As an IT guy for a 700+ person company, yes please continue this. It could really help our purchasing decisions (and yes, these scansnap scanners have worked fairly well in our experience even on terminal server environments)
This is one of my all-time favorite purchases. Have had it for years, and have never regretted the purchase. Customer service is great, and it's easy to maintain.
I have the ScanSnap S510M, have had it for years. I don't know how many books I've scanned, let alone documents, and these scanners just keep going and going. I remember I paid like $600 back in the day, and honestly it's one of the best things I've bought. So useful! It saves so much time, and it makes it super easy to put anything of importance on the computer. So I would recommend this product to anyone, not just business owners. I used mine to convert all my college textbooks to PDFs, so I could have them on my tablet and laptop and wouldn't have to have carry the book around. Not to mention they are all now available on the cloud so I can reference them anytime anywhere. One of many awesome things you can do with this scanner!
I think it's great that you and your staff makes videos that aren't just focused on consumer grade stuff. I'm pretty sure a sizeable portion of your subscribers are businessmen anyway, so your experiences with business-grade tech could open the eyes of others. Despite it being a business product, I can see a lot of consumers buying it based on your review, because it has functionality that is hard to come by in other products. I say keep the reviews coming of the tech you and your staff uses on a day to day basis.
As a business owner, these sorts of solutions are ALWAYS welcome! I owe you guys a great big thanks with that NAS video. I had been using the traditional backup methods with HHD + butt loads of caddies for over 10 years. I now use a Qnap along with Dropbox, you guys have saved me a ton of time and money! Big thanks!
Business side is interesting for me. It's good to see that self-employment is not just rainbows and sun shines. Even these minor things could be done effectively in small businesses.
Please keep doing this stuff. While the vast majority won't be interested in it for ourselves, many of us are influencers at work, home and 'other' and letting you guys do the research so we can just say "this office chair" when appropriate is really handy, if only to give us a baseline for our own research!
It's a nice change to see both business and consumer grade tech. It just means that you are accommodating for all different types of viewers. Great Job Linus LinusTechTips
I pretty much watch what ever you guys put up, because I'm always learning. y'all are my one stop shop for information. If I see something that I like and need a review on it. I search this channel first. I'm going to forward this vid to a friend of mine who owns a small IT company. Love it guys!
Far and away your best review of a product so far! The vast majority of things you review are like "yeah maybe one day when I get rich" but this review is of a product that could help me in my every day life!
I braced myself for buyer's remorse after bringing home the IX500, but within a couple of hours I changed my mind and all of my expectations of what a business scanner should be. 10 stars out of 5. And Linus, keep the small business stuff coming! Here's one that you might find fun and a necessary evil for all small businesses that just can't use their cell phones for everything...OnSIP VOIP and eBay refurbished VOIP phones. I outfitted 8 offices for $15/phone and $50/month. Cheers!
I love it. I've been using this for years. It is life-changing. I add keywords to each document (or photo) and auto distribute them to predefined folders. No only do I eliminate paper; but I can easily find every document I scan.
NIce.... Thank you for this and YES keep reviewing of the business products coming. Very appreciative of the style of quick and to the point but still very informative review.
I am using one of those all the time at work. I 100% support making more of those videos, people need to learn how awesome professional business grade stuff is. It changes lifes.
I'd love to see more business level tech reviews as well as enterprise class evaluations. Your videos and reviews have made my mind up before in both realms of Bussiness and Consumer grade products and I have yet to have to return or junk anything you have shown!
Hell yes, please do more of these! It's actually difficult to find trust worthy reviews on stuff like this. I've been looking for a small printer for my space. I have an absolutely HUGE printer/scanner/fax machine that's half the size of my desk currently. This looks perfect.
Yeah like wired network usb to rj45 server adapter to the fujitsu scanner (with individualized scanned folders and settings via software interface)? Has anyone tried this yet? btw i know theres the wireless option but would like to keep it wired.
I bought this scanner a couple of years ago. I have a small consulting business. The scanner is brilliant for my needs in cleaning up my office and converting the myriad paper documents, records, receipts, etc., into searchable files. So much better and faster than a flatbed scanner. Yes, much more expensive than flatbed scanner, but time saving alone justifies the purchase. And the software is good and easy to use as well. This video was good, concise and learnt a few additional things I could do but didn't know about. The video might seem like overselling, but the machine lives up to the hype for me.
Keep reviewing stuff like this. I'm an IT consultant and I spend a fair amount of time just looking for products that my clients need to do simple tasks. I do feel pretty good about myself now since I just settled on and installed this scanner at a client less than a month ago... It is a great product.
More videos like this would be good, it's a great way to let viewers with businesses know what else is out there, especially when someone such as myself tends to deal mostly with consumer grade products at work.
Loved the way you did this no time waste synopsis. I have been using this scanner for 3 years, yet I managed to pick up a couple of helpful tips! Excellent Job! Would love to see more small business related stuff.
Just wanted to say that business tip videos are a plus. You do a great job on your reviews, detailing in the areas that I am usually looking for when they are not present on the sellers spec page. Keep the business videos coming!
Hi LMG Team! :) I just wanted to comment here, I know this video is older at this point but the information has proven to be very valuable to me. I work for a customer who just purchased 3 of these scanners and your review has helped me very quickly come up to speed on the product. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :) ..and yes I think you should keep giving us these videos on the office tools you guys use. You have a young business and I think your team has some awesome insight into many emerging ways to handle day-to-day operations. :)
First, try to improve your English before making that comment. And 2nd you should know that "professional" is not just a green screen and talk like a robot. He's professional on his own way, doing what people call professional is not the only way to go. Just sayin'.
asho78 White backdrops are very commonly used... usually green screened then just a white back ground with sometimes a light radial grey... Also, Apple
***** With all the respect, I know English is not the only language 'cause I'm from Argentina where Spanish is the main language. I said that because if he wanna get an answer he SHOULD speak English. And what he said is not an opinion, is a proposition. I'm not here to start a debate, but thanks for your opinion.
Even though I don't want/need a scanner there are a couple reasons why I like these kinds of videos. 1) I like to see the new tech; both hardware and the software integration of all the different devices that it interacts with. 2) It's kind of like a mini "behind the scenes" video, which i like. With 144k views of your studio tour, I think its safe to say I'm not the only one. One other thing. I've seen some people suggest that you get a proper office... I kind of like the setup you have. I use to think "tech videos being shot on a kitchen themed set, how charming". After watching the studio tour and seeing that its a real kitchen (and bathroom) the charm factor has gone through the roof! Whether you start a "Bathroom Benchmarks" series or move to a boring old office, I'll keep watching.
