The sasuke retrieval arc would've been the best setting for a sasuke v neji fight. Like have sasuke lose to neji, solidifying his need to get more power through orochimaru. Or have him use everything he had to beat neji who has an "inferior" dojutsu.
Considering how they view themselves, you'd think it would've been a huge thing for both of them being the prodigal son of each clan (obviously Sasuke is kind of the de facto only choice but still would've been regardless) and how much they think of themselves as superior to others as a result of that level of potential.
Ya know, something funny I thought about after watching this, would be the implied scene with Gohan at Kami house. "Yeah, Mom seemed really upset with Dad. She wanted me out of the house for a few hours." _Master Roshi, flashing back to the 'I want another baby!' scene, starts his old lech laugh, at low intesity_ "That's never happened before. She must be really laying into him." _Laughter intensifies_ "I hope she doesn't ride him too hard about it... why are you laughing?" "Hey, Gohan, lets go visit Bulma!"
You know, speaking of Gohan, in the original anime, this one filler week has some of my favorite episodes. One of them includes Gohan's encounter with Mercenary Tao. It is shown that Gohan is a gentle soul who does his best to avoid fighting, but will still do it to protect others. Then there was the episode about Gohan's childhood, where he casually flies through a tree as a baby. This proves that he has incredible hidden power, something we've known since the beginning, but also that Goku remembers it. Thanks to these episodes, Gohan's transformation doesn't come out of nowhere, at least that's what I think the writing was aiming at.
I imagine Popo just grabs Vegeta by the hair, goes to the edge, and whips him straight down so fast it's like an instant transmission from Vegeta standing there and flying towards the ground XD
I love Chi-Chi's concern for the time chamber having the same energy as a dad taking his toddler on a fishing trip without a life jacket without the mom knowing.
I fully believe Mr. Popo is capable of defying physics enough to either punch or throw Vegeta from where they were standing, sending him across the lookout, and then curving straight down as he plummets toward the earth.
You know, I'm so glad that Gohan didn't go through puberty while in the time chamber with Goku in DBZA. I can only imagine how well _"the talk"_ would have gone with him.
I bet Chi-Chi would have Gohan go to Vegeta for it since everyone else is either a virgin, has no idea for the saiyan side of Gohans DNA or is his Grandpa also the fact Vegeta would probably be the best for "the talk" since royalty and proper education and saiyan stuff
@@dmitrivalyria1315 Even funnier idea than Vegeta having to havethe talk with Gohan, Chi-Chi actually asking Vegeta about it so she can teach it herself. Bonus points if Trunks is present too and awkwardly realizing stuff he didn't know about his own biology for obvious reasons.

When Vegeta pushes Mister Popo's button, I love the blink-and-you-miss-it detail as he zooms past Korin that he's in Super Saiyan form. As the three of them say, that confirms this wasn't a "pecking order" style sucker punch, it was a deliberate action that Vegeta tried and failed to resist.

22:45 I’m imagining the Prowler theme playing as Chi-Chi stares right at Goku. You know that meme of Goku that’s been floating around? Imagine that, but with Chi-Chi.
Something I find funniest with Picolo in the Time Chamber is if you do the math then 3 days in the chamber is 1 minute outside. So he literally slammed the door and the 1 minute later opened it and said "I'm out"
If I’m doing my math right, it comes out to 12 minutes. 1year/24= approximately 15 days (every hour, 15 days pass) (1year/24)/60= approximately 6 hours (every minute, 6 hours pass) ((1year/24)/60)*12= approximately 72 hours (every 12 minutes, 72 hours (3 days) passes)
@@Putnam3145 Right, I did it the long way so that I could see the step-by-step of the timescale, in order to make sure I was getting the right answer. (Google was not liking the way I was typing it in for the short way.)
Fun fact: In the latest Dragon Ball Super arc, Frieza spent the equivalent of ten years inside of a Hyperbolic Time Chamber after discovering one on one of his conquered planets. In his appearance afterwards, he seems oddly mellowed out. Maybe he went so crazy from being in the chamber solo for 10 years that he just chilled out a bit lmao
You know its kind of a subtle display of respect Vegeta does for piccolo by just assuming he was the one that killed him instead of nappa. Hes basically one of the few fighters Vegeta takes seriously
To be fair (regarding Chi-Chi's grunting) she's not human. Her father is the Ox King who was originally considered to be a type of demon. We know nothing about her mom. So at most she half human. This is might be why Gohan is so much stronger than Trunks.
not 100% on that? I've only ever watched the dub (with the sub on for the last watch though mostly so I can see how different it was) so I might be missing something but from what I remember he was never refereed to as a Demon in DB, but a Bandit yes. Journey to the West Ox King is 100% a Demon though, so I can see it kinda going either way

