, based on my previous reply, I THOUGHT I had tried that... but, I probably just missed something... it happens! ;-) I'll follow up here in about a week...

Not that I have been able to figure out. I even created a style in AI to go along with the ID preference about "keep styles when pasting text", but that didn't work either. It keeps the style when you paste a text box, but then the text isn't actually editable. If you or anyone else figures out a workaround to keep the formatting, I'd love to hear it!
