Every dang episode is good. THP shows most all aspects of hunting besides sitting a shooting house with a feeder, manicured, green fields and bucks with names and history. Best hunting show on YT
My mind this entire video: “my god just give Jake the gun”
Hare hunters who don't know hay their shooting at.
That was hard to watch
What the heck
Dudes outta tags already cause he's a stone cold killer....these dudes...NOT SO MUCH
Never saw so many gun follies in my life!
Nick has been a great addition to the crew might be a keeper guys that upbeat marine spirit can't break it hard to find people that can last like that out there and stays upbeat
Yea I like the enthusiasm of him n joking around non stop
Agreed I like his attitude
Agree. But has anyone heard Nick say he wants to stay?
Just left church and got home to a hunting public video...God is amazing
My gpa just got diagnosed with cancer and we use to do this all the time together. Havent been able to do it and he sold the property for funds, really wish i had a group like this to have hunting camp and just enjoy rifle season. Awesome video
Segments with Jake and Jim are so wholesome. 🥰
Great video. Some of them fellas need some range time!🤪
Well.... If ya can't shoot umm standing still.... Your really not gonna shoot umm running...
You are wrong there my friend cause I have a uncle that can't shoot anything standing still but everytime they take off he drops em in their tracks
😂😂 that poor dude just had the luck didn’t he. That’s how she goes sometimes 😅
@@buckshotdave707I’m the same way! Honestly don’t know why. Nerves I guess, my second shot is always on haha. First one sitting still is 50/50
I think I would of done pretty good trying that with my 1959 Bear Kodiak recurve vs that pile of crap what ever bolt action rifle he was using. That thing would of had me making some phone calls to customer service right then and their.
@@normankaster917 haha yeah seriously. That’s a bad look for Ruger. The one kids rifle wouldn’t chamber the follow up. To add insult to Injury, the other guys ammo wouldn’t go off. Heart breaker
To boot they keep saying is he big enough?! Learn to shoot before you dream about the mounts, sheesh!
Having the barrel resting on the rest is a NO NO ! At that distance it shouldn’t matter but at a distance will throw you WAY OFF target. Always rest the forearm in the rest !
I immediately thought the same thing.
That and them knowing how to use and operate their equipment makes a huge difference .You can tell that they have little experience with those guns if any .Just saying it is obvious as hell along with the rest issue .
Yep, proper barrels are made to "free float" unless they are modified "bedded" for competitive shooting.
Exactly....made me cringe
That is definitely a no no.
Don’t be that guy filling your buddies buck tag on a dink
Thanks for sharing all your adventures.
Btw, a guy taught me to never rest the barrel on the shooting stix/rest, only put the forestock on the rest. Guess it can affect shot?
And on a drive, when the deer is running, WHISTLE LOUD to stopem...it'll blow you away, they hit their brakes!
They free float the barrel for that reason. The barrel actually whips when shot. Could effect it a little.
Should not test the barrel on objects. Probably doesn't matter at that range but can change point of impact
You should not shoot deer
@@betterthanyesterday3912 apparently he can't
It affects the barrel harmonics and can drastically change your point of impact. Barrels from the factory that aren’t free floated will make contact with the stock at an accuracy node.
Total wreckless chaos in this one
Because they missed deer?
One of the best hunting shows to watch before bed
No way..I get to fired up and start getting my gear together for tomorrow's hunt..lol
Nick’s one liners are such gold.
Enjoyed this episode guy’s and having chili at Ted Millers house was icing on the cake. Congrats to everyone on harvesting some nice bucks! Nick is definitely a plus to THP, gotta keep him on as a regular crew member!
I know heat of the moment things can happen but I’ve seen a few times now on THP resting on the gun barrels. Resting on the forend is a much better practice. There’s a reason why decent guns have floating barrels.
Yep the harmonics of the barrel ..It matters on far shots for sure..
That first shot was a total buck fever deal, dude trying to short stroke that bolt and resulted in a total fail.
Sargent Dan with the m16 had more of your buddies in front of his muzzle than he did deer! Wow. Other than that it was a great video.