Great machine. It is a work horse. It has glitches at time but most of the time it is load document an press the button. When a document misfeeds, it is super easy to open it up and re-feed. A useful review, please keep them coming.I bought it first by an online recommendation but I have used this review to recommend it via email, twitter and Facebook.
As an accountant in an office trying to become paperless, this scanner is a God send and has saved so much time in our office that virtually everyone has one now.
I use this for my small business too. It's so nice not to have paper all over my desk anymore. I think you did the right thing telling people about this. :)
Pretty much, any video you make is one I'd watch. Office Equiptment, Production Gear, PC Hardware & Accessories. Keep em coming! I'd give this video a 5 Star if I could.
I know this video is old, but my wife brought one of these home from work, raving about it. So I thought to investigate what the "Big Deal" was for a scanner which I assumed was 30 - 50 Dollars. I see now that I missed a shift in the market back in 2013 and apparently scanners are now back in the 500 dollar range thanks to this product. And your review is great, as it catalogs this moment in time when humanity was tired of the cheap scanners, and willing to pay for one that worked. I don't think you even realized the significance of this.
I like the business reviews Linus! I work for a software company that sells quite a few scanners and our customers are always looking for recommendations and this one looks like a good contender!
Keep Business grade things coming Linus. Always great to see really interesting things. I just installed one of these at a client's office a few months ago. Didn't have the time to play with it though.
Just bought a scansnap ix1600 because of this video! Would like to see more behind the scenes stuff related to your day to day business stuff these days too!
actually pretty nice of you reviewing a business product, would like to see more of that stuff, maybe a separate sub-channel LinusTechTips - with servers, switch-stuff etc.
I personally like seeing variety in the types of products you review. Though I may not ever need the info on this specific scanner, if the time comes when I ever do need a scanner, or need to recommend one, seeing the occasional videos like this helps keep me up to date on what features to look for, and I'd love to see videos on just about anything you're willing to review :)
Keep it up Linus! Many people can benefit from your videos, I'm sure if you did a video on pretzels someone would still be better off then before they watched it.
Love this approach... Small Business Hardware, that may help me ease up on the manual work, and automate as much of my day as possible is great! do more of these videos LinusTechTips
Keep it up with the Business stuff....this review helped me decide to buy this - i like your honesty regarding some of the crappier features but it basically does the job and saves time and thats what we want.
Although the video is completely useless as a general consumer, I still find it pretty cool seeing all the neat new things that come out. As long as these mainly stick to when there's nothing all that interesting on the PC side of the market i'd say good job keep it up!
I became aware of you guys from this post so I would say it was a good way to convert small business folks like myself who wouldn't necessarily know of you guys otherwise. Great video.
This thing is pricey, but I'm so glad I watched this and decided to buy one. I've been using a Samsung all-in-one with a flatbed scanner and document feeder for years, but this thing blows that out of the water. It was even fun to scan my 7 1/2 years of business receipts, and I never thought I'd say that. While it was definitely a bigger hit to the wallet than I would have liked, I wish I had purchased this sooner, and it is probably one of the best purchases I have ever made for my business.
I provide IT support for small businesses and have been recommending the Fujitsu scanners for years. Something the adds great value to the purchase is that it does include PDF creation software. Unfortunately it no includes Adobe Acrobat Standard ($299 value). They now come with Nuance PowerPDF.
Really like the business approach that you guys are taking, for me it's a lot more interesting then video cards...but what ever pay the rent for you guys is just fine by me. I really appreciate the hard work that you guy are putting in to your video.
I for one, think its great that you guys make such videos. even not being a business owner i can find a lot of things i could use this for :D So keep it up :)
Honestly I don't really come to this channel to look for things to buy, I come mostly to stay updated on technologies regardless of whether they are for businesses or for consumers. It's also nice to know what is generally good and what is bad even if I don't intend to own it. So I guess what I'm saying is that I don't mind business oriented products. One thing I would appreciate, though, is a regular (annual, most likely) video showcasing some of the best "linus approved" consumer products of the year. And I don't just mean products that you personally love but ones that you can wholeheartedly recommend. So, if someone is in the market for a monitor, they can look at your 2014 linus approved video and start their search there. The scope of products that you can endorse might be kind of small because you don't do a TON of reviews, but then maybe you could hold official polls on the forum and have popular products among the viewers be featured in that annual video? Just an idea, take it or leave it :)
I think that was great, the more variety the merrier. If it's all computer I'm all for it. And small business tech and advice is pretty cool and handy for many in this day and age.
I just got myself a used ix500 now in Late 2023 and it's still amazing ^^
As an IT guy for a 700+ person company, yes please continue this. It could really help our purchasing decisions (and yes, these scansnap scanners have worked fairly well in our experience even on terminal server environments)
This is one of my all-time favorite purchases. Have had it for years, and have never regretted the purchase. Customer service is great, and it's easy to maintain.
I dont really care what you put up, i still watch it
Exactly
and I still enjoy it
boopidipresto
He should do more and different product. Think about drones, robot vacuum cleaners, remote controlls for all equiment in house and stuff like that.
Same. I don't even need or want a scanner I just watch it 'cause it's Linus. :)
I can't believe I just watched a video about a scanner, DAMNIT. I watch every video on this channel.
That's the power of Linus, we can't escape him.
***** He has brainwashed us!
You fuckin know it!
I just came here for that thumbnail...
I was just thinking the same thing, I am never going to get this yet I just watched a 8 min vid about it. Fkn linus is powerful.
I have the ScanSnap S510M, have had it for years. I don't know how many books I've scanned, let alone documents, and these scanners just keep going and going. I know this is super late but I love when you do reviews like this because it really helps me when I'm looking to buy products like this.
Thanks!
Only Linus can make me sit through an 8 minute video about a scanner.
Please keep doing this stuff. While the vast majority won't be interested in it for ourselves, many of us are influencers at work, home and 'other' and letting you guys do the research so we can just say "this office chair" when appropriate is really handy, if only to give us a baseline for our own research!

