@@heavyspoilers loved the movie, watched Romulus twice already. Only nit pick is the CG on Rook/Ian Holm. Other then that, it's a true 3rd best alien movie to me.
Well, maybe, just maybe, the aliens adapt. If there's no queen, they can turn their victims into eggs and make more facehuggers on their own. Maybe they have some ability they use if they have no queen to serve, to make eggs themselves, but it's a longer process, and that's why we see them turn slowly into eggs. If a queen alien is present the drones simply wont use that ability, but a lonely alien would.
So grateful Siggy Wev didn't let her convictions over firearms get in the way of her making one of my favorite movies. Thanks from Panama city Beach, FL
The whole crew being turned into Ovomorphs actually makes a lot of sense lore-wise if you look at how the movie is. There's only ONE Xeno, which are genetically coded to reproduce and expand, and that Xeno wasn't hatched from a Queen Ovomorph so it can't just evolve into a Praetorian and then Queen (as far as it was established back then). So, instead, to reformulated it would make a ton more sense to see the Xeno somehow (probably with the weird, hardening saliva they excrete all too much of) use the abilities it has at its disposal and voila, an easy way to explain why it happened without breaking the lore as long as you only take this scenario as a last stand kind of tactic for the Xeno species in the absence of a Queen, Empress, whatever version of a Queen rules that hive.
I think the xenomorph can create eggs, out of necessity, likely aiming toward creating a queen egg. It would be part of a "perfect" organism's ability, including clearly the ability to survive the vacuum of space like a tartigrade can.
In the Alan Dean Foster novel it explained Ripley's nose bleed was though space decompression due to a early scene in the script removed.Which would explain also her nose bleed after the airlock scene in aliens. Great vid really enjoyed it 😊
i have enjoyed every film in the series as they were released, way back to 79 when i was about 8 months pregnant and saw my first chestburster. i find each film has a distinct flavor or tone, but when weaver helms them as ripley they are undeniably Alien in some form, and i love them all. nitpick: it's the Betty, not the Betsy. thank you for your fine and fun analysis.
I know that this is the wrong topic, but I wanted to let you know that your breakdown of the original Blade Runner was a huge blast! I saw it when it was first released in theaters and I was blown away! I went to see it twice more during the same week and then again a month later. Your analysis is quite interesting and very intriguing, as well as downright enjoyable! You touched on all of the themes that I've mulled over with friends and family for years. I shared it with the ones who are still living, and they loved it! Great job on this endeavor, and thank you for doing it! Kudos!!❤😊

@@Resimaster MT does vids for Heavy Spoilers. I assumed that Paul was a one man show, but apparently there’s folks behind the scene that help put the vids together. So I was thanking them for being Paul’s backbone lol.
Of all the reviews I love yours the best!! You have a genuine respect and love for the movie(s) and spend time on research. Yes and your jokes… 😂 Pls keep up the great work!!!
I watched these movies over a hundred times. Alien and Aliens. I saw Aliens in the movie theater the first time when it came out. I spent most of the movie in the bathroom because I was terrified. Watching it at home, where I felt safe. My brother's and I watched it over and over. It's annoying that I know every line from it. 😊😂❤ Great movies, the first two.
Bishop II's ear looks like that after he was hit, because his scalp was split. I always understood it that way, at least. It was literally part of his flesh loosened away from his skull, and he's more fixated on Ripley, than he is his grievous injury.
Amazing as always... I watched your predator video again for like the zillionth time. That's how I stumbled across this channel. Don't suppose there's any podcast on the horizon?
Very good. I am obsessed with these movies. 3 and 4 not so much but I still watch them from time to time. I learned a lot from the video, especially the behind of scene moments of each movie. Next up Prometheus. I know you don't like it but I did and would welcome your breakdown. Let's go! Prometheus! ! Prometheus! PROMETHEUS!
Sigorney Weaver has always been kinda tall and lean. When not pregnant, those "organs and stuff" are quite small. Uterus is some 100-200ml so less then a small can of soda. Also when human body (male or female) is laying on their back, the gravity tends to pull the organs and body fat towards the back, making the belly portion seem flatter or even sunken. To me, that belly seems distended but it also could be other reasons like flatulence or accumulated liquid in the abdominal cavity. We don't know what the hypersleep (or sudden awakening from it) causes but i think the idea was to hint it was due to the chestburster that actually *is* inside her.
