  • In this video I want to show you my DIY take on the Mutable Instruments Rings Eurorack module.
Unlike in previous videos about my Mutable Instruments clones, I will not go much into details about the building process, as I already covered the basics of that process in other videos, e.g. the Plaits video.
The main part is about a jam session with the module and a simple sequence, which was quite fun for me.
As for my other modules, you can find all details for your own build at GitHub:
    github.com/TOI...
    Enjoy

Great! I am curious to see the modules in your rack. I shared my email address in the channel info. If you like, you can send me a photo of your finished build.

Hi, looking for that email address but I can't find it. Was wondering if you had some guidance on LED resistor values for Rings and Clouds

Difficult to give a recommendation for LED resistors, since it depends on the LEDs used. In my case with blue/red bi-color and blue single-color LEDs I used the following values. For Clouds: 10K for single-color LED (freeze) and also for blue side of bi-color LED (green in the original). 1K for red side of bi-color LED. For Rings: 4.7K for blue side and 1K for red side. You might have to try out different values. Just make sure that not one of the colors for the bi-color LEDs is too bright. Otherwise you will not get the necessary mix, and e.g. just see red. The the resistor value of that color needs to be increased.
Concerning the email address, it should be visible in the channel infos. At least I already got emails from others, so I assumed it is showing up there.

    Hi TOIL,
as always thanks for sharing your work on these modules. I also ordered the Thonk versions of Rings, however JLCPCB noticed an issue with the vias/holes at the bottom of the Gerber_CtrlBoard_Thonk design - these vias are not complete circles as they are too close to the bottom edge. Can you check please (I guess you didn't order Thonk style PCB's).

Thanks for informing me, Texy. I forgot to adjust the size of the board, so that the Thonk jacks with the different connector positions still fit on the board. I uploaded an adjusted Gerber file on GitHub.
