Defensive player has the same right to any spot on the floor vs. an offensive player without the ball (other than an airborne player who has the right to a landing spot). Stanford player initiated the contact thus the foul is on her. Only a player in control of the ball gets time and distance to move, basically 1 step if not airborne.
