  • This DeWalt 12V Xtreme impact wrench weighs just over two pounds and costs less than $150 for the kit, including two batteries and a charger. We test the DeWalt DCF902 to see if it really has 200 ft-lbs of loosening torque. This is definitely one of the lightest impact wrenches that we've ever tested.

    I’m just wondering if the amount of surface area of the threads on the large fasteners you’re using is putting more resistance. I would like to see what the tool does on smaller fasteners at the same torque specs.

    good review, I generally regard these small 3/8 wrenches as "assembly guns", for whizzing small-ish fixings not held down with much torque in and out and for that they work really well. I mean this little thing was never really designed to tackle lugnuts held on with 90ftlbs and 10,000 miles of crap build up. Thats why I also have a DCF899 1/2 gun. . .

    • @androidken
      @androidken 2 роки тому +1

      But when it comes to torque, there's almost no difference between 3/8 versions and 1/2 assuming there's nothing different other than anvil size. Honestly the only time I'd use 1/2" is with larger sockets that aren't made in 3/8”.

    For putting things back together, this is awesome. I can agree its never as strong as the milwaukee. But in my opinion, milwaukee is never as comfortable or as cheap (bang for buck) as dewalt! when used on the right applications (not one tool fits all) seems to be an alright gun. So I have extensive experience with this tool. And I can tell you, that it’s extremely susceptible, to adapters. And sockets that are bigger then the tool itself.
    As much as a 50-60 percent drop in capabilities.
    It doesn’t rob some power on this tool it robs a TON of power.
    It’s not just the adapter it’s also the diameter of the socket. Try it with a 21 mm 3/8 socket. And it will reach 200 ft lbs.
    On 19 mm lug nuts 200 ft/lbs no problem on a 24 mm and adapter, goes down to 130. And on 33 mm goes down to 75-80 lb ft.
    I believe it’s a physics issue, If the socket is bigger than the diameter of the tool, itself, Max torque will be affected.
    Could 2767 break away a 4 inch nut tightened to 1000 ft lb? Probably not.

    Any way we could see a redo torque test with a more realistic bolt size & without an adapter? Also, although I've broken loose 150 ft lbs. with the 2ah battery, there are rumors that the 3ah does even better.

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  3 роки тому +4

      The problem is, going to a smaller bolt means the less you can torque them. Here's a few common sizes below with the torque values, and this is using Grade 8 hardened fasteners.
      1/2" thread size: 90 ft-lbs
      9/16" thread size: 130 ft-lbs
      5/8" thread size: 180 ft-lbs
      3/4" thread size: 315 ft-lbs
      We can definitely test with a larger battery; however, this is the battery that it's kitted with. We like to at least do the initial testing and review with the battery that you would typically get with the tool, if you purchased it. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for the review! It would be a good idea to have a smaller size test rig. Especially when you make many videos, since there is a growing market for smaller and more compact tools. Then, for the smaller stuff there would be less variables involved dealing with oversized nuts, sockets, and adapters. There would be a more direct apples to apples comparison for the smaller compact tools. There’s no question tools like this are not designed for that rig. I do believe the socket size and adapter used really crippled that little thing. It’s merely the 12V impact driver with a ⅜ anvil

      Much different tools. Love the Makita XWT14, which we reviewed, but this DeWalt is a very handy little impact wrench. Thanks for watching.

    Fail.
    It might help to have a fact sheet for you to read off, to minimize confusion.
    Also, try doing your trial BEFORE you film it, so you know what you're dealing with.
    Just saying.

      Yeah, I was surprised. I thought there would be more torque.
      Maybe Dewalt's new 5ah battery would do better.
      Also, it would be interesting to see how much different your socket welded to the adapter might be.
      Otherwise, good honest video.

    Dewalt good for just putting whatever numbers on a box to make you buy it and that's what you get that thing is worthless in my shop

    Horrible review on ur part. U can't run a huge socket on a 3/8 drive. I have it and it takes my lug nuts off my truck. I am waiting for the release of the 12v 1/2 drive extreme

    An impact that struggles at 100lbs is useless

      I wouldn't say useless, but I do understand what you're getting at. This can still work fine for light work, if you have any light work. Thanks for watching.

      I heard you struggle at 100 pounds?! 😁. This impact has its place, and I don’t think it can compete with some of the others. I use it on light stuff on the vehicles, and so far brake calipers, and other such fasteners are no problem. It has a very good trigger, and along with the speed control, is versatile. Just messing with you, peace! 👍✌🏻😁