funny thing with King Furry (the "dog president") is that he's been king/president/whatever of the entire world since Goku was a kid and presumably before then too. I guess he must be really popular.
Honestly, for Mr Popo throwing Vegeta, I feel like he would instead be all, "Hey by the way, come over here for a moment." and leads Vegeta to the edge of the Lookout. "Can you see the ground from here?" Vegeta confused like..."No..." Popo: "Oh, well how about a closer look?" and then one-handed, grabs Vegeta and throws him straight down.
I love the dichotomy between goku and gohan going in the time chamber compared to trunks and vegeta. Especially how since vegeta never guided trunks or trained with him, even though trunks trained for 1 year he never learned the drawbacks of grade 3 and suffered for that unlike gohan who was taught by goku.
7:35 This basically actually played out in Super at the end of the Tournament of Power arc. Goku and Frieza fighting together and Vegeta looking on from the side being absolutely distressed about Goku leaving him.
I really love the character development these last few episodes as Taka finally learns the lines. It really shows his growth as not just an actor but as a person as we all know it couldn't have been easy for him but his dedication and persistence has finally paid off.
I quote "Oh, that's accidental" in response to someone saying "I don't mean to be that guy" ALL THE TIME One of my favorite Vegeta lines in the whole series, because it's so subtle (for him, anyway).
14:36 Someone pointed this out in the original video how the call on the other end is sped up. Can be understood at x0.25 or x0.50 speed. "When you think about it, you kill us, so it doesn't matter. Basically, it's a win-win either way."
23:00 I honestly really like the little course correction in Episode 56. Personally, I didn't see the end of this episode to be concerning when it aired, but afterwards I could also understand why it would be seen that way. So just those few lines in the next episode not only made for a good scene with good jokes, but also clarified something like this for anyone who was conflicted.
Even though Gohan had foreshadowing for how strong he was throughout the series, the Cell Games focused on every character BUT Gohan so it's kind of annoying that the climax of the arc was in a semi random catalyst with 16 who he never interacted with prior.
You know that is true so if you aren't a fan of Gohan you are just sitting there going, "wait he's gonna beat Cell...he can't be that strong can." Nut when Super Sayian 2 happens it does help the whole out of left field call.
Albeit there is some precedence here if we consider Future Gohan and what he was trying to do as the last remaining Z-Fighter in Trunks future, which was stopping the Androids. Past Gohan fighting and defeating the ultimate Android is really book ends type of stuff in that regard.
it was less about 16 and more about the fact that a robot was expressing the same admiration and care for plants and wildlife that gohan does before immediately being stomped on by cell, it was the last straw rather than the only trigger for his ssj2 anyway, he'd been getting beaten down for ages before this and then cell beat up all his friends at once
Which is why I like the idea proposed by MistareFusion that 16 should have been a modified or rebuilt version of 8, which gives him a direct connection to Goku and might justify why he turns good. He wasn't even supposed to be Gevo back then so it could work instead of creating a new android.
I love that the last commentary ended with you guys talking about the quality of the ads you make, and this one starts with a low budget lani dressed as a sales shark.
Oh hell yeah, I *love* this episode! The whole "black man" gag with Vegeta and Popo is one of my favorite out of the entire series! I still quote it at random to this day. 🤣🤣🤣
I'd love to see that joke taka brought up. I started giggling thinking about it. "So... Dad... You're a prince, right? So what was grandfather, the king, like?" Vegeta: _EXPONENTIALLY INCREASING RAGE_

