I'm about to scan a box full of cards and want to set up profiles for those, then recipe cards, etc. Have you done a video on that or could you tell me how to set those up? Love your videos!

I recently started using Google photos and Amazon photo storage but I cannot seem to figure out a way of organizing things in the cloud so that I can easily find or access them. You are welcome!! I primarily keep my receipts hard-copy, however, this year (b/c of this scanner) I'm going to do my best and keep some of them digitally and see how it goes for me. It really is more efficient. I did ask a couple stores if they accept digital receipts and they said yes!! I called Target and asked at Home Goods! :)

    I love the Scansnap ix500. It cost $400 but was worth it. It's fast, dual scans, ocr's docs to make docs text searchable, automatically orientates pages, easy to scan receipts, can scan from phone or other mobile device, easy to unjam by pulling a lever, it's small and compact, lightweight, can scan long pages or receipts. I have the older model like the one on her left. I like mine with no touch screen because it's simple. I recommend this scanner to everyone. It made my life a lot easier and helped me get almost completely paperless. If you need to scan double sided docs, manuals, booklets etc this makes it go very fast.

    This looks amazing but I’m not sure I want to make the commitment to a $400 scanner. I am in my late 60’s and LOVE your videos. • @HomeOrganizing
      @HomeOrganizing  5 років тому +1

      SUPER EASY! I did it on my own easily. Setup wifi, enter in your evernote info, and it connects. Then just configure the settings to your liking. I feel like the hardest part with any equipment, software, is just familiarizing yourself. I always give myself time (20 min) to just get familiar - no expectations but to just learn. Once I'm familiar, it's fast and simple!

    The scanner should have paper guides on the sides so that the sheets of paper are not shuffled out of order as they scan through and land on the paper catcher. Also, to eliminate to the possibility of having the papers fall on the floor.

    Thank you for your review! I've been considering this purchase for quite sometime, but had questions most of which you answered. **Question: do I need to purchase any special software to use with the scanner? I saw you scanned directly to MS Word, however I have seen this scanner bundled with a license for a program called Neat. Did you use Neat or is MS Office and Evernote (or other similar app, I use Dropbox) all I need? I would be scanning and saving primarily to an external drive, but love your idea for scanning receipts and making them searchable and accessible via Evernote to have them accessible on the go!

    • @HomeOrganizing
      @HomeOrganizing  5 років тому +1

      No special software is needed - it comes loaded with ScanSnap Home (their software for organizing your files). I did not use Neat. MS Office is all you need if you are scanning there to recover a doc. You can also scan in an excel and PowerPoint file for doc recovery and it will recognize the text. It can scan directly to Dropbox without a computer or device! When you scan to your desktop, you can select and save your settings to always scan to a certain folder! For example, photos can always be scanned to the same folder while business cards can be scanned and saved to a different folder. The profiles are really fun to setup and configure!! :)

      I spent half of yesterday trying to scan documents to send to a mortgage company. There were bank statements, tax returns, etc. I tried first with Adobe Scan on my iPad Pro. It is not a perfect process especially if you don’t do it often, and I ended up just taking photos of each page. My printer is a scanner but so slow. This thing seems like the answer!

    It probably won't affect too many other people but the restriction of 30 profiles is a problem if you have multiple issues. If you have 5 profiles for different things, you can only have 6 people that can use it unless you constantly delete and recreate profiles. They really need to fix this, its a major issue that wasn't present on the ix500.

    Appreciate you showing everything the scanner can scan but you didn’t show how you can set up profiles.

    Love the channel but here i dont agree,. I'm huge into scanning and the Czur or other above type scanners are superior because they can easily do paper, binded books even objects.

    For everyone who has $400 for a scanner... doesn’t seem very budget friendly. Also worth considering the risk of having very personal info stolen because you scanned your life into a computer and got hacked.

      Thank you so much for that information I've been wanting to buy one of those scanners.

      You could be hacked without the scanner, too. It also saves time and money and space. And in a few years it has amortisized. 💰👍

    I hate this scanner. Problems to install, problems to send directly to folder. A true disaster, my old Epson was simple and straightforward
