    So happy i found this video. I'm working on my first Standing Impkin (ive made many sitting) and I was a bit thrown back with the "belly" haha I came to the internet to see if I was the only one thinking it was a little strange in the positioning haha glad I am not the only one. I may make mine pants as well.

    Hi Cassandra! I enjoy so much when you talk about a designer and or a book! This was no exception, even if impkins are really not something on my list! Concerning the slst, ch 1, I dont do those patterns anymore, or do as you ( and others!) did, just work in the round. I think, except if you have colors changing in your piece that needs to be very regular, strait (and not inclined..) there is absolutely no obligation to do that. I always thought I was the only one who was having wrong stitch count with those slst ch1 !!!!!😆 Also I agree with you too, its so fun to discover new youtubers that we love and enjoy, and The rumimillcrochet is certainly one of my new favorite! She's funny, but not only. She has great content she's smart, talented, can have a wide range of subjects, and can be serious too., etc. Everythig I love about a channel!
    Talking of new channel, go check this one out, this lady did a Fun game with her Impkins book! ( And wish that she continue to make more videos on her crochet amigurumis after those 2 videos!)

    SO with you on the ‘sl stitch, ch1’ thing! Drives me crazy 😅
    High-five fellow continuous rounder! 🙏😄
    I can’t get over the cuteness, Cassandra 💕🫠 He is flipping adorable. Those pants 🥰!!
    Far out, a 6 stitch neck is miniscule 😳
    I was wondering how his head was able to stay upright 😂 Great thinking using dowl 👏
    That positioning of the circular join for the legs is so odd. The same joining technique is used in the ‘Dress-up Amigurumi’ book I have been using, but the joining circle is definitely not positioned like that on those characters. Perhaps it’s the size… but no that shouldn’t matter… 🤔 sorry, just thinking/typing out loud here 😂…
    Bravo to your son for walking past when he did 👏 the pants are actually my favourite part ❤

      I am working on one of those dress-up amigurumi patterns as we speak, but I'm so traumatized by that round connection from the impkin, that I've left it out completely on this one, and adapted connecting the legs without it 🤣🤣 But yeah, the placement is on a very different place on the impkin 😳🙈

      I like both slip stitch, chain 1 and continuous round. I find that the continuous round can look a bit 'uneven' in the front on smaller makes (the single crochets are off set) which is why I like the slip stitch, chain 1 method. Both have their pros and cons and I do use both.

    Oh my goodness, your little Impkin is soo cute! I definitely agree about the body. For something that looks so simple, I feel like it is really over complicated to make. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The end result is adorbs and worth it though lol I know I'll make more, but I think I'm just going to connect the legs and see what happens. I think the face is cute, but I kinda just want it to be straight forward no weird shaping and just let the accessories shine. I do love those pants and I definitely will be stealing your idea for future! That yarn is on the list of wants too, I just love the colors, and I look forward to seeing your projects with it! 🤗🥰

    Hi Cassandra! Just rewatched. Have now made an Impkin and refused to make The-Part-That-Shan't-Be-Named. I saw what the row count was supposed to be and made increases in the front to fill out the belly. Crocheting should not bring up memories of health class.
    I did torture myself, because it seemed a good idea, and used this beautiful bulky yarn that looks mushroom-ish but used a 3.5mm hook. Yes I did. And I have a very tight tension. It is still waiting for the top of its head to be done from over a month ago.
    Your pants solution is really cute -- if you don't mention the .... you know .... no one is the wiser. (Except for us)

    For something this easy, it probably doesn't matter as much doing the pattern exactly as Megan wrote it (i.e. slst, ch 1). She does explain both why she does the patterns that way and how exactly to do her stitches in her Crafty Intentions You Tube channel. Those really helped me both understand why (I also just worked in the round for my first Impkin). I would think for her mythical beasts patterns, the shaping would be far more important. But, of course, it's up to the stitcher what they want to do. I do recommend her videos though, for the explanations of her special stitches.

    • @craftablyeverafter
      @craftablyeverafter  Рік тому

      Hello Carol 🌸 I will for sure have a look at her youtube channel, as I will definitely be making more impkins 😊 I am still not a fan of the sl.st l, ch 1 join, so will probably continue skipping that part. But I certainly agree that on a bigger project like the mythical creatures patterns it would have an impact on the shaping.

      That belly piece haunts me 😅😅 Julie (ksmomcrochets) has a great tutorial on her channel for a similar body to the impkin, but without the belly. She made a doll body, but that can fit the impkin accessories. It will definitely give you an idea of how to avoid that belly patch altogether 💕

      Have you reached out to Megan Lapp? The designer who wrote the book?

    I recently got this book and am working on my first body. I kind of started out of order and made the Cthulu tenticles first because I wanted to see what they are like. I'm now currently at the part where I have made my 2 legs, joined them and I also find the little round belly piece wierd. Also because I just flipped to the legs (aka body style 2) I wanted and started crochetting it suddenly starts talking about a belly piece and I was really confused...especially with a book like this that is not meant to be sequential it would be great if they had a small reference (see page x for belly piece if you haven't made it yet). Spent way to much time trying to figure out what was going on, finally realized it was from 3 pages before.

      The idea of the book is great, but I also found it a little confusing.

    I’m currently working with this pattern - mine also has a little “hoo-ha” in a rather compromising place…. Beyond that- I REALLY WISH there was a video to help explain how to create the mushroom hat - it’s been 3 days, and I still haven’t been able to figure it out…

      I had such a laugh at the word 'hoo-ha' 🤣🤣🤣 That specific piece gave me such a headache... This book is certainly quite a challenge at places.

    Your impkin is so adorable and I love the pants! And would you share how you made the pants for him?

    • @craftablyeverafter
      @craftablyeverafter  Рік тому +2

      Thank you 🌸 The pants are very easy to make. I made a chain long enough to go around the body, then connected with a slip stitch to make a ring. Then I just crocheted several rounds of single crochet, long enough the reach the point where the legs start. I then divide in the middle to have 2 even sides for leg pant, and crochet a further 2 round on each side to shape pant legs.
      I will also explain in a next video 😊

    Awesome little doll, Happy you have fallen for a new yarn. I especially enjoyed working with scheepjes Soft Fun.

      I completely get that the Impkin patterns are not everyone's taste. But I love the look of the books. I probably won't ever make anything from the first book (the one with the dragons etc), but I like having the books 😜

      Hello Girls! Caroline, You are not the only one: even if I surely can see the quality of this book, and the potential cuteness that a lot of people will have looking at those little creatures, this is just NOT my type of style! But, that doesn't mean am not curious about what everybody make of it and have to say about it!!!😉

      Thank you 🌸 I haven't quite made another one from the book yet, but instead of using the round belly piece, I'll probably just connect the legs by chaining 2 in-between them. My friend Julie (@ksmomcrochets) designed a doll pattern similar to the impkin body size, where the legs are connected without any additional crochet piece. I used that to make a 2nd impkin and it worked beautifully (and all the impkin accessories fit onto it really well).
