I used to ride that trail, as well as around UCSB, back in the '70s when I lived in the L.A. area. It was my favorite trail. This video sure brings back fond memories of that area.
Coming back from Ellwood/UCSB, you can turn right at La Cumbre and ride through Hope Ranch, then past Hendry's Beach. More scenic than the main roads/Las Positas. If you have a MTB, the Ellwood mesa area has some fun little jumps and swoopy single track along the bluffs. Finally, as they're going up the "grueler" climb at the end, Elings Park is on the bluffs to their left. It has a whole network of MTB singletrack, including jumps at the top and several downhill runs.
This was great. I'm in Camarillo and often ride in Santa Barbara but didn't know about the gravel above Isle Vista. Definitely going to take my cyclocross bike there. Thanks for the video