I was gonna say the same thing, I saw a couple times he swung his barrel past the guys or they were walking behind him, hes gotta know where his barrel is facing and be safer
I always tell people pretend there is a laser coming out of the barrel. Otherwise I'm going to carry it for you and decide if and when you get it back when we are hunting together.
The muzzle awareness in this makes me sweat
The dude who couldn't work a bolt action 🥴
Bunch of rookies smh
Dude I was thinking the same thing! Gun barrels pointing at not only other people but back at themselves too. I could hear my Dad yelling at me “ Where’s the end of that gun barrel boy??!! You know you’re supposed to where it is at all times!!” as he smacked me upside the head. Ahhh memories …😂😂
Please make Nick part of THP forever! Don’t let him leave!
I think we're going to keep him around for awhile
That old 16-pointer is cool. And you can tell that he has been rubbing A LOT! He has that rack polished.
Jake and his fam are good people..👍💯💯💯
Great video! You guys are blessed to live in a place with such an abundance of deer!
@giveaway217scam
I love doin deer drives! Gets the blood flowin! Congrats guys!
That mis fire can happen if the bolt isn't all the way down. I did the same thing on a bobcat with Hornady ammo. Even left a strike on bullet. I blamed ammo for awhile before I realized it was doing that.
Fun stuff boys! I've never been part of a deer drive and it looks both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. Can't wait to see what's next.
Surprised the other guys were OK with Zimmy using their buck tags, aren't Iowa buck tags difficult to get?
I love when the videos almost an hour long!
Practice running shots. Weedeater, 2 pullies, 2 Tposts, attach weedeater to one Tpot, attach one pullie to weedeater, 20yds drive other Tpost, attach pullie on Tpost. Use rope to go around pullies, tape balloon or balloons on rope. Start weedeater set your speed and learn your leads from different distances and speed. It's a blast and a great learning tool.
Nick definitely has to become a full member of the THP his attitude and positivity is so infectious and awesome to watch!!!
The way the core THP guys get so excited when someone else gets a deer makes me smile.
Scam
That’s how party hunting is… there’s some days I walk 10 miles up and down huge hills and crawling through thickets and briar but it’s all
Worth it when you see the smile of someone you helped get a deer
Possibly the biggest shitshow I’ve ever seen. Need a range day or 20 before next season.
So the first miss I believe was due to having the barrel rested on the y stick the barrels are free floated for a reason when you put pressure on them it throws off the zero of the gun. Just my 2 cents love all you guys videos
classic Iowa gun season… the Orange Blaze Army 💯
These guys need a gun sponsor and and ammo sponsor. Lets get these guys some reliable gear!
Helpful hint: don't rest your barrel on anything!!! That's what the stock is 4. Keep up the great content. Lets see some indiana hunting public? We appreciate all the effort u guys put on these videos.
I don't understand why you would want a bunch of people to come from out of state torun your deer herd to death
They are hunting their own state and they actually are doing pretty low impact deer drives.
"The USS Shenanigans has arrived!" Man I love Nick!
When you're shooting from any rest... Do not place your barrel on the rest. Place the stock in there and don't touch the barrel. It really effects the barrel harmonics and accuracy. I was a law enforcement sniper for 20 years and have seen this tested many times.
I could talk about load development and barrel harmonics for hours, but not here. That would be a great topic for an entirely different episode. Glad someone else understands.
I like how they agree what deer to shoot and then you see the bullet hit high on the wrong one at 18:16 lol
Imagine if he had wounded both? He must have dropped his site picture through the scope in order to work the bolt. Immediately gets brown in the site picture and pulls the trigger...
Best deer hunting video of the year--any channel--well done!!!!
The dude in the Sitka jacket needs a new hobby
He was struggling
Or make him a permanent driver until he earns his "shooter" spot back...LOL
Good stuff, one thing tho, don’t rest the barrel of the rifle on anything. It changes the point of impact .
Got to love them ruger America’s!!! Lmao
That was likely a light primer strike due to the bolt handle not being all the way down. It happens to my Ruger American, and I always constantly check that the bolt handle is down.
Agree 100 percent. Learned it the hard way last year on a buck just like he did. Took me a minute to figure why it misfired but I finally figured it out. Just like you said I’m constantly checking that bolt handle
Yes this^^^ happened to me this year.
