What a classy human being. He had the perfect opportunity to call out some A-Lister and lampoon them, but instead chose the highroad and told a charming story about his mother. The world never really deserved him.
Watching as much of the show as I have, I believe that one of the coolest parts about it is that he didn't have to. You could reeeeeeeeeally tell (for the most part) who were stupid (and good/ bad people), who were great, smart, funny, etc. I was truly surprised at how some were so close to being average, everyday people.

Love this man! :D He's very introspective, especially in the part about feeling it'd be unfair to the people talking part in the interview if he talked crap about them. He seems really emotionally intelligent, y'know?
I say Craig saved himself, He isn't the guy who can sit in his show and talk politics. And people get offended by second these days..he wouldn't last a day...bless him he was the best
Thing is though, Craig COULD talk politics if he wanted to. He's a very clever, well-read and informed guy. He's also fucking hilarious! I wonder if it's because people like Billy Connolly, Frankie Boyle and Craig Ferguson come from Scotland- and Glasgow specifically. Scotland (and Ireland) are rain-drenched and can be desolate places. People who live there then tend to need entertainment and a funny perspective. I think that's why there's so many comedians in Scotland and Ireland. Craig is only entertaining people incidentally. Primarily, he's entertaining himself. By the way, all three Glasgow comedians happen to be part Irish.
@@velvetunderpants44 Craig's seems to be a very centrist guy. An old school liberal. I don't think he'd be happy constantly bagging on Trump every single night for 5 years straight like every other show in existence. He's far too creative for that.

One of the strangest interviews to watch was when Kate Mara showed up admittedly "messed up" on something. He did a great job of turning it into comedy, but it was still weird as heck.
I'd have an instant answer to the most awkward guest and that would be his last interview with Tony Shalhoub (Monk). Honestly, I felt embarrassed for Craig. Tony was acting very strange and took everything Craig threw at him at face value and I remember when Craig was talking about having an awkward pause with his last guest, he said "well I think we've already had one before the break". Never saw Shalhoub back....
This guy is brilliant, smart, funny, and humane. I now feel compelled to read one of his books. Did he have something to do with Doc Martin, which was great for its first few seasons?
Yes he did but indirectly. The character of Doc Martin originated in the film Saving Grace, for which Craig was co-writer and starred in. Because of that, he received writer credit in the Doc Martin series. Saving Grace is probably his best known film, and was well received.

Many, if not most, people don't want to be challenged, but would feel lonely if not engaged. This show fits that mold, and tries very hard not to offend a sedentary audience. Funny thing that Rachel herself is an interesting, vibrant person, but her show is not.
Craig is always best when he's allowed to riff. I didnt like him as a game show host, too limiting. He's great here. He needs another talk show, for the sanity of the world
