No, it's Slipknot.

@@tucanolegendasegameplays How... dare you
@@camerongilbert1257 Sorry :c
@@tucanolegendasegameplays lol all good. Slipknot definitely doesn't fit super well in any category, which they have done well to purposefully create that dilemma. This whole album, We Are Not Your Kind, is all about saying F U to labels and characterizing and compartmentalizing their music, which I think is amazing, because the only other group to do that is System of the Down, but SotD is so different from other metal. This song has elements of Nu, Heavy, Death, and a few other different styles, you almost want to call it Corey Taylor Metal or Slipknot Metal
They bounce between different forms of metal. That's why they are the greatest metal band of all time.
Unsainted, and this whole album, is about coming out above and conquering life’s vices and addictions. The line “I’ll never kill myself to save my soul” is about not resorting to addictions or self destructive habits in search of relief. Corey’s (lead singer) mask is modeled after a burn victim’s protective mask and is symbolic of the restorative/healing process of breaking habits and addictions.
The imagery of the church along side dark and creepy visuals, in my opinion, is to depict the dichotomy of life. How some can find healing in non-destructive manners (faith, worship, group therapy) and others elect to chase relief in the form of intoxication or self harm. This song is about choosing a path of healing that takes you away from the darkness and pain, without hurting yourself in the process.
It's also about Corey's divorce, "you've killed the saint in me, how dare you martyr me"
@@jonathanlusk9302 I think he's referring to life there honestly... His divorce was quite a while ago, most of those songs were probably on .05, or that is one interp of this song.
Religion isn't "non-destructive". Sure, it doesn't damage the body directly like drug addiction does, but instead it damages society and humanity as a whole. Religion promotes values that is harmful for women and minorities like homosexuals, trans-people and atheists. If we take a look at the Catholic church it's really damaging for children, I don't think I have to explain why. So by turning to religion for self healing you become a part of those problems and a reason for them to keep surviving and halting humanity's
development.
Religion cause a lot more damage than drugs ever will. Also drug use ≠ addiction. The vast majority of drug users will never become addicted. And drugs can work really well for healing, not just relief. Of course depending on the drug and how you use it. Cannabis is great for treating physical pain and can help you change your values and
opinions for the better, MDMA and Ecstasy is great for treating PTSD and psychedelics can cure depression and addiction.
@@hornet1065 turns out, if you make the extreme claim that religion damages society and humanity, you do need to "explain why," if any rational and sane person is going to believe you.
In present day it is still largely debated whether or not a strong religious presence promotes peace and welfare to society. However, studies show that countries with religious freedom such as the best country on Earth (in my opinion America) are more likely to be peaceful than a country without.
religiousfreedomandbusiness.org/2/post/2014/10/religious-freedom-linked-to-peace-finds-new-global-study.html
The study also suggests that communities with participating religious groups are slightly more peaceful than those who are not. Granted, this is just a study and isn't bulletproof, but at least it's quantifiable and empirically driven. What you said was asinine and stated as if it's absolute truth.
You choose only to see the negatives in particular religions. You act as if athiests can't be racists, homophobes, sexists, murderers, etc. There is plenty of good that comes from religious morals that you choose to ignore.
ALSO, the original commenter wasn't even supporting religion, he was simply explaining what the song is about. So I don't know what the imtent of your comment was.
@@hornet1065 last point. You take extreme examples of the positives for a minority group of people (those with PTSD etc.) and use that as a defense for drug use. The number of people who use those drugs for actual treatment versus recreational use is next to nothing, so there goes that trash argument.
Want to tell me drugs are doing less harm than religion? Tell that to the people on skid row and our rising homeless population, and all the opioid addicts we have.

This is the point past blind fury that burns even more intensely but leaves you utterly clear minded. Vicious joy, I guess you could call it. Exhilarating.
Btw I'm pretty sure that's how the Kaio-ken works.
Truer words have never been said
Every album, the members of this band get new masks. It started back when they were practicing together before their first album, somebody brought in a mask and brought up the idea of wearing them so people wouldn't focus on the band as personalities, but would focus more on the music. They also numbered themselves from 0-8 to, once again, avoid people latching onto their personalities like celebrities. It sorta backfired though since the masks are the most recognizable thing about them and people latched onto the masks.
They have always used very dark imagery in their look and sound, and that is a huge reason why they have such an intense cult-like following. Their dark lyrics conjure up dark emotions and give a voice to people struggling with those emotions that can't be open about it with people they interact with in everyday life without being looked down upon or pitied. This band is one of the greatest live bands of all time as well. Their shows are INTENSE.
I don't entirely understand all of the imagery in this particular video, like the old woman and stuff, but knowing these guys, they created every shot deliberately and with reason.

