And instead of learning of absorbing souls like he did during the finale of the game and his canon epilogue, he's mostly an alchemist and relies on scientific sorcery and whatnot where as Quan Chi's the one with the dark arts (Hence the M1K version of the deadly alliance and why they are seen as a pair most of the story)

So Liu Kang dropped Hellfire Scorpion to Harumi's timeline and they're battling Quan Chi together. So technically Scorpion didn't die. And after Dark Raiden was purged of his evil, then he was banished to the void by Liu Kang, not dead but banished. But yeah the rest of them died
A boring and generic Shang Tsung and story, honestly. Shang has always been a soul eater who needs souls to stay immortal, anyway. I’m very excited for Liu Kang season, hopefully Kitana is next
To be fair after things like the movie (95), and especially Mk11's aftermath story, there's little you can do with him as a character. He practically serves as a good villain (And honestly the Mk11 and M1K versions of the character are forever my favorite portrayals of him) but other than that he's always been a character that had a miscalculation in his plan somehow (From the goofy "Misreading the spell" in Invasions, to despite him being the 1/2 canon endings of Mk11's expansion, he still loses in M1K by Liu Kang's hand)

(That zone was closed, you first needed to defeat Scyzoth's boss, get the special item and then get through the fights until arrive to the chest, you complete the klue and bum, you open the chest and have Kenshi skin, but right now it's unobtainable.)
