Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

Sad thing is Jimmy was jus trying to break the awkward silence with his jokes.
what a sick joke!

Chuck once again in Jimmy's shadow when it comes to actual social situations
Something i missed on my first watch was before this scene chuck and rebecca talked about a emergency signal to make him leave, it was pulling the ear, and never noticed chuck do it twice during dinner
3:48 and when?

Vravo Brince
i thought the same!! Maybe is a longer scene ...?
Intelligence vs Charisma
Chuck's ego got in the way of so much. Jimmy was trying to break the ice but Chuck could never get over his jealousy and we see where that led to.
I just realized, Chuck having Jimmy wipe his feet at the doormat upon entry is similar to later on when Chuck makes sure everyone who enters his house is "grounded" and discharges their electricity
Alternatively, it might be because he deems Jimmy as "impure". The rule might be relaxed for others while he ENSURES Jimmy does it right. It might reflect how Chuck already had a disdain for Jimmy, but other factors, especially the divorce, amplified it and fully realized it. Both Jimmy and Chuck became the worst versions of themselves.
Good catch
What I love the most about this episode is the transition from a sceptical Rebecca, with a seemingly convincing assumption of Jimmy, based on Chuck's view, to a complete revelation seeing Jimmy as a loving, funny and emotional human being. And the final joke seems to indicate that she appreciates the contrast that Jimmy's presence contributes with, giving how serious and almost lifeless Chuck's personality is in comparison. But not even Chuck's sight of seeing his wife appreciating his brother (fully aware how much it means to Jimmy) is tolarable. It's so sad. Especially knowing the full story...
some of those lawyer jokes are actual comedy gold
3:44 Howard would've loved this one
Zoing!
That thumbnail needs to be a meme
I busted out laughing :D
lol
Eating in the dark. Looks like Chuck was just starting to have trouble with electricity
Jimmy was such a nice dude
One thing I've learned in business is when you find someone who is better than you at something... befriend them. I've been able to work through a number of tough situations because of mutual support, where I can support them with skills I'm better at, and they similarly support me with skills they are better at. Additionally, simply by working with them, I can at least strengthen those skills where I am lacking, and I build up my reputation as I help them through the issues they are having problems with.
IMO it's a much more valuable approach than the overvalued rivalry and competition.
@@thebiggestcauldron There's nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition in the workplace. Rivalry though is always bad as that's taking competition to obsession which is never productive.
the sad thing is, if Chuck just told Jimmy everything he was feeling and screamed at him about what happened with their father in the shop, how he generally makes him feel maybe even without realizing how inferior he makes Jimmy feel, things would be different but ironic to Chuck's speech when he said "deep down you know that I'm right" and "Slippin' Jimmy with a law degree is like a chimp with a machine gun" is that deep down, he knew he was wrong to treat Jimmy this way but could never admit it, not even to himself.
jealousy is an evil thing
This is the moment Chuck ate dinner
Ironic that chuck mentions Carol Burnett and yet Carol is the one who calls the cops on Jimmy.
People respect Chuck, but they love Jimmy
the thumbnail is something else
Would've been interesting to see how Chuck and Rebecca fell for each other. Considering how lifeless and chuck having almost zero social skills.
“WHAT A SICK JOKE!”
Two lawyers, one honest, the other corrupted.
Perfectly ambiguous.
They were both dishonest
Burying lawyers under 20 ft of dirt - maybe a reference to Howard?
i bet Chuck's never gotten her to laugh like that, if this was real of course
He orchestrated this to make me unfunny Jimmy!
What a sick joke!
He defecated through a sunroof!
A knock knock setup for Christ sake? A lawyer punchline? What a sick joke!
Those lawyer jokes! Are you telling me that Rebecca just happens to laugh like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy!
This thumbnail is WILD :D
What a sick joke!
"Yo ma ma" came to his wedding?😂😅
No, Yo-yo Ma, insanely talented cellist, played at Obamas inauguration when he became president. I recommend you check his performances out, hes got a funny name and incredible history of performances c:
Unrelated to this episode, other than the brother’s I just had a flashback to an episode about their mom dying in the hospital, after watching her in a coma for hours, Jimmy whines that he hungry, Chuck, annoyed, tells him to go get something to eat. He is sitting there holding her hand, she wakes up for a moment, says JIMMY, then died. When Jimmy came back to the room with a sandwich, Chuck, of course didn’t tell him the truth about her dying moment. What a bitter man. Superb acting by Micheal McKeon
It’s honestly a double edged sword.
Because he might guilt him accidentally by saying that he missed his mom’s last words.
I agree though, he should’ve said so either way. Because death is never predictable.
"i watched mom die.. i like it. i was good at it."

Jimmy joined HHM in the late 90s, right?
i think so
When did Howard's End come out?
@@devonwhite2443 you mean when did Howard die on the show?
@@EmoxPro no the movie Howard's End, which is mentioned in the Oscar pool, so Jimmy joined sometime close to then
Howard's end came out in 1992, and in that flashback Kim and Jimmy were still working in the mail room. So early nineties
First. Also great scene
Who ever makes these thumbnails should be fired. BCS & BB are so much more than the generic trend of trying to get views. This series has its fan and these thumbnails are so uninspired. Seems really insecure of a very successful show.
erm, ok lol

Hate how jimmy eats and chews his food so damn loudly!🤮🤮🤮 why do actors do that? Over exaggerating in case the dummy’s watching don’t know they’re eating dinner???
🥵🥵🥵
To show contrast between the brothers. Jimmy is from the streets and Chucky is proud to be a classy man
