Hi, Bro ! No one can help me, everyone is silent. All hope for you. Where is the whole texture that is superimposed on the terrain stored ? in overlaymaterial, it is called - overlay. png.001 if I transfer an object to 3ds max, it is without a texture. how do I do this ? how to transfer the resulting terrain and overlay mat to 3d max, and most importantly, that the glued texture was physically on my hard disk (for subsequent adjustment, for example, in photoshop). I'm a complete noob in blender, I installed it only for this plugin. Please help me, I've been suffering for 3 days. Sorry for my English.
@@tomyoda I would assume the texture is stored within the .blend file itself. I can't help you with opening it in Max as I've never used Max, but I'm sure there's some kind of standard way of doing this out there somewhere

Super straight forward and better than any other video I could find on the subject!! Thanks for helping out people that are lost ( I was the lost person)
so im having a problem when I try to upload the first imageoverlay (roughly around the 6-7 minute marker in the video). as soon as the import finishes all I get is a giant gray plane, no satellite image whatsoever. all of my settings are set to what is in the video AND im using the premium osm. any explanation? the town itself im trying to import is Johnstown, PA, though not sure if that has anything to do with it.
So my experience with this after checking this video : i have signed up to map box to have my token and i used the free version off the plugin. So 2d resolution map is really bad quality compared to a google custom map "to print". The 3d building are not really accurate but you got general shap to begin with for some who are complex. Then i imported the generated scene with terrain on my current blender file based on google map 3d extraction + 2d "printed" high res ( 2K ) and it aligned well. i got like 1 metter "error" from a distance of 560m. So to finish my level i think i gonna use both tools because the only real pain to deal with is building and maibe road. For height i gonna stick to google because it's more accurate even at long distance. And i still can make another catch to have some low distance or make real mesurement in real life like staircase to match. About buildings, i isolate one of them and resize a tiny bit according to google 2d high res map and rotate it, clean it a bit. Then i only isolate the floor and use the building tool to make floors and basics windows. So for my next project or someone who want to start from scratch and have super accurate things : Use this plugin for the road and buildings and to have a base terrain. Then import google map 2d satelitte high res for details and the 3d one to have a better terrain height. You can also for close detail use very localised 3d google map, it's very high res. And with the snaping and origin stuff it's super easy to align all of that in blender.
There is an addon option "Max number of tiles" for the satellite imagery. Increase it (e.g. double it) to get a higher resolution of the satellite imagery. It's possible to get Google satellite imagery as well (though it's against Google terms of service): github.com/vvoovv/blender-osm/wiki/Documentation#custom-url
I'm having a problem with the roads. It shows me only the paths but not the widths of the roads that I really need for my project. So, how is it possible to enable the widths of the roads? Please help me! Thank you in advance 💜
This is great! I learned how to combine this with Buildify and seeing what kinds of variations and realism I can add. Are there similar alternatives to Buildify for different types of buildings, maybe some thing sci-fi?
I've been using osm for a while, but have never explored importing trees, etc. There are a couple (at least) of other ways to do this which yield similar but different results. GIS is sort of a simpler free version and using RenderDoc brings in a 3D map that can be edited if you have the time since it provides MANY vertexes and faces. I've used all three and have found that the RenderDoc method provides actual buildings, terrains, etc. but takes some editing to ensure the scene provides the detail you need for your camera view. Thanks for the tut.
i have alrd paid and installed the add-on. however, im still only seeing the one with the basic set up, i know so cuz im not seeing the 3D realistic from the opsntreetmap
Hi, am I able to export these models and use them for asseto corsa (racing game) I know people have done it using blender, this looks like it would be the easiest method, as already does the roads. Really good video cheers for the detailed guide, if you think this is something possible would love to see it.
I am thinking this might help me to put in Unreal Engine to make the city building easier. I don't like the look of this but if i can import this to UE 4 than i can make my city on top of this. .
What if the country/city does not have 3d buildings available. I mean here in the Philippines when I used Google Earth Pro or Maps 3d building is not showing also building are not yet updated when viewing 2d view but when viewing street view buildings are there and updates. thanks
Thank you!!!! I've noticed that virtually none of the residential structures in my streetmap rectangle came up when I imported buildings. There were only a few structures which looked like they were maybe business/school buildings. Do you know why this might be? I only have the basic version. Is there an edit I can make that may include them where they have been excluded? Could the premium version include data sets for more of these basic structures?
In certain areas, OSM data is very good. In others, it's nearly empty. This is just the nature of any crowdsourced database: You get data where people have put in the time to add that data. I've been active mapping my local town for about a week now, but even for a small area the number of houses to add can be pretty daunting if other people aren't helping you do it. The silver lining: You can contribute to the map yourself, if you want to! It's surprisingly easy!
Hello, having trouble installing OSM into Blender. It won't come up in my search area. I have installed it onto my computer but then nothing is getting found in the search. I'm using a MacBook pro & safari, could that be my issue? If anyone is able to help asap that would be greatly appreciated!
I'm curious how it would import trees. Would they be instances of one object to keep model size small? Would they contain information about real tree size?
Great Video! was wondering how long it usually takes your machine to think its way through the import step? Mine seems to lag out, even tried letting it go for a few hours with no luck.
FREE VERSION: Has just "3D" (no Simple/Realistic option. I assume it's simple) . Import: Buildings; water objects; forests; other vegetation; roads and paths; railways. No "percentage of lit windows". Pretty basic but beats the hell out of doing everything manually.
I was trying the free version and it seems that it keeps cutting my buildings down like all the buildings are the same height and they are all short. did you have this problem with the premium version?
I have an issue with roads. They look like there lines even tough I convert them to mesh. And when I export roads to STL, it is a blank file. Can you help me with this?
Quick question: I used the free version to download a town that is very well mapped in Google Earth. Buildings, structures - the whole data is there. Yet the downloaded version looks nothing like real thing. Buildings are missing and the overall height of the structures are totally wrong. Is this because of the free version and would the paid version get it done better? B/c it's all there in 3D in Google Earth....
really a cool tool but a sad surprise that the heights of the buildings are completely off and random. Hoped it will get some data from google earth or something like that. That would had been awesome
I am using the paid version (today. 7/07/2020). But I cannot get any image overlay (with materials). The result given is always cubes. I copied the coordinates of "democracy monument Bangkok". Please help...
No idea - first step would be to make sure you're looking at an area that actually has data - pick somewhere like New York City in America and see if that comes in
