Finally, a video that goes through the legacy and importance of the KJV. When I searched it, all that came up were videos on the controversy on KJV-only. I just want to see an honest appreciation of it, and this video did that!

The NKJV is NOT a "fifth revision of the original", it is an entirely new work, which deviates from the KJV in 1200 places in the N.T., then following the critial text. It is absolutely no use. It changes the narrow way to a "difficult" way in Matthew 7:13-14, thus making salvation difficult (works salvation), whereas narrow relates to having to abstain from wordly things. The NKJV stands for the NON King James Version. I stick with the King's Book, the AV, till my dying day, and let Satan wipe his rear end in hell with his cheap immitation.

There is a great and very readable book describing the making of the Bible. "God's Secretaries: The making of the King James Bible" by Adam Nicholson. An excellent read, with lots of sidelights and insights. I am a non-believer, although I was raised in a Chrsitian family. But, non-believer that I am, I still have a great deal of respect for the English of the King James Bible. It is no surprise to me that it was written at the same time as Shakespear was writing plays. The language they used was very poetic, and powerful. Newer translations are pale and lifeless by comparison.

@@throckmortensnivel2850 It is interesting that those who actually read the book in the translation process became the best Christians ever - including the king himself. Common sense says that after you read the gospels - not from a historical or study perspective, but let the story settle into your soul, there is so much power and intelligence, one would be a fool NOT to believe and know God. And when that takes place, everything changes for the better. There are amazing secrets in there to be discovered that will allow you to do what Jesus did. Nothing else in the world can accomplish that. I have and it is one heck of a great ride.

    • @qwiklok

@@throckmortensnivel2850 Why do you think Jesus came to Planet Earth in the first place? What did He teach his disciples for 3+ years - certainly this cannot mean a religious exercise - they were already too religious and had to be purged - it is something far deeper, yes? To do miracles? He did that - lots of them. To save us? Well, that is the common small talk. It is true, but why spend 3 years in teaching something else? There is something far deeper, better and that needs to be explored.
For example, Jesus talks to a tree. Now, who in their right mind talks to a tree commanding it to never bear fruit again? That is nuts, yet this is Jesus talking, God in a human avatar body. All the disciples heard Jesus and saw the results. Peter asks “How did you do that” (my words, but the intent is clear). The answer is astonishing: “Have faith in God. Not only can YOU DO what was done to the fig tree . . . . woah! Wait a minute there. Jesus says, you guys, (and that can include us today), can do what He did? That is your first clue right there. Then a life threatening storm and Jesus talks it to nothing in seconds - and chastises the boys for their lack of faith - in other words, you could have done this too! This is a common theme. Then on multiple occasions, he tells them to raise the dead back to life. Dead for how long? Hours, days, years? Dead is dead. And to cast out demons. And to heal ALL manner of diseases of every kind. He commands us to do the same - the very things that Jesus did and taught.
So are you to ignore this? Pass it off as fancy? Fluff? Or take it an run with it? This IS what Jesus was here for - to reveal the new covenant and to teach us to learn it, apply it and run with it. 3 years of intense training was for a reason. That is what the Bible is all about. A new set of life rules. It is not theology and religion. It is a game changer.