Time for a review of the ix1500!
I pretty much watch what ever you guys put up, because I'm always learning. y'all are my one stop shop for information. If I see something that I like and need a review on it. I search this channel first. I'm going to forward this vid to a friend of mine who owns a small IT company. Love it guys!
I will never buy one, I won't need one in the foreseeable future, yet I'm here Linus, watching your video.
Fuck.
For somebody who is currently finishing school and going into the IT field, seeing these products are awesome. Keep them coming guys.
Why are they called Kensington locks? Was there a guy names Kensington who kept having his stuff stolen?
Probably the guy who invented it.
Is the name of the patent.

The price is the only thing stopping one of these being at every workstation at our office. Fantastic little machines.
Even if you're talking about a paperclip I'd still watch your videos
I am using one of those all the time at work. I 100% support making more of those videos, people need to learn how awesome professional business grade stuff is. It changes lifes.
BEST. INTRO. EVER.
I'd love to see more business level tech reviews as well as enterprise class evaluations. Your videos and reviews have made my mind up before in both realms of Bussiness and Consumer grade products and I have yet to have to return or junk anything you have shown!
Great video, who would have known that scanners can be interesting :D
Hell yes, please do more of these! It's actually difficult to find trust worthy reviews on stuff like this. I've been looking for a small printer for my space. I have an absolutely HUGE printer/scanner/fax machine that's half the size of my desk currently. This looks perfect.
How about a new update on the ix500!

