If you’re new to our channel, here’s just a little introduction. We are Julie and Martin and in 2021 we sold our house and gave up our jobs, to live full time on a narrowboat. We bought our 2004 narrowboat Rhapsody in Blue in the September and have been living full time onboard ever since. We hadn’t intended on vlogging, but recorded videos for ourselves and family and it has escalated into the weekly vlogs you see today, so lovely to have you all onboard! ❤️

Hello to you both. Just to let you know that we tried your HotPot recipe last night. Well it was so delicious we couldn’t stop picking after our main meal. Fortunately we made enough for two meals so we have another to come. The suet pastry was just divine and the gravy was soaked up by the potatoes. Fabulous. Recipes like that are always welcome. Oh, those reflections are just awesome to see! Saying prayers for those who are stuck in the Bridgewater Ye 'Ol No. 3 area. The footage we saw was horrific. Hate to see anyone stuck there, but glad you guys don't seem to be affected where you are. Blessings to all.

Just managed to catch up with your video after a trying day yesterday. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you both. It is good to see the affection you have for each other. Anyway, back to the video. You commented at the beginning on the 'fog'. I thought of it as atmospheric because of the way your video caught it. Cracking photography, as usual, regarding the reflections. Your new camera looks good. Loved your New Year celebrations. Just as an aside, I had a great 80th birthday on 28th. I saw cousins I hadn't seen for over 4 years. Sorry to bore you with that. Hi Neil, yes thankfully we are not near the breach, the Bridgwater canal was in our plans for this year’s cruising, but we’ll have to rethink. We’re just glad that nobody got hurt and everyone is safe over there, it’s awful! Happy New Year Neil! xx

We made up your hot pot New Years day and we absolutely loved it, so much so it's now on our regular menu and will be known as Julie's hot pot. Hi Ruth & David, our plans did involve the Bridgwater, but not until later in the year, so we will just revise our route. It’s awful isn’t it, just so glad everyone is ok and nobody got hurt! xx

Yes, Andy is at work, but quite a way away. Also, his car broke down and needed extensive & expensive repairs, which has delayed him getting back to the boat.

Hi guys I don't know if you know but there's been a breech at little bollington I've just seen it on Taylor's aboard a narrowboat if you search for them on UA-cam you might be able to see the footage from their drone x

You say the Taylors are friends of yours, but if you have read any of my comments on their channel, you will see I am not a fan. I personally found them irresponsible cruising against red board warnings on the Thames, Orange warnings on the Severn or Avon, and nearly capsized. They broke their tiller due to cruising in strong currents, but worst of all for me was when they just abandoned their cat on the canal when it went off. Sorry to you for that, but you are responsible boaters. In my book, they are not. Because of the Bridgewater disaster, they are caught up in, Diane has cancelled their CRT licence direct debit letting the likes of you to pay to keep the waterways open and safe.

Can't imagine Heidi and rum in the same sentence. 😏 Looks like you had a great evening. I watched Barbie. It was pretty cold so not many fireworks but since it was cold my newly adopted indoor/outdoor cat was inside with the other two and me. Smart boy. 😊 Hopefully you aren't anywhere near the Bridgewater breach. What a terrible tragedy and mess. For us they predict a polar vortex hitting mostly north and east of me... Looks like it will affect the UK as well. 🥶 I bought baking potatoes so I'm going to try one with beans. Happy New Year! ❤

Hi... what do you mean when you say snake bridges? I've never heard that term. I'm in the US though.

When the towpath changes from one side of the canal to the other, a Snake bridge, also known as a Turnover bridge, allows you to walk from one side to the other. They were especially designed to allow the horses to pull a boat without having to untie the rope and have to re- tie once through the bridge. Such a clever piece of engineering and so beautiful to look at too! Thanks! xx
