    A little bit of a messy one this time, since this was one of the experimental type-commissions!! I have no idea if it turned out too chaotic as an image, but I'm hoping that the composition somewhat pulls all the noise togteher :x
    I don't think I actually have that many action/dynamic scenes under my belt? So taking that into consideration, I'm satisfied with the result
    Music:
    Doctor Vox - Death / doctorvoxmusic
    Zenkai - Transistor / zenkaimusic
    And the third track.... is actually made by me 👀
    I've been dabbling in Garageband with loops and such, but this one is only the second ever track I've made until now, so I still have no idea what I'm doing.
    When I got enough tracks together, I'll post a video with all of them!
    (and if anyone got any music-making advice for a total noob, feel free to comment down below!)
    Time: 4 hours
    Programs used: Photoshop elements.10, quick time player, final cut pro

    The chaos is what makes the piece even better! All the elements combine in such a way which makes the whole thing come to life. Nice work as always!

      I'll come around to it eventually! But in the mean time I can try explaining it a bit via text!
      So, I tend to switch around a bit depending on the type of image I'm aiming for (if I know I'm going to have complex characters in a complex setting,, boy you can be sure I'll do some proper planning and not just dabble away,, I don't have the patience to re-do large amounts of work, so if I'm going to paint in details I need to know that the layout/colors/shapes are as close as possible to the final version of themselves)
      But the main difference is wether I go for a more painterly-style, or a lineart-focused style. With clean lineart it usually goes like: 2-3 sketch stages (going into more and more detail), lineart, base/flat colors, rough/finished background, shading. (shading comes after background, because knowing the setting will make it easier to visualize what the shadows will need to look like).
      For a more painterly image, one thing is for sure: some kind of prep needs to come before painting in details. And I'm still very much switching between what I think works best. If I know that the result doesn't have to be that clean/exact,, or if I know 100% what I'm going for and feel confident enough,, I'll just draw in blocks of color ontop of a rough sketch, and go from rough blobs -> to detailed.
      But with a piece like this for example, I needed to do 1 rough sketch, a rough layout of light/shadow values, 1 slightly more detailed sketch, 1 clean sketch/lineart, flat colors,, and only *then* do I start cleaning up via painting ontop.
      I'm always looking for what feels most comfortable / and efficient,, so while the lineart process is pretty finalized already, the painting process definitely is still quite the playground.
      All I can say is,, really look at your habits, your process, your needs when it comes to drawing the best you can. And figure out how you can optimize your process to bring out more of the good stuff.

    I love it! Though something caught my attention. I now the lovely red gal has both her horns, but is she missing an ear feather in the picture? I only counted 1

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  6 років тому

      Hmm looking back on it, the other ear feather could've been visible yes, but I'd say it's an excusable "oopsie" since ears don't have to be perfectly symmetrical like most horns need to be thus it could be angled differently altogether.

    I really like the song you made!! Does it have a name?

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  6 років тому

      My current naming method is to simply mix together the names of the sound-bits and loops I used for that particular track :'I so this one is called "Dark Path".
      When I post a video with the songs I've made up till now, I'll include a link to where people can download them

    How much do your commissions cost? Just curious

    • @Remarin
      @Remarin  6 років тому +2

      I try to keep my range quite varied so anyone could get something; a sketch headshot 5$, a fully detailed fullbody with realistic background 100$. And there's like a bunch of inbetween options.
      I don't yet have to worry about paying my bills (though I still do it to save up money for adult-life) so I can still pick my prices depending on what the commissioner gets - instead of necessarily what time/effort I invest + what I need, if that makes sense? Like a transparent background is a bit cheaper than a "simple" background (=just some fancy gradients, which basically just takes 2 minutes to do) If I was working to pay rent, I'd make them both the same price since adding some gradients and color effects isn't really any extra work from my point of view.
      ((whoops went on a bit of a rant there, but you did say you were curious :'0 ))

    • @bellahilyard9914
      @bellahilyard9914 6 років тому

      That kind of makes sense? like, you can keep the cost range "loose" because adult life isnt a thing yet; right? Ty for replying though. Youre really good at art