That’s why I sold my Ruger American. The bolt comes open even on safety.
Yup happened to me too.
Steve Rinella would use a bungee cord to keep his bolt handle down. But all things considered, my Ruger American Predator is a flat out shooter. There’s not better rifle for that kind of money. The accuracy is unbelievable.
Just a tip bolt actions are never a good idea on drives go with a semiautomatic or a pump. I have a Remington 7600 pump in 30-06 and absolutely love it
The stock should be resting on the shooting sticks, not the barrel. Resting it on the barrel or placing your finger on top of the barrel effects the harmonics of the barrel and will throw off you bullets at a distance.
Finally someone I can relate to about barrel harmonics, most people look at you like you have a spider on your forehead when you mention that topic, much less have any idea what that is. Mainly because it's a topic that only hand loaders like us understand it. Way too complicated to get into on this video. 👍
Always put hand or glove between gun and anything hard. It is painful to watch in all the hunting videos, so many deer missed or wounded.
Enjoy the great outdoors- Be kind- Be positive-
There is a space between stimulus and response. What you do in that space is what defines you-
Reminds me why I prefer bowhunting.
Dude placing his barrel on the rest lol rookie moves
Phil was struggling. Great video.
Bald Eagles, boats, bucks, and meat on ice! God Blessed America!
Best hunting show on UA-cam 💪🦌🇺🇲👍💥
Cant wait!!! Thanks for all the content you guys bang out. Love it
Ted Miller is a classic - “ That’s all” ? After the top guy drops 3 bucks on the 1 trip ! Well done fellas as always the footage does not disappoint. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas! God bless !
I use to know a Ted miller from around Monmouth Iowa is it the same one. I think he hunted mostly with a bow.
When you use a shooting stick or any sort of "rest" toward the front of the rifle, always support it by the gun's stock, NOT the barrel. Accuracy WILL be negatively affected by resting the rifle by the barrel... especially at longer ranges.
These guys have no clue. Your sage advice is falling on deaf ears.
I've actually found when using a monopod I'm more stable with the rest closer to the receiver. Lots of side-to-side instability when it's out near the end of the stock. Spot on about the barrel. Harmonics and all that jazz.
Love that gnarly old buck I love deer with character like that would look great as a euro mount so you can pass him around when when you want to look at him
All you guys need is a couple cases of old Milwaukee best😂😂😂and some shooting lessons or semi autos 😂😂😂
Love these openings you do on these big group videos
A trip to the northeast would be great!
I’d love to See them try their hand at some big woods buck hunting in Maine
NEW JERSEY...tons of public land for small state!
Same. I'm in the northeast tip of NY.... this ain't gonna happen here I'll tell you that.
Gonna have to start calling Phil ricochet cause he’s hitting everything but deer😂.
If that was here in Michigan there would have been 7 guys out there unloading on that buck
I'm a bow hunter only and this style of huing seems like a lot of work.
Holy hell! I FEAR being the guy in my group that misses a 20 yd shot!! You guys are nice guys, my guys are ruthless, dark humor Veterans of all branches! You will NEVER live it down! You will the story told many times, every season! LOL
What Nick said about not holding that chili above your head....that guy is a nation treasure... LMAO 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks! Real guys, making real video!
Mr & Mrs. Miller are Legends😁!
Never rest your barrel on something when shooting, your flexing the barrel. Always rest off the handguard! I hope this helps someone!
I recently moved to Iowa and it's sad to say but true. Unfortunately my opinion of y'all is changing.
I love how you can always hear jake laughing in the background at his buddies camera shyness 😂 … I get a kick out of it…good stuff fellas ..
Dude sick buck at 4:50 !!! That’s awesome I love them odd bucks
Gotta get some small game and waterfowl in the mix to help with those running shots. Trying to stop a deer hauling bass, haha
Bro the guy who shot the first deer has probably the best lines out of anyone fuckin funny asf
Dont rest the barrel of your rifle on your shooting stick or anything for that matter. Will change your point of impact.
That last drive though 😬 whew sone fortunate deer
Pretty good display of shooting boys 😂
I know, right?? That Phil guy was struggling
Looks like more meat for snack attacks! Great Job! Keep hunting!
