Great video as usual. No matter how many times I look at the RG 500 I never get bored. It is, in my mind The Greatest Motorcycle of All Time. ILove It.

My friend has two Mk1's and i was watching him refresh the engine not long ago, the conrods in the mk1 are the exact same as in the Suzuki AP100 commuter bike.🤣

A friend of mine here in NZ has 2 Mk1 RG500s, one is Pat Hennens old Colemans Suzuki Mk1, the very same one he campaigned the 76 season on.

Very interesting video! Why in 1977, there were 3 different versions?🧐👍🏻

Thank for your comment. In 1977 the fairing was the biggest change on the bike,
The first version had had a more inclined front fairing and a light deflector in the lower part of its sides.
The tail was similar to that of the XR23 RG 700, with exhausts still visible.
Various versions of the fairing came out that year and one of them was criticised by Hennen at
Imola in the des Nations GP when he crashed into the Tamburello bend after losing control of the front wheel.
He reported that the bike became unrideable as if the wheel had risen.
Several other tests were subsequently carried out, including by Sheene, involving the insertion of a
range of different new parts. A new tail was brought in to protect riders more from the exhausts along
with a new fairing without the deflector and with a less inclined and more rounded front fairing.