@@cctomcat321you’re right. I’ll make that adjustment as that is much better.
19:45 I imagine Popo kicked him towards the edge, flew past Vegeta, then heel drop kicked his ass spiking him down Korin's tower.
And then uses the momentum from the drop to backflip back on to the Lookout.
16:20 Nah because, Cell actually adapting to Goku's wavelength instead of getting disrupted by it like everyone else is what makes their interactions hilarious.
I mean, plus he is part goku
I believe you mean: Perfect~
Kaiser as Sharpener doing the whole 'he knows i love him, you know i love you' bit has taken over my brain and I'm doing it to people now. I'm obsessed, best abridged take i ever could have possibly imagined. Just wanted to say it. My god it's so good.
Me too!
@@joelle4226 i can't stop doing it and some folks have no clue what I'm even doing.
To add to what Kaiser said. In Naruto it's weird Sasuke never fought Neji.
Glad you said it I was thinking the same but wasn’t 100% sure if they did or didn’t
@@FifaPerezor Hinata, because as much it was anime only, she went up against Pain. So iwe don't have a official scale where these families scale
I also thought about that match
The sasuke retrieval arc would've been the best setting for a sasuke v neji fight. Like have sasuke lose to neji, solidifying his need to get more power through orochimaru. Or have him use everything he had to beat neji who has an "inferior" dojutsu.
Considering how they view themselves, you'd think it would've been a huge thing for both of them being the prodigal son of each clan (obviously Sasuke is kind of the de facto only choice but still would've been regardless) and how much they think of themselves as superior to others as a result of that level of potential.
I do love the line from Cell, “I’m gonna miss him when he’s dead.” Just adds to the clear appreciation Cell has for Goku.
Ya know, something funny I thought about after watching this, would be the implied scene with Gohan at Kami house.
"Yeah, Mom seemed really upset with Dad. She wanted me out of the house for a few hours."
_Master Roshi, flashing back to the 'I want another baby!' scene, starts his old lech laugh, at low intesity_
"That's never happened before. She must be really laying into him."
_Laughter intensifies_
"I hope she doesn't ride him too hard about it... why are you laughing?"
"Hey, Gohan, lets go visit Bulma!"
That line where Piccolo’s heart skips a beat is genuinely endearing.
“He only fights you, he does battle with me.”😭
Fights with piccolo, battles with hit... brawls with vegeta
I fully believe Mr. Popo is capable of defying physics enough to either punch or throw Vegeta from where they were standing, sending him across the lookout, and then curving straight down as he plummets toward the earth.
Vegeta talking to hit, “you’re temporary, kakarot knows where home is.”
Lani disappearing every time there’s an instant transmission will never get old
Omg I didn’t even notice that!
This is the first time I noticed it. Excellent gag, editor(s).
Its fantastic, I loved that bit
You know, I'm so glad that Gohan didn't go through puberty while in the time chamber with Goku in DBZA. I can only imagine how well _"the talk"_ would have gone with him.
Yeah, I think Gohan would have been *really* embarrassed explaining the bees and the flowers to Goku
Nah, Chi-Chi would teach Gohan everything.
Chi-Chi would be clear about the anatomy of the birds and the bees but not the context or feeling behind it
@@dmitrivalyria1315 Even funnier idea than Vegeta having to havethe talk with Gohan, Chi-Chi actually asking Vegeta about it so she can teach it herself. Bonus points if Trunks is present too and awkwardly realizing stuff he didn't know about his own biology for obvious reasons.
Piccolo and Tien are not having the same conversation for even a second, and I love it.
It’s going to be a treat to watch them react to Taka singing “My Way”
Sadly I think that might be muted even though it's taka singing cuz of copyright

Abridged Cell's ability to just roll with Goku's nonsense is *amazing*
The two are completely on the same wavelength and its hillarious
Me and my girlfriend were watching this, sharing earphones, and when we got to 13:06, we were both confused why I couldn't hear Kami and she couldn't hear Nail!
The sound mixing is NEXT LEVEL XD
That's so sweet
Bruh that’s amazing
That was actually mentioned a few episodes back, that was intentional but it shouldn't be a hard pan, just like 80% so you should have been able to just barely hear Kami. Barely.
19:50 I like the idea that Popo is so strong he can fling Vegeta down to Earth from Kami's Lookout despite the fact that Vegeta CAN FLY
Vegeta is trying his hardest to slow down and nowhere near succeeding 🤣
Like, the reason it's taking that long is because Vegeta is trying to fly up.
I really love the way Goku goes, 'I'll go check' and just teleports to Cell
Super underrated piece of continuity: Piccolo starts going crazy by day 3 of being in the chamber alone, and then Vegeta also goes crazy within 3 days of being in the chamber alone
22:12 Oh my god! I just realized:
Chichi: "he said one week, and im using it".
Same as Roshi changing the tv channel and going "he said one week im using it!"
"Did our heart just skip a beat?" Honestly, may be my favorite Piccolo moment.
He's not in Ssj form. His hair is black. Go through it frame by frame using the < & > keys on your keyboard(if you're using one) and you'll see what I mean.
@@ecwfanatic22 Welp, I'm blind. It always looked blond to me in the motion of it.
@@RmsOceanic I think it has to do with the effects that are surrounding him during the animation, that cause it to look like he’s glowing, much like a Ssj.
He's got a bubble of Ki around him like he's trying to stop himself but failing miserably.
15:40 - I feel like Cell is the pinnacle of "Yes, and"ing for a character that is just off the walls and incredible hard to actually yes, and for most other people
I love how the series progressively changed from them cringing at jokes and having to explain what went through their minds to just having a great time and laughing at their own jokes while watching. I love this.
22:45
I’m imagining the Prowler theme playing as Chi-Chi stares right at Goku.
1year/24= approximately 15 days (every hour, 15 days pass)
(1year/24)/60= approximately 6 hours (every minute, 6 hours pass)
((1year/24)/60)*12= approximately 72 hours (every 12 minutes, 72 hours (3 days) passes)