I appreciate the music so much more after listening to the podcast boys. Great video
Phil's first experience with a weapon.
Did u guys even go check for a hit on the 3rd drive? It looked like the little buck went down
I thought the same thing. Looked like he was wobblin behind that tree before he went down
@@GSOutdoorsTV I'm allmostt certain that deerr fell. Thhhis whold vid lleaves a bbit too be dddesiired(no ideaaaaa why lettters are doubliiing uppp))))
That was a cool hunting trip nice bucks not gonna lie those ruger malfunctions make me want to go wrap the barrel of mine around a tree cost you guys some deer
I won’t buy one of those pieces of crap. Absolute junk.
@@thereaper4396 Been hunting with a ruger American ranch .450 since the fall of '17, never had and issue with it. Killed the biggest bucks of my life with it, and I can't count how many does and coyotes.
Maybe I got a good one.
@@fruitfarmfords8243 clearly you got lucky. They are absolute dog 💩.
Fun video fellas - love the camaraderie
Some of yall need alittle range time
Phil....?
Yes.....?
YOU'RE FIRED!
I bought box of federal . Shot 6 shots 45 mins after buying and 2 misfired . Still have them in a bowl . Zero issues with Hornadays
1 of the worst things that can happen is cramps in both legs at the same time ,,I drank picke juice that helps way to go guys great hunt
Cramps usually mean your body is dehydrated, carry a couple bottles of water and gatorade with you and refrain from alcohol use the night before a long walking deer drive.
I get the party hunting thing in other states but aren’t you into a non-res Iowa tag for like $700 after all the points and such? A lot of money for a couple 2 year olds.
Always good quality videos.
Great bunch of guys looks fun
Great video! Shame only one of your guests could hit anything. Public land drives are never dull.
Nice Deer! Halfway to the tirdy point Buck! 😂
I know I'm a little late to the party... and I know ya'll are tried and true deer slayers... but (I've found that) scopes only get in the way (most of the time) on deer drives. You need open sights or at best a red dot type setup to quickly acquire moving targets.
That was some TERRIBLE shooting guys 😂😂, do you not shoot before you go ? Or just grab your gun and walk out the door
Shooting at a running deer with only seconds notice isn't easy to do.
Never depend on store bought ammo to function ever time. Not a fan of deer drives but to each his own. Great video guys. Nick is a great fit for the hunting public. Can't wait for another Ted Miller video to drop.
its rifle season, the deer are gonna get pushed anyway so might as well push them in your favor
@@trevorknode9446 it’s the marginal shots and wounded deer that come from it.
@@trevorknode9446 yeah deer will get pushed, but not near as much as they do on drives. I'm 100% against drives and I believe it's an unethical way of hunting. But that's only MY opinion
@@schetz15super unethical and the shittiest way to hunt. It takes 0 skill to ruin the public land you’re driving
@@itz_dinkzlol ruin the land?? We’ve hunted the same property for 20 years and our deer herd has never had any problems besides when the population got too high and they started getting diseases.
Love the videos thanks for sharing great content. Not trying to knock anything or act like I know everything because I don’t, just going off of experience. Don’t lay gun barrels directly on rests or anything, doing so can change the harmonics of the barrel and cause accuracy problems. Also the gun involved with the light primer strike looks like a savage (I could be wrong) but I have had the same issue with a 22-250 and 30-06 but due to the bolt not being completely down. I love my savages to death but I have noticed the bolts are easy to bump up and cause this issue. Like I said I love what you guys are doing just trying to help other hunters improve their craft.
Its a ruger american ranch I have the exact one he has also in 350 legend, that's exactly what happened to me also, bc it's a straightwall round, the bolt wasn't all the way closed.
You guys need open sights for guys standing in the brusher areas
I have one of my rifles set up with an over/under scope mount that I use when we decide to do drives.
FYI you don't need furbearers license to shoot coyotes in iowa
How are you gonna miss like that 2 times in a row😂
A lot of nice bucks! Definitely my luck if I were out there! You’ll Get’em next time fellas!
Phil would not make my opening day roster 😂
