Illumicrate won for me too! But I’m probably biased as ocean books and vibes are my thing!! I also thought the Fairyloot cover was a bit boring, especially compared to last month! I am interested to see what the adult book will look like this month when that arrives!
The Sting replica dagger is not true to the movie sword, but it is instantly recognizable. I appreciate the designers' take on it. I thought the Tempest Of Tea book is very pretty. You don't get that many red books. I was fairly happy with the Illumicrate box, except for the plant pot. I don't keep small plants, so...but the book is beautiful.
Omggggg the endpapers for A tempest of tea are absolutely gorgeous and they actually represent what is going on in the book at the beginning and then at the end, ahhh that is so amazing. Sadly, I just finished this book and it is a bit...lukewarm. For me. It does feel slightly like six of crows but...ehhh, nope. I am sure there are many people loving it but nah. Six of crows is the one and only!
I am running out of Fairyloot skips and really wanted to skip this month - have already read A Tempest of Tea and, like you, enjoyed Six of Crows...sadly, this book just didn't cut it for me...But that cover for Fathomfolk. Wow...gorgeous!
@@DanieleaReads I agree. I was gifted the ARC and put it off for months, because I was a bit anxious about the comparison. The characters and the plot just fell flat and felt as though it was trying too hard to be something else. It had a lot of potential, but failed in the execution. Sadly I will have a copy to sell because no matter if it's pretty or not I don't believe in keeping multiple copies of a book I didn't like.
@@beingbookishpod Absolutely. I think I’m going to sell my box minus the replica. It’s not a book that’s high on my list of things I want to read so I’ll just pick up the ebook or get it from the library if I change my mind. I think I’d rather reread six of crows 🙂
i feel like i am one of the few that hates the original design and loves this one. I ordered the limited edition from owlcrate but it won't ship until april. I never get the comparing books to others really, if I know the book i'll look it up read the synopsis and if it appeals to me i will then order it and i have yet to get a book I haven't liked. Yes I have liked some more than others, but never disliked out of frustration or because it is not what i expected. I'm still waiting to join any subscription boxes because of the wait lists but I have been lucky enough to snag the ones I have enjoyed online somewhere else. I hope you enjoy both of them they both look great.
I’m glad you like it. It comes down to personal preference. This one just wasn’t my cup of tea 😉🤭 I do feel like comparisons can do more harm than good. It can set you up for disappointment. Part of me is thinking would I rather spend my time reading this book that’s been compared to six of crows or just reread six of crows 🤔
When illumicrate do a theme month like this it is always AMAZING. They really do fabulous items. And the book is gorgeous. I only got it for the book pot and im not disappointed. I love another pot plant!! Might use it for highlighters lol. And the art on the book makes me want to read it. Fairyloot I actually like the book, I really like the new cover and edges. But the items are meh. I won't use the soap dish or book protector (it is pretty though but I like illumicrates ans already have two), the croc charms are... a choice... and the dagger is cute but illumicrate does way better daggers for quality (except for that feb trident... not for me)
Oh snap! 😄 I agree with everything you just said. Illumicrate’s replicas are far superior. I just thought this one was the first Fairyloot have done that didn’t look tacky. I also wasn’t keen on the trident. It felt cheaper for some reason and I can’t put my finger on why.
@DanieleaReads AGREED OMG. Fairyloots other daggers have been tacky (I don't have this one yet still on the way but it looks better!) And I also found the trident to feel cheap!! I think its because it didn't feel as heavy as the others? The october dagger I think (cruel prince) was probably my fave so far.

Oooh good choice! Page and wick is really good. I like their book choices and designs so far and the candles are actually really great.

The good thing about the ceramic items is they tend to be fairly easy to sell on if you don’t like or need them. I love the replica 😄

I’m really disappointed in the FairyLoot book for March. I may try to sell mine and just buy the original cover. It’s prettier imo.
I prefer the original cover too. Waterstones did a sprayed edge edition too but sadly it’s out of stock now.

I really wish they’d stop comparing new books to already existing ones. I’d rather re-read six of crows. 🤦♀️
