- One of the many products on the market labeled to kill crabgrass. Quinclorac 75 DF is a potent crabgrass killer and I will show you how to mix and apply it. Its also important to make sure your target is crabgrass and not dallisgrass. I will go over crabgrass identification vs dallisgrass identification. Although this video is focused mostly on crabgrass, Quinclorac 75 DF is also labeled to kill other listed weeds. Please be sure to read the product label and make sure its safe for your turf type.

It worked perfectly after I added the methylated seed oil.
Just a quick FYI, the weed at 1:45 is Goosegrass not crabgrass. Also at 1:45 is a mature Virginia buttonweed. The seed-heads you showed in the comparison at 2:05 are crabgrass and dallisgrass seed-heads. Quinclorac is very effective at killing young crabgrass and very mature crabgrass. That is one of the reasons why the results were great. Although pre-emergent is the best way to address crabgrass, a good post-emergent early in its life cycle is quinclorac + MSO.
Appreciate you sharing, the weeds all look very similar.
Great info and results Rob.
Your grass looks great! Like a green carpet!
Perfect timing. Just what I need for the church lawn.
Spot on rob 👏.. thanks for the info 👍
Another great video Rob ! I have some nuts edge and crabgrass. Will the quinclorac kill the nuts edge aswell or can I mix nutsedge killer and quincloraric together ? Any advice would be appreciated.
Quinclorac doesn't target nutsedge unfortunately. You can tank mix sulfentrazone 4SC Select with Quinclorac 75 DF. You can purchase sulfentrazone from domyown.com. Each herbicide has its own mix rate, I would recommend spot spraying.
I used a surfactant with my quinclorac and sprayed 2 weeks apart and it didn't kill my Crabgrass. 2 local clemson extension guys both said to use the methylated seed oil and not regular surfactant. got some ordered to try. they said the surfactant makes it stick but doesn't effectively penetrate the wax layer on Crabgrass to make it absorb correctly to kill it
Great tip, let me know how it goes
I sure will and great video btw
How long did you have to wait when overseeding? If I recall on the label it mentioned over 30 days or so.
There's a chart on the label that tells you when you can apply Quinclorac and its different for the type of grass you are looking to overseed. Depending on the type of grass you are overseeding, you can apply Quinclorac 7, 14, or 28 days after emergence.
Have a question on clover. I used this product (3/4 of a table spoon with 32 oz water) and a hand/bottle sprayer. Now the question - how many days to pass for seeing results?
It all depends on the temperature outside and whether you used a surfactant. You should start to see leaf change color and wilt. It took about a week for me to see good results.
Thx. Using with baby shampoo (5 or so drops). Temps last week in 80’s this week 70’s.
The instructions also say on page 8 to give a light watering about 2 to 7 days after. This will push the chemical into the rootzone.
Missed the part about watering 2 to 7 days later. Thx!
How much product did you use in that funnel for 1 gallon ?
I used 1 tablespoon per gallon if i remember right. The mix rate is on the label.
