Thank you Tina. I came across this issue and found other evidence of this friendly rivalry. Also thought it interesting.

Love the work of this team of creators. I didn’t realize they had that competitive relationship…fascinating stuff.

That's what I'm talking about Joe,smashing video! I was 13 when the first new GL/GA hit the stands, it was so different from most if not all the books at the time, my father even got involved when he saw the speedy hypodermic cover, what's that you're reading he said? Got him interested for a few issues, lol! I'm in the middle of re-buying those Neal Adam Batman covers, the stories inside are so worth revisiting, expensive but worth it! I'm having an unboxing soon! I can't think personally of any duo that can hold a candle to those two these days, maybe Geoff Johns and Gary Frank now doing very fine work with Ghost Machine at Image, mind you all the people involved with that are knocking it out of the park at the moment! But Neal and Denny were unique and irreplaceable so like I said at the beginning great video and more like this please! Cheers!

Thanks for the thoughtful comment Terry. Good luck on your Batman hunt. I just found one in my long box from the early 1970s

Awesome video Joe! The Ra's Al Goul was some of my first reads of Batman! I'm glad their team ups and rivalries gave us the epic stories and beautiful art! I'll need to read some Green Lantern Green Arrow now too!!

Joe , love these history segments you offer. I was a regular reader of GL throughout the 60s and 70s ; the GL / GA issues were artistically appealing , being already appreciative of Neal's cover and interior work. Denny's writing was a mixture , from my perspective you understand , of sincere intention and sometimes missed creativity. It was always my observation that an overlooked innovation in comics social involvement was the Native American community. GL would have been a series to remedy that lack of creative innovation before the Adams - O'Neill collaboration had Tom , "Pie Face" , been awarded membership in the GL Corps ; it was justifiable since Tom had been assisting Hal in various ways during GL adventures. It's like with The Hulk series in those later social awareness 60s-70s days ; I found it "interesting" that with The Hulk being home.based in New Mexico that a character who was Native American or American of Mexican descent was never considered as a possible sidekick for Ol' Jade Jaws. In the GL/GA issue set in the reservation I felt , while reading the issue , how fresh it would be to have a NA character become a GL. A daring and different creative approach involving the presence of a NA character other than the "socially conscious downtrodden image". The social issues that GL/GA " tackled" were sincere topical concerns but growing up in a "socially topical community" the storylines sometimes felt like typical coverage.

I think Wendy and Richard Pini's partnership had a major impact on indie comics. Stan Lee/Jack Kirby is another more obvious one.
