Andrew Ross Sorkin, ego larger than the room, believes he is the arbiter of truth, speaks with complete incompetence....WTF is with CNBC keeping him on air?
Andrew was completely logical here though, the whole cancel culture thing which DEI focused on is inherently found in the anti-DEI movement. It's pure double standards, and ideological.
I work in pharmaceuticals and I'm absolutely tired of these initiatives, they take so much time out of the work day... Forced meetings, forced talk about how we need to discuss our "privilege", forced books were have to read. I just want to go to work and be done at the end of the day, I don't want to read an nyt best seller because my CEO finds it so interesting.
Some commenters are missing the environment. Most white collar jobs have outsourcing, raise caps, not hiring, are posting fake jobs, sending jobs to India, etc., the past few years. It feels like a recession because you're running on a skeleton crew and told to prioritize cost cutting, after doing a bunch of cost cutting. Then while you're sacrificing personal life to deal with the pile of work, your company beefs up HR. People paid as much as you to do less, and send out random emails and trainings on DEI. Also the bad timing of talking about empathy and understanding and inclusion, while doing layoffs, and outsourcing mostly to one country - India. Which is not diverse. Not sure about blue collar jobs, but this is many corporate jobs.
Constructive criticism is a good thing. Critique DEI or any other corporate policy to make it better. However, if you acknowledge that DEI was started to address inequity, how does the takedown solve this? What's the path forward?
The path forward would be a meritocracy with a level playing field. No one gets an advantage or disadvantage. If the nba ends up being dominated by one race that’s ok and if aviation ends up being dominated by another that’s also ok.
Better not discriminate when hiring or the lawsuits will be spectacular. There was rampant discrimination against minorities and lgbt in recent history

'DEI' was something that was forced on the corporate sector by the current administration. Its just natural there will be a counter-reaction. Also the presenter needs to chill out and let the person talk and not try to sound smart ( when he is actually not )
Give me a damn break. This country has been divided long before this DEI! So why is this so important to this guy??? People have taken this WOKE and politicized it!! As far as people's values ! That's a personal / individual thing - period!!!

That's not the question to ask? The question is, why did people think these specific (empty) policies were needed, especially at a time when most white collar jobs have hiring freezes or are laying people off?
Corporations should hire based on meritocracy not DEI.
Jan 20th can’t come fast enough
Fall of an empire begins!
@@BrianJohnson-du6pj Yep, the DEI empire will come crashing down. :(
Someone please tell Andrew to stop cutting people off in the middle of a sentence. Have some common courtesy.
Lol Joe does that all the time

It was the Andrew monologue
Productivity has obviously fell. Hard work ethic vs what you look like is always a bad choice.

@rajdeepgill3452dumb take... he's going back to neutral, not forcing politics into the workforce.

Typical projection behavior
DEI…Didnt Earn It.
But how do you know who earned it?
Now, you need to prove what you earned. Judge others, and you will be judged.

At least don't punish Asians and Indians for studying and working hard
It's about time.
Now it's time for Tesla to end all their unproductive DEI programs

This guy is shakedown artist but it doesn’t make him wrong on DEI. Although I don’t think it moves the stock in most instances by much and for long.

Yes! Let's all boycott Bud light. We'll all drink Busch light instead, made by the same company. Brilliant.
You can't deny that Bud Light was harmed financially, very badly.
