*HEY Y'ALL! Enjoy this behind the scenes stuff, man. The finished and mixed review will be up next Friday! We shot a lot of stuff and my boy Brent is actually doing most of the editing. It's gonna look and sound SICK. So git'cha headphones and earbuds ready! It also features a short interview with Brent behind the board to get his take on the heads from an engineer's point of view. So stay tuned! I also may or may not have a little gift for you guys in the description box* 😉
That front kick head design is BOSS!
Cy, You must be around my age, 71 YO. I haven't heard that term BOSS in many years !! :):):) . Boss , man !
blue and black beautiful
master rob brown
Cool stuff man, love to see behind the scenes
This just makes me wanna buy Yamaha everything now😂🤙🏽
That snare sounds crackin"
Thx for the video, love the behind the scenes. Kit sounds awesome & your playing is on point as usual.
Great sounding kit love the front head. Love the look of the set
Sound great in that room. Excited to hear them through the mics
Good one..hello from the Uk. Got them on my kit already. Great heads.
Te aplaudo Rob ! Poder estar con la gente de Yamaha!!
That kit sounds great. The kick drum had maximum thumpification. Can't wait for the review video, i use uv1s on my kit, it will be interesting to hear the difference.
Yamaha rules. thanks!
Sho’ do 💯
Wanting the Live Custom hybrids for a while! The blue colour looks beautiful
sounds great

Cool vid! Thanks for sharin'! Sounded great 🤘😀👍
So glad to see you review these skins bro... who else could of honestly comment on a product like this?? Thanx for the upload. Hope you release more vlogs like this in the future!!!
That ps3 on kick sounds awesome... and whole kit sounded good too...
Wait til you hear the drum mixes in the review video 🤯
I have a Yamah Live Oak Custom kit and I love it!!! It was played at one of the Final Four games with Wake Forest University.
This a drummer ya'll!
setting up good
Oh yeahmy Brother, I am so jealous that we don't have any snow down here in SE Georgia, USA! Thanks and Blessings!!!
Pearl Masters.......!
awesome video!
Nice to see you follow your own tuning method while setting up the floortom 😋
Yerp 🤘🏽💯 Every single time
drum beautiful :0
So... head change to Evans UV2s coming my way!!!
Wait til you hear the mix in the review video 🤯
Looks like that in Metro Detroit too man. Freezin!
Rob, the Thumpernator, another Cool Video. You should do more Behind the Scenes stuff. Very Informative to layman drummers like me whom plays for a retirement hobby at 71 YO at home. I think I'm going to try the UV2s on my Maple Kit.
Keep Grandma in the house, me and Grandpa believe!
very cold man
Great video. My OCD thanks you all for organizing those mic cables going to the board too! :) I wonder how that new Yamaha pedal differs from the new Tama pedal.
omg man, cool
We got snow down here in the states also. Love living in lake effect areas
Hell yeah my fellow Great Lakes friend, Go Brownies! 🌨❄️☃️❄️🌨
It's cool until the 3rd or 4th shovel. Then I'm ready to move on. lol
Rob Brown Snowblower my friend... a necessity.
Man, that reso kick head's giving me vertigo 😁
Hey Rob, amazing chops and channel. May I ask what's the groove music starting at 4:04?
I miss playing on a Yamaha kit, I really loved the versatility in sound, very few drum companies can match it 😭 I’m stuck with an entry level Sound Percussion kit with Mesh heads at the moment, and it’s just not the same
Hey ........are you ever gonna be in the DC area?
Hi Rob, what cymbals did you use here? and what sizes? :D Thanks , The splash really sounds great!
Awesome graphic on that reso head! Based on one of your videos, I recently outfitted a 6PC Club Custom with all Onyx heads and was blown away with the sound. The next thing I was looking to acquire was the Hybrid Oak. Are the oversized shells a unicorn? I never see them on videos. I’d love to hear the 24” kick with 13-14, FT16-18. You sounded amazing on that kit. Thanks and greetings from Quebec 🥶
I hear you 🥶
Hey Rob, I've been out of the loop for a bit and just saw the blue Yamaha's on the thumbnail and had to click on it. At first I thought you got a new set bro. The oaks sound sweeeeeet, but can't compare to your one of a kind Phoenix kit. Keep up the great drumming videos. 🥁🎵💯
This series is the new diet PHX. Absolutely smokin 🏆
@@RobBeatdownBrown it seems as though Yamaha is making high end drums more affordable with drum lines like these. Also, by the way it looks like Ontario really got hit with some snow up there☃️. Here in the midwest we just got a dusting❄
Nice.Which Kick Drum head Combo is that?
You're from Canada?! That's cool! Wonder why Drumeo hasnt seen you or invited y'all to their headquarters to fill a video!👍
what adjustment to the cam on that BD pedal did antonio do if you would know?
Rob. If you owned a Ludwig Vistalite, which Evans heads would you use and why? Thanks from The US!
Ohhhhh makes want to change my drum heads I'm way past due, I like the sound of ur drum kit better , maybe the rooms to big or something
Is that just stain on the inner shells, or a coating (a lá Gretsch)?
Love my Yamaha kit and pedal. Great products. Nice cameras, Rob. Mind sharing what you are using?
Most of this footage was shot on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. The still cam shots during the music sequence were shot on a Canon T5i with the kit lens
@@RobBeatdownBrown I particularly liked the look of the footage as you talked to the camera when inside your house.
Sounds fabulous! What variety of Paiste ride cymbal are you using here? I love the bell sound.
22” 602 Modern Essentials 🏆
@@RobBeatdownBrown ... What about the rest Rob? They sounded great even in the raw recording!
Hello Rob. Our church has a new drumset, a Gretsch Energy. Still on stock drumheads. I'm planning to replace them soon because there will be a sale on musical items in my country. Question is, which drumhead will make the drum sound better? Particular on the toms...UV1 coated, UV2 coated or EC2?? Our church is not that big but it's all mic'd up. Hope you answer. Thanks in advance! :)
Is that cool logo head available for purchase? Great on my absolute custom birch Yamaha kit!
Brother Rob! Totally cool behind the scenes video..kit and heads sound WOW!!! Brother, your Singles exercises made a HUGE DIFFERENCE in my playing!! My sons and I have a fishing channel but I just put out a drum solo for fun..it would be an honor if you had a chance to check it out! Lord bless you Brother! ☝️👊
Looks like my backyard
Great sounds but a personal choice for me is a deeper sounding kick. But I wouldn't say no to the heads being handed to me....
Love the reso bass drum head!!! I need this for my recording customs and absolute hybrids!!! Rob do you know where I can get one?
This one was made specially for Yamaha Canada for this particular kit as a promo head. Unfortunately this will remain the only one of its kind
@@RobBeatdownBrown actually I just ordered one without the Yamaha logo, added band logo!
One question the 14 inch its the same for tom and snare??
Not crazy for the blue but they sound excellent
When the review of the uv2 coming?
Next Friday ✌🏽
Rob Brown can’t wait. Thinking bout getting for the Gretsch Renown R1 snare
When did you endorse by Evans drumhead?
You are so 😎
Another thing I noticed. While playing you mostly look a bit downward to the left (at the hihat ?) Funny thing is.... my bandmates said that about me. Now the question is: Do many drummers have this habit of looking left/down while playing ?
(No, I’m not a philospher.)
My wife tells me I look to and favor the left side of the kit. I am however a right handed drummer. I’m thinking of removing the hi-hat and putting a drum over there to mess with.
Sir can you do a video on how to muffle your drums ?
Cuz we got these. These are the new GlennGarry heads. And you don't get them. Second place is a set of aquarian
Hey Rob! Can you review the Evans j1 etched???? Barely any reviews on UA-cam :/ I'm very curious about them since they are said to be similar to the calftone but with extra durabilty. :)
I was a fan of the J1. Cool head but it was never a popular one for Evans. Sits between a clear and coated head. It’s probably closer to a G1 than a Calftone
@@RobBeatdownBrown thanks!!! :)
It makes me sad that I can’t afford a Yamaha Live Custom Oak Hybrid kit or the UV2’s drum heads.
Don’t be sad my friend, sacrifice and start saving now. I saved for nearly 20 years to buy my Les Paul, it’s well damn worth it!
The longer the wait, the sweeter the reward! 🤠
If you want your dream kit, just ask, trust and believe.
So you can't afford drum heads either? What are you using, layers of plastic wrap?! LOL
mgdrummer78 How did you know?
@@that-avr-drummer lol soo insensitive
Is that a silver seal inside the shells, similar to Gretsch?
Roger Singh just black paint
@@ritzk79 Thanks for letting me know 😃