@@aqwkingchampion13 (3/365) days = .197 hours = 11.8 minutes, is another way to do this
@@Putnam3145 Right, I did it the long way so that I could see the step-by-step of the timescale, in order to make sure I was getting the right answer. (Google was not liking the way I was typing it in for the short way.)
I love Goku's "That's how days work" line because that's the one time _he's_ perplexed by what he perceives as someone else being stupid.
The more cool and calculated Frieza gets the scarier he gets. Crazed Frieza makes mistakes.
Clearly he went mad but got bored with that and went sane. Very sane!

You know its kind of a subtle display of respect Vegeta does for piccolo by just assuming he was the one that killed him instead of nappa. Hes basically one of the few fighters Vegeta takes seriously
19:32 I imagine Vegeta in a crater doing the Yamcha death pose after this.
10:55
"An independent sucker!"
To be fair (regarding Chi-Chi's grunting) she's not human. Her father is the Ox King who was originally considered to be a type of demon. We know nothing about her mom. So at most she half human. This is might be why Gohan is so much stronger than Trunks.
Ox King is a demon in Journey to the West but I don't believe it's ever stated Ox King in Dragon Ball is anything but a human.
OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THAT
not 100% on that? I've only ever watched the dub (with the sub on for the last watch though mostly so I can see how different it was) so I might be missing something but from what I remember he was never refereed to as a Demon in DB, but a Bandit yes. Journey to the West Ox King is 100% a Demon though, so I can see it kinda going either way
14:21 Lani instant transmissioning edit was clean.
I love how the further we get into these the more TFS enjoy their own work, just constantly laughing and quoting themselves
I love how Taka's character development is throughout these commentary videos. From screwing up the last line, to finally knowing what to say. So proud of you

Also I love how TFS points out how the civilians of Dragonball have as bad of a long term memory as Toriyama. And can TFS PLEASE post outtakes and bloopers of the recording sessions, I need to hear the flubs and bloopers, especially for “KA..ME..HA..ME………HAAAAAAA”.
Now I'm picturing the Vegeta and Hit conversation echoing through Hit's head when he sees Goku fighting Jiren.
funny thing with King Furry (the "dog president") is that he's been king/president/whatever of the entire world since Goku was a kid and presumably before then too.
I guess he must be really popular.
He's the King of a Global Parliamentary Monarchy. His entire line has been in power since his ancestor made a wish on The Dragon Balls.
Vegeta just casually speaking to popo the god calling him black man is way funnier than it has any right to be 😂
7:35 This basically actually played out in Super at the end of the Tournament of Power arc. Goku and Frieza fighting together and Vegeta looking on from the side being absolutely distressed about Goku leaving him.
It was more that he could barely fathom the idea of Goku fighting in perfect sync with FRIEZA of all people
@@ShadowKamehameha32 same thing really, he fights so well with frieza despite doing that with vegeta for years
I really love the character development these last few episodes as Taka finally learns the lines. It really shows his growth as not just an actor but as a person as we all know it couldn't have been easy for him but his dedication and persistence has finally paid off.
"I wish I were a carrot" 😂

One of my favorite Vegeta lines in the whole series, because it's so subtle (for him, anyway).
I don't get it, can you explain the joke?
@@idiatico Because even though Trunk is saying "I don't wanna be that guy", he is in fact "being that guy"
I always assumed 16's favorite bird was a duck because of Krillin
14:36 Someone pointed this out in the original video how the call on the other end is sped up. Can be understood at x0.25 or x0.50 speed.
"When you think about it, you kill us, so it doesn't matter. Basically, it's a win-win either way."
I never realized the grunting, but can we all agree from that fact, that chichi 100% tops goku!
You know what more strange than Piccolo and Vegeta never fighting?
The only people Piccolo killed were Raditz and Goku.
Mr. Popo yeeting Vegeta off the Lookout is perfect.
@@AlastorNahIdWinRadioDemon but that’s not revealed in detail before the fight. The narrative build up and payoff is missing
Which is why I like the idea proposed by MistareFusion that 16 should have been a modified or rebuilt version of 8, which gives him a direct connection to Goku and might justify why he turns good. He wasn't even supposed to be Gevo back then so it could work instead of creating a new android.
The great thing about Bulma saying penguins is that the linux mascot is one. Unintentional "Bulma is a linux nerd" joke.