A white background would look so boring!! At least with a kitchen I have something to catch my eye

your printer is on the toilet?
Check out Linsus teck group video his networking stuff is in a bathroom its funny but the best thing the water is still on lol
I really like the idea of being shown what you guys use internally as part of the business side of Linus Tech Tips. More please!
Great machine. It is a work horse. It has glitches at time but most of the time it is load document an press the button. When a document misfeeds, it is super easy to open it up and re-feed. Watching Linus's video in 1.5x or 2x speed is still audible and is a joy.
Love hearing about the business side of things as a small business owner this is a huge help.
As an accountant in an office trying to become paperless, this scanner is a God send and has saved so much time in our office that virtually everyone has one now.
This is like the Evernote scanner? I want one. Linus, make reviews of anything, we watch the videos because of your energy.

Really liked this vid, it's cool to see what businesses like yours use daily rather than just consumer tech.
Linus, you have such a diversity of followers, I think the mix of user end products and fun, gaming products are great! Keep up the good work!!!!
I like the business reviews Linus! I work for a software company that sells quite a few scanners and our customers are always looking for recommendations and this one looks like a good contender!
As a business owner myself I do like to see what my goto for gaming tech also is showcasing in business tech, I say keep going!
Keep Business grade things coming Linus. Always great to see really interesting things. I just installed one of these at a client's office a few months ago. Didn't have the time to play with it though.
I like you post something like this because I can see something like this really increase the efficiency at our office.
its really cool to see commercial products covered a bit as well. who knows what we will need to know or use in the future. great video
No matter what you review, I'm glad you do. Maybe getting a scanner like this will help me get a business up and running.
I appreciate these videos because if you can rely on the products to help run your business then i can rely on them at home.
You have no idea how great of timing this video was. I was watching it before leaving to go to Best But and get a scanner. I really like this option.
Just bought a scansnap ix1600 because of this video! Would like to see more behind the scenes stuff related to your day to day business stuff these days too!
I appreciate videos like these sir Linus.
Please do more reviews on these office helpers more in the future!
Keep em coming linus. it's good to see and learn about stuff we don't unusally follow.
Thank you linus. When i first saw your video i can not stop n i learn a lot from you n your group. Hope you all never stop n keep going strong.
Glad you review it, even do this is old as hell my scanner has given me a lot of miles and still up and running.... best investment for my office...
actually pretty nice of you reviewing a business product, would like to see more of that stuff, maybe a separate sub-channel LinusTechTips - with servers, switch-stuff etc.
I like both the business and consumer grade video's! Keep the great work up linus! (and the other staff ofcourse!)
Keep the business oriented reviews coming! Want more of those!

I just watched a video about a business grade scanner. . . and I loved it. Good job Linus.
Im not a business man but i still like videos like this. All tech is welcome :) Ty for the video
We still use these things at work lol, can't believe I found an LTT video on it explaining the features. This is going right to my boss!
Many people are in the market for both business and consumer class products so please continue reviewing both.
Although the video is completely useless as a general consumer, I still find it pretty cool seeing all the neat new things that come out. As long as these mainly stick to when there's nothing all that interesting on the PC side of the market i'd say good job keep it up!
Love the business oriented videos. Everybody does consumer stuff. Keep it up!
I became aware of you guys from this post so I would say it was a good way to convert small business folks like myself who wouldn't necessarily know of you guys otherwise. Great video.

Really like the business approach that you guys are taking, for me it's a lot more interesting then video cards...but what ever pay the rent for you guys is just fine by me. I really appreciate the hard work that you guy are putting in to your video.

The scope of products that you can endorse might be kind of small because you don't do a TON of reviews, but then maybe you could hold official polls on the forum and have popular products among the viewers be featured in that annual video? Just an idea, take it or leave it :)
I work in enterprise document imaging, and it's always really neat to see imaging products in the wild :)
I think that was great, the more variety the merrier. If it's all computer I'm all for it. And small business tech and advice is pretty cool and handy for many in this day and age.
Thanks for the continuously great reviews. Nice balance of personality, entertainment and information.
Love the business stuff. This certainly help me with deciding what to get for my own business. Thanks and keep up the great work!
@LinusTechTips I'm in the market for a business scanner and I appreciated your review. Keep up the good work!
More of the professional/very high end stuff please. I love seeing new things that are amazing (but expensive :/)
Hi, is there an updated version for printers or scanners in 2023?
Blast from the past, hello 2023
I like these videos because they are things you researched and bought for yourself/business.