Hi Rob. I’m from Niagara Falls On. Been a big fan of the channel for several years. Learned a lot, and like your unique approach to teaching.
I’m thinking of trading in my old Custom Oak kit for the Live Hybrid series. My son has the Live Oaks, so I’m familiar with those.
I’m curious about your opinion of these after using them in the video. I believe you play the Stage Custom, and the Phoenix series, correct?
Would really value your opinion on the Hybrids.
The Live Custom Oak is like a junior PHX. If I didn’t already have mine, I’d get one of these in the same configuration
Rob Brown Thanks for the reply Rob. That’s all I needed to hear. Am looking forward to your next video. Cheers.
Rob Brown, just subscribed to your channel and have been practicing some of your instructional vids, didn’t realize you’re based in Canada, why is your merchandise is US Dollars??
It's a US printer. But you can change the currency to CAD on the order page
Do another Worship drummer video
hey neighbor, I will share some snow with you from Northern Michigan
What is that splash cymbal?
10” Paiste PST-X
@@RobBeatdownBrown thanks! Sounds cool!
Just realized your into is in 5/4 lol

Wich reso head were on 👏👏🥁🥁🇨🇦
Stock clear Ambassadors
I caught that reaction to the new pedal. Was it so impressive that youd recommend it to someone looking for a new one. Im trying to decide between the fpo9 direct drive or trick pro1v. Price point is a factor but last time i compromised i was terribly disappointed...
Can’t lie. The Trick Pro 1V is the Bugatti of kick pedals. But this FP9 is seriously smokin. I’ll be getting one for sure.
@@RobBeatdownBrown so youve played both? Is that to say the extra money is worth it? If you were nobody from nowhere would you get the bugatti or the ferrari and a crash cymbal?
Something sounds held back in the sound of these drums. Or heads...? Sounds "Barky" like. I have the Original Live Custom Oaks, with emperors on them. They sound much more pleasing than this
brian boyd I have a set of the original Custom Oak, and my son has the all black live customs. They are both in the studio along with a Tama Bubinga set that I haven’t heard yet because they’re his gig kit and not set up. I can’t wait to play and hear these as they are no longer made, due to Bubinga being classified as endangered. He can’t even take this kit into the USA.
My thoughts are the location of Rob’s video has poor acoustics and that makes a huge difference in the sound. In a different setting, such as Rob’s studio they would probably sound closer to yours. Our drums sound different in different areas of the same room. Acoustics make a huge difference. Cheers.
first to see :)