So many people get this wrong, it's literally in the title "Unsainted."
This song is about one tearing themselves away from the religion they were brought up in and the sheltered life they led as a child, because they discovered it wasn't the life they wanted to live. "I'll never kill myself to save my soul. I was lost but how was I to know?"
The angry mother figure in the beginning, then her face changes to sadness. Her trying to stop him from leaving. He talks about the change in their relationship and the love he lost. He was her sin.... He burns himself in effigy at the end... This all happens in a church....
Maybe it's just apparent to me because I went through it. Every lyric in this song hits home like a freight train.
Best ever description 🖤
Don’t know if it makes a difference but its “ i was gone but how was i to know?
Not particularly. Corey Taylor himself is atheist, wasn't brought up religiously, started smoking cigarettes at 10, weed at 12, and was using coke and meth by the age of 15 (by which time he had overdosed twice) It's quite far from a sheltered life. The song is about his, the general idea of addiction, and depression. Thats why when he says 'I'll never kill myself to save my soul', he's referring to how he will never take his own life in order to stop those feelings, but also how he will never go back to his vices in order to cure his depression. "I was gone but how was I to know' is in reference to how his depression and addictions had taken him over, but he was so caught up in it that how was he to know that he was that far gone.
Thats why the line 'I'm finally holding on to letting go' is him talking about holding on to letting go to his addictions and depression - not religion.
Bruh, I love this song. It takes me back to when I was in high school listing to their first couple albums on repeat every day. This song is literally making me feel like a kid again. I haven’t felt like this in ages. Slipknot, I’ve missed you.

Sometimes fears changes so masked changes.
As far as the song goes, it’s Corey Taylor’s representation of letting go of anxiety and addiction.

Slipknot-before I forget. It’s a little older but it’s a banger. The masks are part of the theatrics and partly so the fans would focus less on the band and more on the music. It’s great PR music.
I disagree about what you say concerning their reasoning behind the masks. They said that yea, but that obviously isn't the case.
No disrespect but you are 100% off. The masks have always been apart of the band not as a get up or a costume but each mask was made by each member to represent themselves. Corey (lead singer) has his mask, the new drummer jay has his, mick has his, jim has his, ect. But each mask is a visual representation on who that person is. They update their masks with every album so show the growth that they have made as a person.

In case it hasn't been stated, the band are a 9 piece that always wear masks. Each member has thier own mask and persona, and each album they change the mask subtly, whilst keeping thier identity similar. The masks were used as a gimmick, but also helped them feel free on stage, giving them the anonimity to act on stage and keep their home life separate...until they became big and unmasked themselves.
This song is about Cory Taylor, the lead singer, and his struggles with depression, self destructive habits, and suicidal thoughts. It's also thier 1st main video fro. The new album where they are showcasing thier new masks.
The next song I would recommend you reacting to by them would be Spit It Out (live at download 2009). It shows you their on stage presence, how they work the crowd to hype them up, and why they are so popular.
I would also recommend looking up the lyrics, as it will help you cut through the growls and see how good Cory is at his job.

Not really? Yeah Corey said that their masks allow them to release the beast inside them while they are on stage, but their masks represent what they are going through during that time. Like in Volume 3 Corey's mask was all slanted and stitched together to represent how he was always drunk or in All Hope is Gone that makes represented how he kinda stopped feeling emotions during that period with all of the shit he went through. I know that Corey's mask changes with how he feels, but idk about the other members.
@@viralpanda5590 The masks usually signify something personal about the member but it all depends on who really, for Sid in All Hope is Gone it was a somewhat tribute to transformers because he is a huge fan of the franchise, for Jim the Jester is supposed to reflect his personality. Behemoth - ov fire and the void
Their self titled album debuted back in I think ‘98 or ‘99... I was 15 at the time. Wait and Bleed resonated with me for so long and kept me from doing stupid things to myself. I have been battling depression for a very long time and Slipknot has consistently come through for me. 21 years later, they’re still slaying it and this track has pushed Wait and Bleed to a very close 2nd.
If you’ve been fucked over by people you loved, this song is for you but make no mistake; it is a song about healing.
