- President Donald J. Trump disembarks from the Air Force One aircraft, a Boeing 747, and boards the Marine One Sea King VH-3D helicopter at Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey.
In addition to the two two U.S. Marine Corps VH-3D Sea King helicopters, there were four Ospreys MV-22 tilt-rotor from the Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), is a United States Marine Corps helicopter squadron responsible for the transportation of the president.

Impressive one up footage of the MV22 Ospreys and Marine One and of course, Air Force One as well. I have been lucky to catch a few visits of Air Force One to London Stansted Airport and its always a huge event.

Why doesnt every helicopter have LED lights at the blade tips like that? That’s awesome.
The older types (which the Sea King certainly is) do not have the internal wiring and fittings to accommodate rotor-tip lights. These were installed as part of a US DoD initiative to increase safety for ground crew during night operations and assist pilots during formation flying at night.
Surprised that all helicopters haven’t been required since the beginning to have them. Probably because of the internal wiring like you said. But it makes such a difference. Do all modern helicopters have them?
I work alone on the road at night in the jungle... I just tears. Noone love me.

I dont understand why the Marine Corps are still flying the H3 as Marine 1? The Navy decommissioned their fleet of H3s 20+ years ago and procured the H60 as the replacement. The million dollar question is " Why have NAVAIR not procured a new fleet of Presidental Helocopters? "
@Matt Hooper The Marine Corps Presidential Helocopter fleet does consist of some H60s. However they continue to use the H3s as Marine 1. I can probably assume with accuracy that the Program Office at Naval Air Systems Command have a replacement going through the procurement process.
@Matt Hooper Matt I worked for NAVAIR Systems Command before retiring several years ago. When developing a presidential helocopter that will transport the President of the US you cannot simply take a current H60 and modify it for use as Marine 1. Without getting into detail there are special software packages, airframe designs, special mission equipment, height restrictions, flight control systems, hydraulic systems, landing gear systems, armor plating and engine reliability/ performance standards that must be met before the helocopter is even fielded for use. The helicopter and every component must go through an extensive test and evaluation period before even being certified for use. So hopefully that answers your question.
We don't see this very often, Marine 1 and Marine 1 decoy. I guess those Ospreys must be security?
It's not called marine one unless it is carrying the president. In fact ANY Marine Corps aircraft that is transporting the president is called Marine one, same as Airforce One.

@@ricklee5431 Yes, the second Sea King (VH-3D) is a decoy, but also used to transport passengers when there is a larger entourage. The Ospreys (MV-22B) are defensive escorts which surround Marine One during its flight.

Do VH-3D pilots fly into IMC, w/the MAN on board?
I very much doubt it. The entire formation would have to break and which runs contrary to their security protocols. However, they probably do have an established procedure in the very unlikely event that one or more aircraft inadvertently enters IMC. Having said this, in certain circumstances I believe HMX1 'could' transport POTUS in IMC by helicopter, but .. I believe those circumstances would have to be exceptional.
