Its always interesting to learn the different rules and gameplay with this boardgames. You'd think they would all be the same but nope. Every game has that unique quality that solely belongs to a specific board game, so cool!
Another Illuminati game...I'm surprised you haven't mysteriously 'disappeared' after doing the first one 😅 Bro you dive so deep into these games and are very descriptive! You'll be a massive help to anyone wanting to buy it or try something new. When the whole covid thing settles you should definitely have more gaming videos with a group of people. That's be great to watch you play these games with others. Nice job my man!
You really should have played a few games before you made this video. I just bought this game and the expansion, but I played the original something like 30+ years ago and loved it (along with Nuclear War and many others). I have been growing a gaming group and when plans fall apart, board games like this are great for filling in. The one thing to understand is a turn is just your turn, so you do not need to worry about splitting transferable power between attacking on your turn and defending on another player's turn. Remember your Illuminati has transferable power. You can not use both forms of power from a group, so the Illuminati can not attack with its own Power and then add its own transferable Power to that... one or the other. You get to move money (all or some) on a group or illuminati ONE space up or down the chain. You get to do this 2 time free and then after that it costs an action (you have 2 actions a turn). You can also move ONE group as an action and that means you move any puppet groups too. You of course have to have an open arrow for the group to move to. The puppets do not have to stay connected to the same arrows, but they DO have to stay connected to the same group. Same with their puppets. Deciding if you want to attack, neutralize, or kill (other than for special victory conditions). If you have a group that is the same, like your group is Conservative and you are attacking a Conservative group you get a +4. The attack is your Power minus their Resistance. If you are attacking to kill and they are opposing, like you are attacking a Liberal group instead, you get a +4 to destroy. You can only attack to destroy groups with Power and they use you Power against their Power (instead of Resistance) and many groups have a lower Power. Also you do not need an open arrow on the group that is attacking to control (but not for killing or neutralizing). So attacking to Kill might be MUCH easier. Attacks to neutralize ignore the affiliations and just give you a straight +6. You can never attack the other player's illuminati. They automatically loose if they do not control a group after turn 3. It is FAR easier to get others to help with attacks to kill or destroy because, while it can stop another from winning, you do not gain anything yourself (unless it is part of your illuminati's victory condition). When you attack to control you and succeed you gain not only that group but all its puppets. When you attack to kill and win that group is discarded and any puppets go back into the middle of the table as uncontrolled. If you attack to neutralize and win that group and all its puppets go back to the middle of the table as uncontrolled. Example... You are the Church of Violentology P2 R6 I3 Liberal and you are attacking say the Congressional Wives P1 R4 I1 Conservative. You have 10 transferable P and it is next to their illuminati so it gets a +10 to Resistance. To control you would be at a (2 Power +10 Transferable) - (4 Resistance +10 Structure) -4 for apposing groups. You are at a -6 already and would need to spend a lot of money to have a chance to win this. If you Attacked to Kill though it would be (2 Power +10 Transferable) - (1 Power +10 Structure) +4 or a +5... that is an 11 point swing. To attack to Neutralize ignores the affiliations and gives a straight +6 and would be (2 Power +10 Transferable) - (4 Resistance +10 Structure) +6 or +4 total. Most turns you take your income, draw a card, transfer money from 2 groups/illuminati, move a group or transfer more money, and attack something, Also you can not trade or give groups unless it is the turn of one of the players. This stop a person from giving away a group that is being attacked to stop the attack or transfer it to a stronger ally. Crazy deals are forged in an attempt to stop a player from winning. Money, Special cards, and groups will start changing hands. This is a game about deals, backstabbing, bluffing, threats... and fun.
@@TabletopJason Finally got to play my first game last night in 30 years. Both looked fine. I did not remember "privoleged attacks" until almost the end of the game.
