- Forgive my excitement... but the T20 in War Thunder is FINALLY fixed! Plagued with drivetrain issues for the best part of 2 years, the T20 couldn't even drive over a hill. Now, though... it's BACK!
The T20 is a prototype medium tank for the US Tech Tree and with it being effectively a squashed down Sherman tank with a fast reverse gear, it's VERY fun to play. So fun, it earns the title of my favourite tank in War Thunder.
The T20 used to be 4.7 and over the last 4 years it's saw multiple nerfs bringing it to 6.0 and removing 20mm of armour from its front. It doesn't sound like I'm selling it well, but mobility is everything. And the T20... it has a LOT of that! :)

YESSSSS!!! the T20 was my first premium back 2017, and i grinded almost the entire american tree with him, it was perfect, but i dont know when they fucked up the mobility of him. im so glad they fixed this!

I unlocked the T25 recently expecting a healthy upgrade from the ubiquitous M4s and kind of an early Pershing only to discover I deeply hate it and it's absolute dogshit and I'm gonna fly past 6.3 using my lovely 5.7 lineup (supported by the premium Black Cat)
The T25 is a shitty medium with mobility worse than most heavies in the whole game... WTF ? And yeah, no STABs ??? WHY ???

I remember what a monster this thing was back in the day at 4.7. I frequently had matches with +10 kills and it was just really fast for the amount of armour it had. I kind of stopped playing it and moved onto other vehicles and forgot about it. it's nice to hear that other people had the same experience with the T20 back then.

I love this thing, even if it’s 6.0. I usually pair it with the M18, M36, and used to do it with the M41. For planes I would use the AD-4 and the F4U-4B. I would just create the speed lineup, the only thing slow in those lineups was the AD-4

I have a possible Idea for a tech tree version of the T20, the T20E3. Which has the same 76mm gun, but the HVSS suspension was changed to now have a torsion bar design.
Or the T23, which had an electric transmission supplied by GE and the tracks & VVS suspension from a standard M4 Sherman.
There was also a T23E4 that used HVSS. Either the T23E3 or the T23E4 would be great in the game, and I believe that they have both been suggested and hope they are being considered.
Gaijin would put that at 6.3

Why is it always USA vehicles that magically have armor missing or weaker than publicly known stats
In the case of the T20, Gaijin had mistankenly modeled it with the hull armor of the T23, which was thicker at 76.2 mm on the UFP (it's the same as the T25), instead of the correct 63.5 mm it has now.
So no, it doesn't "magically have armor missing", in fact it was the very opposite, it "magically had increased armor".
They have missing armour even tho gaijin claims this to be a realistic war sim but they did that for balancing as if the was one premium tank that was insanely op noone would play any other nation and it wouldn't be remotely fair for free to play players
@@Sten05 it wasn't even a balancing question for the T20. It had 76.2 mm on the UFP and that was simply wrong, 63.5 mm is correct.
Stats show that gaijin loves Germany and Russia(in that order) over the USA lol.

Hey Bawz. The German M41 did in fact move up as well and is actually 6.7
Good place for it. It's APDS is one of the more reliable ones and having HEAT-FS is a nice bonus

Jesus christ, you were operating like a robot with that thing when you started the "second" game. Just surgically taking every tank out of that four-unit push in less than 50 seconds. Especially without any damage taken.

I dont play this game (learned my lesson in WOT :( !!!!!) but it sounds and looks like youre having a blast. Really appreciate the commentary and words you chose at the right moment. Thanks again for the vids and effort you put into them.
WOT is a different experience than WT, you should probably give WT a try if you haven't played it yet lol.

wot sucks imo especially the aim feature having to wait till that circle closes to get an accurate shot at what ur aiming at in WT you control the aiming to if u peek around cover u dont have to wait u just fire if ur lined up correctly....its what i hate most about WOT is not controling the aim urself and with that being said there is really no learning curve for tanks in WOT in regards to aiming so its all dependent on how fast that dumb circle closes

It plays very differently, but has a competetive aspect to it that I loved for 10 years.
how can you survive an ammo rack hit does more damage then other shots but not much more if you were to just hit the turret...i believe thats why WOT is a failing franchise is because of the aim feature and just damage points if i hit a sherman with a 152mm HE shell that should desimate the tank in one shot...if u actually had control of your aim instead of the game and where u hit mattered more it be a much better game...ill keep saying it the game does the aiming for you@@MrMarci878

Nice seeing a game from you in the recommended! Also nice that it was of this tank, the T20 you recommended and immediately after I bought it they put it to 6.0 and I am not sure if they had nerfed the speed. I barely have played it though. There are quite a few around this BR I still haven't played much, and you remind me why. You make it look so fun and easy, then I download game and get dogpiled for however long I can stand it. I wonder if they improved the economy any? So at least if I come back I wont run myself out of credits as I knock the rust off. Never did get all that good though, my eyes are just not that strong anymore.

Man if I knew about this sooner I would’ve gotten it I basically grinned the American-tech tree up to 8.0 with no premium account or premium mainly vehicles mainly becuz I was so new to the game but just didn’t study but now I might pick this up for a lineup piece

Oddbawz, I'd love to see you run the Russian T-10M. I think its one of the best heavies in the game, despite having to fight Type 16s and other 21st century vehicles at an uptier to 9.3.

12:26 yeah apparently they either made .50cals a lot less damaging to tracks or tracks a lot less susceptible to damage from low calibre weapons, can't remember exactly what though
they nerfed 50 cal and 20mm quite a while ago, 5 cal now does nothing while 20mm can't damage barrels but still 1 burst tracks

The lack of situational awareness from the tigers and panthers in the first game was crazy. Your location should have been constantly pinged on the map until you had been dealt with.

Overall my favorite vehicle. This thing is devastating in the right hands. As someone who preaches the 76mm M1's greatness, I love this thing to death. Along with the Blackcat M18 and the F4U-4B and AD-4, this thing makes a helluva lineup. Hope it goes back down to 5.7 though.

I bought the t20 a week ago thinking I would regret the purchase, but to my surprsie it is a monster I usually drop 6 to 8 kill games with it. With my highest kill game being 15 to me it is a pretty enjoyable vehicle.

Pulls a textbook cap defense, get nuke, keeps fighting enemies back anyway cause he is just that good of a sport, runs out of ammo, uses game saving nuke, refuses to elaborate any further. What a guy, i love you odd

Finally they fixed the T20 I loved this tank and i got it when it was at 4.7 OP as hell! Still love this tank im taking her out again now they fixed it!
With the stab and not the Sherman slow speed stab it beats any other 6.0 vehcile in first shot capability. Couple that with a great reverse and buff to mobility and its BR is likely too low.

Allow me to introduce: THE JUMBO LOCUST!!!!
This is a very good tank, One of my favourites on the US tech tree, But the shells have changed, they no longer have the impact they used to, you can no longer one shot BMPs, single shot side shots on Panthers are a thing of the past, as you said, the frontal armour is now sub-par. It does not seem to be as fast as it used to be.
I dont have the T20 but I dont really have a problem one shotting Panthers from the side with the US 76mm gun.
