At my local Walmart a customer at selfcheck was needing assistance. They kept trying to get the supervisors attention(he was standing 6 ft. From him). Through the several attempts, the attention was raised of an off duty associate. She stepped up and assisted the customer. She then turned around and asked ," Did you not see/hear this customer? Why weren't you helping them? He acknowledged that he didn't respond to the pronouns they were using.

Notice in a lot stores no customer service anymore. Find it yourself because the employees have no time to deal with customers because they have to get their work done. What happened to graveyard shift where they restock.???
Walmart been destroyed the regular 3 shift dynamics, majority of employees are off Monday and Tuesday and work Wednesday through Sunday. Employees come in 5,6,7,8,9,10 am in different positions and the majority only get 36 hours and peak out at pay raise not getting another raise ever at that peak.
I think COVID happened. Even though it's been almost 5 years you would think they'd put the graveyard shifts back in rotation. I totally missed the 24 hr Walmart days, and it was nice not to run into shipment or someone inconveniently stocking a product every time you turned your cart down a isle lol

Retailers got into DEI in because of the pressure from special interest. They didn't have a back bone to say no to a very small segment of their overall consumer base . Have decades of business and work experience in the garment industry from raw materials supplier to retail. DEI costs , Rainbow clothing sections etc ..... all this amounted to get financial looses and public approval losses for these companies .

DEI mandates preferences based on things that are irrelevant, simple. For example, I worked at a company that struggled to sell a certain product. Most of the staff were selling 0 - 3 of them per month. I routinely and consistently sold 20 - 30 of them per month and sat in a meeting where a woman of color who sold 6 of them that one particular month was presented as a miracle worker and spoke to everyone about how she did it.
This statement doesn’t add up. If the mean was 0-3 and you sold 20-30, then some other factors were overlooked. Like how long you were with the business, your clientele and other preferences. With that being said, the lady selling 6 still was an above average feat that needed to be celebrated. Hopefully encouraging other to shoot for the same. We don’t know if she worked overtime to achieve those results or went out of her way to accommodate clients. Good job to you for holding down the company but you aren’t the only one to celebrate. She showed growth nonetheless.

I used to see that every time I went there. The work ethic in some is very low. I don't go very much these days. Got tired of checking out my groceries myself and not getting compensated.

Many retail outlets have gone to all self checkouts. I went to Lowes to pick up some paint and there were no cashiers. Only self check outs. The individual standing around doing nothing said to me...I love my job. I just stand here while the customer does all the work and I get paid. I haven't been back.

At my local Walmart a customer at selfcheck was needing assistance. They kept trying to get the supervisors attention(he was standing 6 ft. From him). Through the several attempts, the attention was raised of an off duty associate. She stepped up and assisted the customer. She then turned around and asked ," Did you not see/hear this customer? Why weren't you helping them? He acknowledged that he didn't respond to the pronouns they were
using.

Walmart been destroyed the regular 3 shift dynamics, majority of employees are off Monday and Tuesday and work Wednesday through Sunday. Employees come in 5,6,7,8,9,10 am in different positions and the majority only get 36 hours and peak out at pay raise not getting another raise ever at that peak.
I think COVID happened. Even though it's been almost 5 years you would think they'd put the graveyard shifts back in rotation. I totally missed the 24 hr Walmart days, and it was nice not to run into shipment or someone inconveniently stocking a product every time you turned your cart down a isle lol

DEI mandates preferences based on things that are irrelevant, simple. For example, I worked at a company that struggled to sell a certain product. Most of the staff were selling 0 - 3 of them per month. I routinely and consistently sold 20 - 30 of them per month and sat in a meeting where a woman of color who sold 6 of them that one particular month was presented as a miracle worker and spoke to everyone about how she did it.
This statement doesn’t add up. If the mean was 0-3 and you sold 20-30, then some other factors were overlooked. Like how long you were with the business, your clientele and other preferences. With that being said, the lady selling 6 still was an above average feat that needed to be celebrated. Hopefully encouraging other to shoot for the same. We don’t know if she worked overtime to achieve those results or went out of her way to accommodate clients. Good job to you for holding down the company but you aren’t the only one to celebrate. She showed growth nonetheless.

I work at Walmart and a lot of people just waste time. People spend more time on their phones and in the bathroom then they do their actual jobs.
I used to see that every time I went there. The work ethic in some is very low. I don't go very much these days. Got tired of checking out my groceries myself and not getting compensated.

I know what you mean. I am a senior lady and I don't mind ringing up one or two items however, since I am not on anyones payroll, I will not do my own checking out. Many retail outlets have gone to all self checkouts. I went to Lowes to pick up some paint and there were no cashiers. Only self check outs. The individual standing around doing nothing said to me...I love my job. I just stand here while the customer does all the work and I get paid. I haven't been back.