Thank you for the interesting stuff.
However, there wouldn't be ANY so-called "King James Bible" had it not been for one avid and thirsty for power tyrant who couldn't part with, but rather clutched to this power-insane desire to retain his one single bottom on the two whole thrones of England and Scotland. And who was also obsessed by the concept of "The Divine Right of Kings" , a teddybear surrealistic fabulous theory of his own fancy which, from his point of view, gave him a license to act like a vicar of God on Planet Earth. However, The Geneva Bible being in predominant circulation of the folks of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland didn't agree with this surrealistic theory of his and called a spade a spade in every aspect of the English, Scottish and Irish (and, later, American) life. So he made up his mind to burk it completely by inventing his own brainchild that would comfortably sit well with his political and social aspirations and suit his power-thirsty notions likewise.
Here are specific facts and figures which go the whole hog and depict this KJV version together with its pompously tough sponsor James all nine yards.
1.. Genesis 22;1 the KJV says: "And after these things God did tempt Abraham". Now, does God really tempt a person? Is God involved in the business of temptation? When even in KJV in The Epistle of James in the N.T. it is explicitly indicated: "for God tempts no one, neither is tempted by evil..." So how come, then, the KJV translators depict God as the tempter in the O.T. and speak well of God Almighty the way it duly becomes of Him in the New one? Does God change????????????????????? WHO, what creature is in the business of tempting people? Is it not satan?
In contrast, The Geneva Bible reads: "And after these things God did PROVE Abraham" which I believe is the TRUE and correct conveyance from the Hebrew original. The terms "TEMPT" and "PROVE" are never synonyms! I hope you would kindly agree with it . God NEVER tempts anyone, God TESTS us, but NEVER tempts - the business of tempting belongs to satan and his demons (Luke 4:1-4)
.2. Genesis 15:6 "And Abraham believed in God and God credited it to him as righteousness". Good grief... didn't Abraham commence to believing IN God since the very inception when God called out to him in Genesis chapter 12 to "leave his country and his people and go to the land God was about to show Abraham"? Did not Abraham believe in God's existence back then? According to the Book of Jasher, Abraham was considered to be the disciple of Noah. And, using Noah, God had been in the thorough process of teaching and guiding Abraham in all things. Therefore, before Abraham had ever reached Genesis chapter 15, he already was in cognition of God, doubtlessly being aware of His entire existence!
In contrast The Geneva Bible signifies lucidly in Genesis 15:6 that. "Abraham BELIEVED The Lord" (not IN the Lord)! And there is also a reference to this verse in Hebrews quoting this verse without "IN"!
    3. Psalm 24:6 the KJV says: "of those who seek your face, O Jacob". Now a question, WHOSE face it's deemed for everyone to seek? The face of God, or the face of Jacob, who himself was the one who sought God and prayed to Him?
In contrast, The Geneva Bible says in this verse: "of those who seek your face, this is Jacob" which appears t be the paramount pertinent, intrinsic and lucid one due to its palpable logically reasonable consistence.
    4. In N.T. in The Book of Acts chapter 14 it is being narrated about the Passover taking place in the days of Unleavened Bread with king Herod killing Apostle James with the sword and "because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also". The KJV names this period as "The Easter" which can by no means be attributed to this Glorious Event ! But much rather, easter is a revelry-boozing,impurity-cracking pagan feast which was totally illegal in Israel under the penalty of the participants being stoned to death! In contrast, The Geneva Bible puts THE CORRECT TERM to this Event: "The Passover" instead of this negligibly obscure term "ester".
    5. 1 Samuel chapter 16 verse 14, where the KJV puts it, that "The Spirit of The Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit of The Lord vexed him". A grievous insult upon The Lord again! Do evil spirits co-exist in the Lord"s Kingdom?
In contrast, the Geneva Bible translated it this way: "and an evil spirit SENT of The Lord, vexed him "(emphasis mine). THIS word SENT makes a bombastic, mind-blowing difference indeed. It clearly points out, that The Lord is Sovereign in the Universe, commanding everyone and everything He deems necessary to, for the purpose of carrying out His Sovereign Will!
    6. Isaiah 60:1, KJV "Arise, shine. For thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee."
Can anyone perspiciously explicate WHO is being addressed here? WHOM is all this speech conveyed to?
The Geneva Bible says it clearly: "Arise, O Jrusalem, be bright. For thy light is come. And the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee". Here the subject is at face salience. It is Jerusalem that the emphasis is focused upon.
    7. Mark 16:18 " They shall take up serpents (KJV). Sorry... what is the point for the disciples to take up serpents? Were they\ disciples meant to caress the serpents like babies in their arms? Does it make any sense?
In contrast, the Geneva Bible is crystal clear about it: "And they shall take away serpents".
"Take up" and "Take away' are not one and same peas in a pod! It is a different story altigether. And it is paramount evident that the "Take away" option is more relevant here, because it emphatically and robustly corroborates what The Lord told the disciples: "I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and nothing shall, by any means hurt you". .
    8. John 3:36, KJV: "He that believeth the Son hath everlasting life, and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life but the wrath abideth on him
John 3:36 )Geneva) "He that believeth the Son hath everlasting life, and he that obeyeth not the Son shall not see life but the wrath abideth on him" .
It is worthwhile to mention, that such renowned chracters like, William Shakespeare, John Milton, John Bunyan, William Bradford, William Penn Senior and Junior, Oliver Cromwell, John Knox, George Washington and US Founding Fathers had NEVER used nor quoted the King James Bible! The Bible of their choice was The Geneva Bible, the Bible of The Protestant Reformation.
So these are just a few facts of distorted translation which are clear and evident to making a point and difference as to what Bible version is worthy of trust and reliance on.
I do sincerely hope and pray that your success and The Lord"s grace keep enlightening you and keeping you blessed and au par.

