No but for REAL: I've seen right-wingers try to argue that the communist thought in Disco Elysium is a clear example of passive-aggressive writer infighting, that no communist would ever make the "0.0001% built" joke in earnest, or describe it as a failure. Truly jaw-dropping to see into the minds of others sometimes. I love the setup btw, looks like I'm about to get told to capture a GDI Command Centre and hold the tiberium fields for 10 minutes.
@@DeoMachina people complain that self deprecation is annoying and a sign of insecurity but I've seen the people who were too scared to make fun of themselves and they're much much worse
It's so weird they notice the clear anti-capitalist and anti-colonial messaging in certain games... and dislike it, are mad someone called out the crap we all have to deal with. 😅
I do enjoy that their list contains near identical text between "Not Recommended" and "Informational" ones, just swapping "Overtly" to "Subtly" for the games they otherwise clearly like.
I mean this isn't the first time I've seen people say Disco Elysium's position on communism is unclear. I think you're right that these people's brains just see 'communism' and dribble out their ears.
The thing I found problematic about Disco Elysium is it's notion that centralism or pacifism aren't real political positions and that you have to be either left or right. Which is of course nonsense.
@trashaimgamer7822 sure it is. Both left and right wing politics start from first principles and work outwards from there to establish a somewhat complete and coherent system. Centrism looks at what other people think and finds a median position. Centrism is literally defined by the beliefs of others. Hence incoherent and baseless.
I often say that everything is woke nowadays. And I still get surprised with what's considered woke. The Daily Mail recently declared chicken sandwiches woke.
A big reason they'll not cirticise some games or not be as harsh, is popularity. These people are cowards and will avoid a game that has all the elements they hate but is popular. 😊
I've been meaning to see someone talk about this one for a bit. I've been wondering if any Dragon Ball Z games are on it. Since interracial marriage is seen as a positive in those games. In fact, it saves the world, as Gohan is the mixed-race child of an alien immigrant who beats Cell in the end.
Tbh they will say that all the problems was caused by that illegal immigrant Goku which caused the planet to be destroyed and come close to destruction multiple times and even though one tried to integrate he caused a mass murder at the world tournament . so yeah it's woke. Lmao 😂
@InterstellarKev Goku himself would agree that he's the problem. Dragon Ball's villains would have been villains without Goku existing, but Vejita, Freezer, Cell, and Buu all came to Earth and their greatest forms, partly or fully because of Goku.
If I get nothing else out of this video, Hardspace: Shipbreaker is now on my Steam wish list because that looks awesome. Thanks, dimly lit Klingon guy! Glory to you and your House, Qapla’!
that game is the most chill stressful game ever. one second you're casually dismantling a ship and next second everything is blowing up and falling apart because you skipped a step and didn't play it safe
I remember seeing other videos of people talking about this list a month or two ago and Sonic Adventure DX actually used to be listed as recommended instead of informational; surprised it got changed
Detroit: Become Human has a pretty bad understanding of civil rights movements in how they come about and how they play out, but it’s still a game attempting to be about an explicit civil rights movement…. They even try to hammer it home by making one of the player perspective androids black and ‘sit at the back of the bus. It’s not a bad game, and it does do it’s job in creating a narrative that is sympathetic toward the oppressed, just that it suffers from civil rights movements from a white man who glanced over the history’s perspective syndrome. Yet it’s somehow not considered woke…….it got informational because of lgbtq themes depending on player choice…..
I'm genuinely tempted to make serious version of this list, one with actual analysis Like, which games are genuinely left-wing or made by actual lefties? I can think of several, and several more 'maybes' Similarly, can think of some games that are definitely right-wing and some definitely made by conservatives Would we spot any trends in genre or themes is what I want to know
I don't like woke stuff being pushed into games but we need to be carefull not overcorrecting. I don't care if you make a game with an MC that's black or a woman as long as it's done well and their personality isn't just "I'm Black/Gay/Women". This whole list is a joke and jumping at shadows. As example destroy all humans is very accurate to the og games which were made when non of this stuff was an issue. It is also a fairly comedic game and everybody including the aliens aren't particularly smart. The whole point of the game is being a literall gray alien in a flying saucer probing, mind controlling and abducting people. So laybelling these games as propaganda is just hilarious.
why though? The majority of people who hold this opinion seem happy to play games whose central character has 'gruff soldier' or 'hairy dad' as their entire character. Why, precisely is it a problem for black/gay/woman to have badly written characters to spend some time with? If bad and shallow writing is your issue, that's fine, but why is it more prominent to you when it is a black/gay/woman who are being written in a shallow way?
@@paultapping9510 have I said it bothers me more? No I'll also complain if a man or a white person is badly written but there has been a big push in recent years to have inclusion no matter the cost and the stories suffered for it.
@@paultapping9510I think he was referring to how tokenized the representation is in media these days. The people producing it don't want to make a story about a black, gay, or female character. It is more noticeable because there is a clear push to include these things, the messaging from these companies is quite clear.
