31:00 She gave him those flower pot decorations that looked like cats because she thought he liked cats too, the reason being the pouch he'd given her earlier. It's just as simple as representing her thoughtfulness

    I cried :,)
I end up returning this year to therapy because I had little unresolved issues I was only ignoring, thinking I had overcame it... All my self hate reached me and punched me in the face haha and now I'm really working on changing it.
Man, I want to believe I can truly make it come true.

I love this anime/manga so much. I’m physically disabled and relate to Shouko and her story an insane amount. It’s hard to find representation for disability due to it being so widespread and different for each person, but this is the only media I have been able to relate to. The topic of “since I’m disabled, I have to please everyone around me so they have a reason to like me despite my disability” in this story genuinely hits home. Such a beautiful representation ❤

When I first watched this film in my late teens I was crying my eyes out. When I was 15-16 I lost my friend group and I was alone. It made me realised I did pick on a deaf girl who was my friend, I don’t blame her for not being my friend even though she was there for me at my lowest. She wasn’t the one I fell out with. I learnt the lesson of valuing friendship. I change to be a better person. I’ve accepted I don’t need there forgiveness, I got to move on.
Also in elementary school I use to be friends with this girl who had conditions. But at the same time I got in the wrong crowed as I would switch. Tbh I had my own problems growing up/teen took it out of other people. This girl and I started meeting up again after 15 years. I apologise about the past. She told me it’s doesn’t matter about the past, you’re here now. I can’t describe it but I’ve been through a transformative part of life last 10 years but especially last few years. I’m glad I had depression, I’m glad I’m still here. I can help others and be a more supportive friend to others. Being happy with yourself being alone is not an easy lesson to learn but important.
I just find it more relatable the second time I watched it.

Great vid! Liz and the bluebird is made by the same director and definitely shares some identity with ASV.
Also I want to add, I've heard this sentiment before that you talk about in the "broken toy" segment where he uses shoko as a means of avoidance, but I disagree with that notion. I think he is using her and is still riding his guilt but for not as twisted of a reason. I think he's still trying to make up for his guilt by living for her. He cannot walk away or push her away, because he owes so much to her. The least he can do is smile and be her friend, similar to the reason shoko forces her smile. I think that is more consistent with what he's feeling at the time and his past actions. It is still wrong to do to shoko, as it still isnt genuine. But It is a reversion of character to where he's controlled soley by his guilt, but not in a sense where he goes back to being completely self serving. In my opinion, this story does not work if Shouya is malicious towards shoko at any point.

What's the first part of the video from That's soo good also another reason why shoya mistakes what shoko means by I love you it's because I love you in Japanese sounds very close to the moon is beautiful that's why he looks up and says yeah the moon is pretty also fun fact the voice actress for the English version shoko is deaf herself