    Essay alert…
In celebrating the KJV Bible I feel like this documentary looks over some very large and glaring flaws of King James. Let me preface by saying they’ve gone to great lengths to make him look a saint, which is a slap in the face to anyone who has a passing appreciation of this man’s history. I feel there’s a romanticising of him because his name is carried in the title of the KJV. Surely he must have been a man of great principals and conviction…
Some quick facts. He was not accommodating to all Christians, e.g the puritans would leave England for the new world because of him - go figure. The catholic clergy were forced to renounce the pope on account of him - not a true advocate for religious freedom in my opinion.
Aside from this he had several affairs which in turn lead to swift promotions in his court, which put much of his Lords off side. He would drive his personal finances into the ground over the course of mismanaging his responsibilities as king, often prioritising hunting.
His eldest son was favoured by the people as he invested in them but was rumoured to have been assasinated by his father in jealousy (I’ll grant this is debateable). He is also believed to have arranged the assassination of a noble family in Scotland that he was in debt to.
He believed in the absolute right of the King to rule unquestioned and unchallenged. This belief drawn to its conclusion would lead to the English civil war, where his son ’King Charles’ would be executed for his gross miss-use of this kind of power. Why is Queen Elizabeth’s era known as the Golden age and not his?
I think the KJV is a literary treasure but the man whose name it carries was no saint. Please, I’m not advocating to throw the baby out with the bath water!
The documentary fails to mention the many errors that were made on the initial publication. The same errors he accused the alternative translations of possessing.
Presenting a white washed history is dishonest and fails recognise that the people in this story were very human and not without their flaws. Tell the fraught story of this King and how it’s a miracle we have this translation at all! That’s a more interesting and compelling take on history. Ok I’m ready to be crucified now 😂

This video doesn't tell the entire story. The notes throughout the margins of the Geneva Bible angered the Catholic Church, since the notes deemed the act of confession to men (the Catholic Bishops) as unjustified by Holy Script. Man should confess to God only; man’s private life was man’s private life. King James deemed the Geneva Bible subversive, since the commentary allowed disobedience to tyrannical kings. King James went so far as to make ownership of the Geneva Bible a felony. He then proceeded to make his own version of the Bible, but without the marginal notes that had so disturbed him. During King James’s reign, and into the reign of Charles I, the Geneva Bible was gradually replaced by the King James Bible.

Funny statement considering it was Catholics who tried to kill King James and Parliament, while the Authorized Version was being translated.

Easter one time translated in the KJV is the only Catholic influence I see in the KJV Bible. It was Passover. Although the pagan Day of the worship of Eostre was well known, the word Easter that it came from was not known in the original manuscripts or the time of the gospels.,