I watched Resurrection the other day and really enjoyed it. Alien 3 felt so long and drawn out and I hated the character betraying his friends and letting the alien out of the place they had it captured. Makes no sense and I was so frustrated I turned it off right there lol. 1, 2, 4, and now Romulus are all great in my opinion.
Personally, I think Burke lied to Ripley about Amanda not having children, about Ripley having no grandchildren. His words, "No children, I checked" do not ring with any degree of truth, especially considering his overall motivation. If Ripley has no ties left on Earth, he can more easily convince her later that she needs to go back to LV-426. Oh, and Hudson's name does not appear on the ship's manifest when it it boots up to release them from cryosleep. I think Hudson died from acid splash of the xenomorph he shot at while he was being dragged down into the subflooring. We were shown many times earlier in the movie that their weapons cause the aliens to explode; Gorman even states, "10mm explosive-tipped caseless, standard light-armor-piercing rounds". Hudson shot down at the one pulling at him and it exploded all over his armor, only he didn't have anyone right there to pull it off like Hicks did later.
I am glad you went back and did these breakdowns! Even for 3 and Resurrection. I am 31, and I missed the Alien movies growing up. I finally got around to watching all of them except for Romulus (currently in theaters at the time of my comment.) and the non-Canon AVPs. I liked Alien 3 and Resurrection more. Prometheus is sort of the weakest one to me, I hate how dumb the "scientists" are in there. So, after watching them all in order, I think my ranking from best to worst personally, would be, Aliens, Alien, Resurrection, Alien 3. For the prequels, I would say, Alient: Covenant, then Prometheus. I am hoping to catch Alien Romulus before it's out of theaters, also to say that I have at least seen one of the Alien movies in theaters!
Thanks to my general love for the Alien franchise I love or at least like all of the movies in some way. My personal number 1 is Alien, followed by Aliens. Least favorite is Alien Covenant.
Theory: @2:27:00 If "Alien 5" had been made, that means the new synth would have had a name starting with the letter "E". I dare take a shot at it being named "Ellen". I think we know why. Just where they would have gone with it would have been interesting.....
The xeno exploding has more to do with adding moisture/water to molten metal. VERY big violent explosions happen when water comes into contact with molten metal caused the rapid release of steam.
I saw Alien 1980 at the age of 13. Absolutely scared the F out of me. Dad loved it. Aliens 1986 19 yrs old. Saw it opening night here in west Los Angeles. Was awesome. To date it in my top 10 action scifi. Alien 3 i saw 1992 on magic mushrooms. Omg. The movie gripped my soul. I saw Alien 4 on cable TV. Missed theater viewing cause everyone i knew hated it. It was ok popcorn horror action. Saw all the other movies in theater. Enjoyed them all.
50:05 Not sure if you mentioned already, but actress who played Vasquez also plays the foster Mom of John Connor in Terminator 2. Also, she isn’t Latina IRL, lolz…51:53
The be fair, the Colonial Marines were trained to approach danger and dangerous situations... so it's less hubris and more training. As for Hicks being cocky in the dropship on the way down, the military (and sports teams) often pump themselves up to prepare to enter a challenging situation where a normal personal would usually hide or run from. It's adrenaline pumping to get ready for combat.
It's so crazy because Sigourney Weaver and Carrie Henn having similar history where both their real-life moms are from the UK, married and married an American man. Also Sigourney's mom in the director's cut of the Alien portrayed the older daughter of Ellen Ripley. Then in Aliens Carrie Henn's real-life brother portrayed her onscreen brother and the actress confirmed it and I believe it's the director's cut not sure.
The whole Bishop II issue. I've always assumed it that its a newer model of android meant to be more human like, hence the "blood". The complete lack of pain shown by him almost shows that he's not a human. Anyone with their ear hanging by a thread of skin would be in an immense amount of pain. The Bishop model also being chosen because Ripley has familiarity with it due to the events of Aliens.
