Not war and bombing, but a cable car accident in China. Dad lifted the toddler up in the air and thereby saved him; both parents were killed. Han Hong adopted the orphan and wrote the song.

Dimash was ill when performed this song here at Singer. Listen to Bastau concert version of this song! It’s full force power of Dimash’s voice! Just so impressive! Happy New Year! Best wishes!

This song tells a very sad but true story. It’s about a cable car accident that happened in China in 1999. The cable car was completely overcrowded. The max capacity of the wagon was 10 but there were crammed 36 people onto it. To make the story short, the car slid back and crashed 100 meters down to the ground. 14 tourists were killed. Including the parents of the boy this song is about. The boy only survived because his father lifted him high to soften the fall. The little one was 2.5 years old at the time. If you want to know more about the story, there is a video on yt. Unfortunately I can't send it bc my comment will filtered out.
Han Hong, a Chinese singer wrote this song from the surviving boy's point of view when she heard about the crash. Later she adopted the boy. Of course she also sang the song herself. You might want to give that a listen too.
In this version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again. You really should see this
    ua-cam.com/video/uXGF7vgEYKk/v-deo.html
It's incredible how he still manages to convey such emotions even though he had such a bad sore throat during this performance. But I also think that the emotion he shows in this one version is mainly worry about whether his voice will last until the end of the song.
    Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

You should find the backstory to this. He had needles in his throat before singing this. He had lost his voice.

Because so many people recommend watching a video that shows the background of the song and Dimash's illness, I'm linking it here (please watch with subtitles):
    ua-cam.com/video/uXGF7vgEYKk/v-deo.html
I'm also linking the version from Bastau, Dimash's first big concert. He sang Daybreak there too, but he was healthy. It's worth watching. It's also good for a reaction.

It's too bad this clip didn't include earlier events I've seen included which showed Dimash discovering he had no voice the day before competition, going to the hospital to receive throat injections, advised not to sing high, the other contestants supporting him, one even giving him some kind of natural healing lozenge or medication. Also, this song is based on a true story of an overfilled cable car that collapsed and the parents raising their son above them as they fell to their death, saving their son. Han Hong, the lyricist and original singer, wrote this song from the child's perspective and later adopted the child. Dimash sang his best in the competition given his throat condition, very emotional. After Singer at his first concert, Basteau, he again sang this song, a totally different emotional expression that you need to react to later. 😊♥️ The orchestration in this piece was beautiful, too, really driving the emotional delivery from Dimash. Thank you for reacting. ☺️❤️

I love your reactions to Dimash, please don't ever stop! It's unfortunate that you didn't know the story of song, however, since it's based on an actual event that had nothing to do with a bombing, but which took the lives of the boy's parents in a cable car accident in China in 1999.

Dimash had a fever and lost his voice and before the performance he went to the doctor where he got several injections in his throat (the doctor forbade him to sing high notes so as not to hurt himself).... also his Chinese colleague singer brought Dimash some strong Chinese drops for his vocal cords
Dimash sang with great pain in his throat to everyone's amazement ... but then he lost his voice again and had to rest,,,,,
He sang it again at his concert with his full voice

The child lost his parents in a cable car accident. His father held him up so the child survived the accident. Han Hong who wrote the song later adopted the young boy. Dimash was very ill with this performance and had been to the hospital and had 5 injections into his throat before the performance.

“Daybreak” - At his first concert in Bastau: This song tells the sad story of a Chinese boy (Quon Yan), who along with his family, suffered a cable car accident in Xingyi city in Guizhou province, where many people died, but the boy's parents held him up with their hands and he survived, though the parents died. The song was written and composed by the boy's adoptive mother (Han Hong) and Dimash sang the song for the first time in Mandarin on “The Singer 2017”, but he had a sore throat and sang through injections. The doctor said that if he sang high notes, he would never sing again... He sang! Then he made this wonderful version, already cured, at his show in Bastau!

👉 Emotional and heartbreaking. I keep crying, even though I've heard the song 1000 times.
If you don't know, you don't hear it... Dimash lost his voice before this performance (Singer 2017). The doctor gave Dimash 5 injections in his throat and a competitor gave him 'traditional medicine'. All competitors kept their fingers crossed for him and cheered him on. But, if you don't know, you will hear Dimash's voice as powerful and passionate as ever. After this performance, he was asked how his throat felt and he said it felt like broken glass in it. Shortly after he sang, he lost his voice again.
This song based on a true tragic story and is very well known in China. In 1999 14 people died in a cable car accident in China. The parents of a little boy lifted their son to safety, and they themselves died. Original singer and songwriter Han Hong later adopted the child.
Dimash sings with so much pain in his voice it literally tears him apart ... and I can't stop crying.

Dimash was so loving to his siblings. I really tried, but my kids were not like that. Probably Dimash's family did better because the kids were born so many years apart, they didn't have to fight for attention. They had many, many adults around who helped the parents raise them. If I did it over again, I would space my kids at least 5 yearsapart.
I would also be rich, and send them to private schools who had loving teachers. 😊

You're the first reactor that I've seen (which isn't really saying much), who watches each episode of Singer2017 with us right to the end. I like that! You really see the support that all of these professional singers give each other, even while competing against each other. I am not positive, but I'll bet it's a different premise on american 'talent' shows among amateur artists. In America, it always seems that the contestants are kept separated from each other.

It's a pitty u did not see the whole video..... 😢 The beginning is missing, how they rushed him to the hospital..... After he finished this performance, he lost his voice again 😢 In an interview he said it felt like having a shredded glass in his throat. You can see he was in pain towards the end 🥺 You should definitely watch the Bastau version where he was in a perfect vocal shape 😊

So disappointed you ignored my lengthy post in the last episode, to watch Gloria Wu's video (GWu) for "The Story Behind Daybreak." , show Dimash's visit to the hospital where he was advised not to sing any high notes, and follow it up with his Daybreak at Bastau later in 2017,one of the best performances of his life and so emotionally wrenching that he has never sung the song of this true story again. Oh well; I tried.❤

I’ve put it on my list to do at some point!
For this series I just wanted to take in the episodes of Singer 2017 as they happened. To kind of experience what the audience would have when Dimash gained a true Chinese following.
I will return to Daybreak for sure! And dedicate more thought to that performance outside of this singing competition.
Thank you so much for the suggestion! Sorry to disappoint! 😔 ❤️
