I have a 397, great air rifle. I decided to get one after asking an air rifle smith if he could make my Sheridan into a .22 cal , he suggested getting the 397. Keep up the good videos!
Benjamin air rifles and pistols are among the best made in the USA. I am a collector of Benjamin rifles and pistols. Nice rifle, and rare with the nickle finish. I love that you use the valve tool to prop the gun. It looks to be new! Great vid!
Thank you T Bump for taking a look and the positive comment. Good eye on the valve tool used for support! The rifle for sure hasn't been used much and the original box is in very good condition as well. 🙂👍
Beautiful gun and thank you for all the info you're the only video ive been able to find on this exact gun. I actually have one exactly like yours with the nickel finish another Benjamin Sheridan rifle as well as well as a Benjamin Sheridan pistol if anybody's interested in them.
@@tbump1104 well I'm computer illiterate I tried to figure out how to email you but I don't know how to do it on UA-cam. Is there a way to do this to Carolee without putting our information all over the web ?
@@sic-n-tiredtired4273 Not sure? I am a 60 year old air gun collector and would love to find a way to get a hold of you. Maybe someone on here has a suggestion? Otherwise, I would be interested in your air guns if we can find a way to comunicate
Super nice rifle congrats. Unbelievable that the box is in good shape? I have two Benjamin/ Sheridan C9 20 caliber rifles both nickel finish , also two Benjamin 342 's . Store them with two pumps . My C9's have a butt plate with a white spacer . Growing up my friend had a Blue Streak , man it had so much power . Most of the time I would help him pump it , great memories .
I’m wondering what I have as I can’t find anything on it I have a old 392p nickel in a 22cal And the serial # starts with i and it’s stamped Benjamin air rifle co Racine WI and help would be great
Beautiful example there. I still have my racine, WI serial V 397p, a gift from my father when i was about 12 years old, and still in pretty nice condition. I have kids of my own now including a 7 year old boy who is interested so im planning on doing some maintenance to the old Benji and also have a project Crosman powermaster i got in non operable condition for free. we just replaced the pump cup seal in it and the pump works now but still not working right yet. Maybe i need to rebuild the valve. Anyhow what oil do you recommend for air rifles? Anything around the garage work or should i pop for the Crosman pelgun oil?
Thans Chris. Great Benji to pass down in the family! As to oil; Yes, to the Crosman oil along with Mac 1's "Secret Sauce" . Motor oil would not be my first choice. Thanks for taking a look at the vid. 🙂👍
If it holds air, you could leave the valve in the middle alone and do a front end rebuild. It's likely the piston seal has worn from pumping or perished. You'll need a 3/16" roll pin punch to knock the two pins out (spray some wd40 on to help them come out) pull the end plug off and then the pump arm, clean out the tube and fit a new rubber piston seal. They just pop on and off.

These are great rifles. They are pretty much the same as sheridan .20 just in .177 (397P) and .22 (392P)
Thumbs up for the full screen video brother.
For sure. I made one however that's upcoming that was shot that way but for some reason uploaded vertical. Sorry in advance if you look at that one.