There's videos people walking/talking normally who have lost their whole arm. Shock is an amazing thing. I almost cut my whole fingertip off with a bread-knife and it took 5-10min before the pain hit and then it hit really, really, really hard. Called my friend to drive to hospital, all was ok and then couldn't talk much on the drive to the hospital. Just concentrated on not screaming out of pain. That hit could easily just glanced off of his skull, meaning no concussion and only tore off the ear and the skin next to it. The whole matter in the film took less then 2 minutes, easily enough time for him to battle it through and then get shot up full of meds. Heck, maybe he was already on some pain meds to numb something else! All this just to say that we can't be saying anything concrete based on his reaction or the lack of it. We just don't know enough. It's still much simpler explanation then new unknown android model there is no info or backlore anywhere.
49:06 the have you been mistaken for a man line, according to Cameron in the Aliens Expanded Doc he hear someone use it in a bar when filming. He liked it and added it to the film. Im sure the person in the bar is quoting that old movie, but that movie is not where Cameron got it from
The original Alien Trilogy are all tied at 1# in my opinion because i like them all the same for separate reasons & they are all completely different but still keep the same story going forward & are all iconic considering each film was directed by three different young legendary directors in there prime ❤ Alien : Covenant is 2# in my book just because of Fassbender , the Neomorph scenes & cuz it's got the greatest Xenomorph deaths & defiantly the best ending scene in the entire series ❤ Prometheus is 3rd because it wasn't meant to be a Xenomorph film , it was only made to answer the biggest question every real Alien fan has been asking since 1979 which is : who is the Space Jockey??? That's literally the only thing u need to care about in this film & nothing else!!! AVP is 4th because it's a fun movie & has great practical effects but falls flat for not making it R rated!!!! Resurrection is 5th , I literally turn it off after the underwater scene ends because everything after that is just ridiculous!!! AVP Requiem is last & always will be & I have nothing else to say about it 😂 Haven't seen Romulus yet but I'm sure it will at least make my top 2 or 3 after the OG Trilogy!!!!! I don't care about opinions because they are usually a bunch of crybabies that are sensitive picky little idiots that were all spoiled raised kids & over privileged & are just half ass fans anyway because they bitch about everything so they have zero opinions & hold zero weight & theyre opinions are 100% irrelevant anyways 🤧🥱🖕
13:13 That's how I feel. When they turn around to go back, the light leaves but the shot lingers on the Space Jockey, leaving you to imagine how long it must have been there alone in darkness, and how we can only glimpse small parts of its unknowable story. To me, that's the appeal. It's something we can't conceive, inexplicable and completely foreign. It's _alien._
I think alien is the better made movie but aliens is much better in terms of rewatch ability. I can rewatch alien but it doesn’t quite have the impact when you know what happens. Aliens being more action focused makes it much easier to rewatch

The Nostromo was the name of the tug. The ore refinery it's "towing" isn't named.
Man what a quadrilogy
The original Alien Trilogy are all tied at 1# in my opinion because i like them all the same for separate reasons & they are all completely different but still keep the same story going forward & are all iconic considering each film was directed by three different young legendary directors in there prime ❤
Alien : Covenant is 2# in my book just because of Fassbender , the Neomorph scenes & cuz it's got the greatest Xenomorph deaths & defiantly the best ending scene in the entire series ❤
Prometheus is 3rd because it wasn't meant to be a Xenomorph film , it was only made to answer the biggest question every real Alien fan has been asking since 1979 which is : who is the Space Jockey??? That's literally the only thing u need to care about in this film & nothing else!!!
AVP is 4th because it's a fun movie & has great practical effects but falls flat for not making it R rated!!!!
Resurrection is 5th , I literally turn it off after the underwater scene ends because everything after that is just ridiculous!!!
AVP Requiem is last & always will be & I have nothing else to say about it 😂
Haven't seen Romulus yet but I'm sure it will at least make my top 2 or 3 after the OG Trilogy!!!!!
ALIENS is the greatest film ever made.
cheers o/,,,,,
13:13 That's how I feel.
