At $8 a night, you'd think that campsite would be packed! I only drove through Chicago once. I had my GPS set to avoid tolls so I ended up in some super sketch areas before I realized it. With so many van life channels focused on the desert, forest, or mountains, it's nice to see some urban stuff for a change!

Thank you so very much for taking us in the heart of Chicago. Was there in my motor home 40’s years ago, was a traveler for 5 years, and did boom docking also! Yes, about 5-6 yrs ago, made a delivery in Chicago around 9pm and stopped by a little pizza place, and guy informed me I was his last customer because he was closing for the night and I could get 2 for the price of 1 !! OMG 2 lg loaded, Chicago pan pizza for $20!! OMG so much, gave one away to a couple with a kid living in their little van, and took me 3 days to eat mine, but oh so good!! ❤❤ Love the video!!!
Felt completely safe in the city. Like any major city i’m sure it has worse areas than other but the touristy parts are just fine. You should go it’s a cool town. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I LOVE Chicago. One of the things I love to do is look at all the gargoyles on the tops of buildings. I've taken hundreds of pictures. I used to go to Chi Town often for business. ☮️
HOOOOOMMMMEEEE!!!! I'm a Chicago native, currently displaced up in Milwaukee and any time I see footage of my city I get excited! I love my city and miss it so much. I can't even explain. Lower Wacker Drive. If you've ever seen The Blues Brothers, you'll see it. Just so much nostalgia, so many great memories, stages of my growing up. Chicago played such a massive role in my personality. I will admit, Chicago Deep Dish, not an "every day" kind. Chicagoans usually leave that for out-of-towners or special occasions. We typically eat a Chicago style THIN crust. It is NOT the same as a St. Louis style cracker crust, they are different. A Chicago thin is square cut slices, not quite as crispy as a St. Louis style. That's our "every day" pizza. North Siders, like myself, know: Piquad's is OUR Pizza!

From the west coast i have taken the train, flown, and driven (RV) to Chicago and La Porte IN. to visit relatives....Am no big city fan no how no way but have always found Chicago interesting when there...Its good for a visit anywho....Just watched RVer TV do the route 66 ride but he joined it down around Springfield a bit south of ya....Looking forward to seeing the trip, stay safe, be well...

Not all hype, certain areas are sketchy. I've spent hours and hours walking all over Chicago at all hours of the night. Usually with girlfriends. I've had many adventures but never 21:11 felt like I was in danger. Except that one time I was in a limo on my way to a convention and a car next to us had some young men that pulled a gun and brandished it at us. It was full daylight. I immediately slid down to the floor. My boss did not see what I saw and wondered what the hell was wrong with me. Ah well, I lived to tell the tale. 😂 ☮️
like every big city there are going to be dangerous areas and safe areas! Hope you are not disappointed in route 66, to me the beginning and end have their charms but most of the rest of the way is the least interesting scenery in America, LOL
