water levels at lake powell routinely change 8" to 9" a day during spring runoff. his camping spot and entry location was likely high & dry and far from water when he arrived. water levels could easily have risen 5 feet during a camping trip.

Awesome, love to see people living it up. Its his motorhome, he bought, can do what he wants w/ it. All the people crossing there for fun during weekend, chum it all up and make it harder to pass. Probably went across first time w/ ease. Good thing they left when a big crowd was still there, better chance of people willing to help.
props to that ford! and no the RV isn't ruined, I just needs a good wash, it wasn't deep enough to hurt anything except what may have been in the side cargo boxes
haha, that was pretty funny, no harm no foul. He almost made it too in that RV. Great tow out by the dude in the ford. Nice slow acceleration, didn't spin the tires all bro style, just pulled the motorhome out no incident. Good stuff.
America. The only place we´re rich enough, dumb enough, free enough, and childish enough to do this on purpose. Gotta love it. Proud to be a blessed American. And in good ole´ Utah. Not sure why everyone is so critical of the driver. They aren´t dumb they have a truck all ready to pull it out and knew the water was not deep enough to swamp it.
I bet these are the type of people to bring it back to the dealership with water damage and be like "what do you mean this isn't covered by the warranty."

Ben Headrick Oh I've bought a few off CL before, I live in one, people will lie all the time, especially about water damage, it's ridiculous all the junk people will waste your time or money with on there.
That was stupid but real funny at the same time. The cool and amazing part is when it got stuck, who did they call on to pull it out???? THA BIG BOSS FORD F250!!! And I'm not a blue oval fan but, a ford's got it.
To be clear, you may get away with not hydrolocking it once or twice or more, but if you submerge your exhaust enough times & shut off- especially with a diesel- it can & will suck up water. Again, stacks & snorkles. We learned the hard way north of Hoa Lien in 1968 when a deuce and a half hydro'd on us crossing a river in monsoon season. One last high rev attempt to cross the river, we rolled back, the driver killed the ignition and it kept dieseling- hydrolock.
+Steven Kirby Just depends on what you want, 5th wheels are the largest, but you can tow your vehicle with a class A. It's nice to not need to exit the rig to use the potty, and for me the class A was the best thing I could find for the money. Class A's usually have more built in goodies, like a generator and underbelly storage bays, but they do have their drawbacks like if they break down the tow bills are high because it takes a commercial truck wrecker to move them or sometimes even a lowboy and semi.
Maybe he was back there camping and the lake level rose, then he had to get out or be trapped until the lake dropped, if you noticed there are other campers/motorhomes on the side he is trying to get to. 0:45 shows a few, and many more people on that side. His problem was not paying attention to the lake level, and not getting out on time.
Everyone calling him an idiot, nobody goes 4 wheeling? Alot of people have their motorhomes dragged into these places.. They want to camp in the prime spot, and these rigs are not 4 wheel drive.. Go to Pismo beach and you'll see wreckers pulling these things through the sand.. Just part of the game. I don't think he's an idiot, just didn't get enough of a run. I saw one motorhome get pulled into Sledgehammer off a birm and the front drivers side tire came off the ground.
I grew up getting to travel America in a motor home, we vacationed coast to coast, as a family of mechanics we knew better. Just because you can, Doesn't mean you should.
I was hoping he would have to slide under the front to hook up the tow strap. Well, they provided some entertainment for the crowd and thanks to the poster, entertainment for us as well.
Not as stupid as it seems. He had thought it out before he attempted it. We here in Canada are smart enough to see how deep the water is before we go through, and the guy was smart enough to have a backup plan if he didn't make it all the way.... He didn't sit there spinning the tires like some stupid people would have, if you look at the tires on the motor home when he comes out you will see that there was probably only about 3 inches of mud on the bottom. I bet your the type to tell everyone how something should be done when you have no experience.
Mud bogging? I call it Mind Boggling! Anyone with an obvious $50000-$75000+ motorhome that would even attempt this deserves scrutiny. Sitting in that water even for a few minutes, is the equivalent of a house being flooded. Tanks and hoses corrode, wood floors will get soft and rot, and the metal undercarriage will start to rust eventually. So stupid, when he could have easily drove around. This just pisses me off to no end when people who have things I have dreamed of all my life, just treat them like Tonka toys.
