- Disney is releasing their Live-Action Little Mermaid movie starring Halle Bailey in a few months as well as Peter Pan and Wendy. In this video, I react to the trailers and promo images in both movies to explain my problems with them.

They somehow managed to make a CORAL REEF, the most colorful ecosystem in all of nature, look drab. The whole time I'm like, can someone turn the lights on? lol
Woman here. I'm so annoyed that they put girls in the lost boys. There are no girls in the lost boys group because in the story, "girls are too smart to fall out of their prams." It's also supposed to be part of how much Wendy is influential on the lost boys as their "mother." Its part of the charm of the story. Thank you Brittney for making this video. EDIT - thank you all for so many likes! wow!
the fact that Aquaman is brighter than Little mermaid is AMUSING 😂
I can’t get over Ariel’s hair, like why would they remove the bright red hair??? that’s literally her most recognizable feature (besides the tail)
Disney, we don't care about "realistic movies." We care about good storytelling, good characters, and good-looking animation. Puss in Boots 2 was able to tell a mature story with bright, pleasant animation. You should be able to tell a fun story with bright, pleasant animation
"Disney is just prioritising adults over providing children with dreams"... that Japanese person did NOT hold back.
This is why I like Encanto so much. It showcases diversity and strong female characters without throwing it in your face like they are doing with these remakes
"Peter Pan & Wendy" was the original book's title (not the original, which was a play but the book). It has nothing to do with woke culture. In the original, there was also a really good reason that there were no girls in the Lost Boys, and the fact that there were no girls is a big part of why Wendy was imporant to all of them, especially Peter. It's a great example of why changing things randomly to be inclusive sometiems makes no sense and destroys the point of stories.
Instead of making Tinkerbell black, it would be better also to include her friends Iridesa (black) and Silvermist (Asian), even Fawn or Nyx could be Latinas. Disney could have included them to have a diverse group of fairies without race-swapping anyone
I don't understand why Disney didn't use Cinderella 2015 as an example. That movie was so bright and colorful and people loved it
When I was a kid I was obsessed with this live action mermaid tv show called H2O: Just Add Water and it was so colourful everything underwater looked beautiful. I wish this was more like that show. I’m disappointed.
I spent my childhood basking in the Golden Years of Disney animation and now I'm living my adult years squinting in the Dark Ages of Disney.
it's amazing that a lot of
How can you look at documentaries about tropical fish and miss the color palette THAT badly?
The problem with the writers at Disney is that they obviously never actually read the stories. Peter and Wendy is the actual title of the OG book. The point of Wendy being the only girl is to show the transition of a young girl into adulthood. Wendy is leaving the nursery and Peter (the spirit of childhood) cannot accept that. He doesn't want her to grow up. Wendy is a surrogate mom to the Lost boys. Wendy's strength is not in being the modern "girl boss" but the ability to be like a mother to these "lost boys" who don't have a feminine influence.
In Peter Pan, Wendy asks Peter if there are girls in the Lost Boys, and he replies "girls are much too clever to fall out of their prams". The Lost Boys being all boys is literally a compliment to girls.
The changes to Peter Pan shows that they fundamentally don’t understand the story. For example, one of the reasons why Peter and the lost boys were so fascinated by Wendy is that there were no “lost girls” and they didn’t have any feminine presence. Peter in the book an movies is pretty rough and tumble, and always has a slightly menacing undertone. Wendy is a warm, nurturing, and caring influence, which lets the lost boys see what they’re missing by staying in neverland. By having lost boys that are girls Disney is disregarding a large component of the story so they can have some girl boss moment.
"She also doesn't look wet" that never once occurred to me but now I cannot unsee it and its accuracy.
Really dark colors is usually a sign that they're trying to hide bad vfx.
Disney is in the dark ages and it's showing in the films too. I'm glad people pointed this out, the whole time I was like: "why does this look like a horror movie?"
