Yeah folks.... we are the baby boomers... and we had the best ever decade of modern music between mid 60s and mid 70s... this music is timeless...!!! what a blessing to be part of it... 😄
You are right ! The mid 60's to mid 70's WAS the best ever era of music. "Green Onions" however came out in 1962, so that was a precursor to the greatness of the era you describe. Of course "Time is Tight" did come out in 1969 so fits right in there ....
LOVE THIS SONG SINCE I WAS KID MY DAD TURNED ME ON TO THIS GROOVE I WAS 6 YEARS OLD, MY DAD WAS A COP IN DETROIT MICHIGAN, HEARD ALL THE GROOVES, THANK YOU ALL FOR YOU, PLEASE CONTINUE, NOW I'M 61 STILL LISTENING TO BOOKER T' S AND THE MG'S
When this came out in the '60's, I got the "45" and played it till it was so worn it sounded like static. This is the best instrumental of all time. So Glad MP3's will never wear out.
Roger Lee Meyzindi Not quite! Time Is Tight' was recorded in 1968 and released in 1969. Perhaps you're thinking of 'Green Onions?' That was recorded in 1962.
First music my son heard as a 6 day old in1972. His father played it and would bounce that baby on hiis knees in time to the beat while conducting with his sons tiny arms.....aah... the memories. Father is now dead but the memories live on in the music❤
LOVE YOUR GROOVES AND JAMMING, SINCE I WAS VERY YOUNG, SIX YEARS OLD, STILL LOVING IT CLASSIC JAMMING, NOW WHEN MY KIDS LISTEN TO YOU THEIR JAMMING THANK YOU YOU ALL, FOR BOOKER T S AND THE MG S.
One of the great melodies of all time; brought out of the ether and given to the world. Beautiful. I remember hearing once back in the eighties or nineties that "Green Onions" was the "coolest song of all time" and not being able to disagree. Thank you Booker T. Jones.
Meine erste Langspielplatte war von booker . Ich war 17 und von da an ein Fan ❤❗❗😄. Wunderbar in der Jetztzeit sind sie immer noch aktuell. Tolle Musik 🎉
Saw him last night in Kalamazoo Michigan. What an amazing show!! Booker and his son Ted played Purple Rain together and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Man, they don't write instrumental tunes like this anymore, don't they? one of my perennial favourites, I used to play this tune a lot when I was younger.
Saw him in April 13, 2016 at Elgin Community College. Outstanding. Remembered cranking up my old 8 track and just playing it endlessly. His version of Summertime is fantastic. Been looking at the pictures after the concert and recalling what a class act he was to all of us there.
I was a senior in High School in 1969 and worked nights and weekends in a pizza parlor. The patron`s played this song so many times on a weekend. I never got tired of hearing it. Unlike "Hey Jude" by The Beatles and "Age of Aquarius" by 5Th Dimension,LOL.
He is certainly a master of the Hammond organ. And I guess he composed many of those hits (probably with with contributions from "the MG's") that made Booker T and the MG's famous. Genius
OOOH what a lovely valve organ and Leslie speaker sound. Notice the thousands of pounds of electronic kit stacked at the back, but they still use the Leslie, they cannot replicate the sound of a rotating speaker in a proper cabinet
If ever there was something as perfect this has to be it spellbinding..class flawless..if you dnt move in any manner whilst watching this well i pity you...
Llevaba mas de 44 años queriendo saber quien tocaba esto. Hoy lo he sabido. Yo escuchaba esta melodia cuando yo tenia 12 años. Las peticiones de radio socuellamos a las 3.30 pm.
the equipment its played on is as classic as the song. In that side box is a rotating set of speakers that gives the vibrato effect at the end of long notes.
Wonder what it would of been like if he had collaborated with with George Benson on this and "Time is Tight". Guess I'll never know. Thanks just the same Booker T
Booker T. Wow! Jonny Weiss 🎶 "Maria" Song UA-cam. Christian Choir joined in. This cannot be beaten. I met Dick Dale & Alice Cooper in Phoenix, AZ. UA-cam
I saw him and the rest of the rest of the MGs on a rare re-union concert in a bar in NYC on February 1999. Amazing! Can anybody tell me the name of that place ? It was in mid Febr.
@@davegarfinkel5251 Thank you Dave. You are right! I even got me a Zippo lighter of that place that night with the logo but that one I lost too. What amazed me the most was that they sounded exactly as if in the 60s. I saw Steve once again 10 years ago in one of the " Blues Brothers" package tours . It was good but nothing like the real thing The MGs I mean.

I agree, I would extend the period until beginning of the 80ies

I’m in high school and this is what I listen to. I agree.
To everyone under 35 .... this is known as MUSIC! fANTABULOUS!!!!
Absolutely, don’t get me wrong, some of the stuff produced on a computer keyboard is ok, but it don’t have SOUL,
One of the songs played at my funeral when my time is done
Mine too
If I would add all the good music into my funeral playlist
It would take 2 weeks to get me 6 feet underground... 😆😂
Yes, time is tight
Absolutely - this is the best - I've booked a cremation , but hopefully, this will get played at some point!

I still have no idea what an MP3 is !
Same here. The MGS would roll the hundred miles To Muscle Shoals to play on certain songs.
Got it on my Seeburg Select-o-matic..one of the first I put in the rack!
Nope, I got it, Green Onions
I hope Book never tires of playing this tune. I'll never tire of hearing it... all the way back to when it first came out!
There's 2 versions; 1967 on a movie soundtrack and the 1969 radio release.
Just happens to be my all time favourite instrumental 😊
Booker T has played this song for over 57 YEARS !
Roger Lee Meyzindi Not quite! Time Is Tight' was recorded in 1968 and released in 1969. Perhaps you're thinking of 'Green Onions?' That was recorded in 1962.
I hope he plays it for another 75
He must be awfully tired!

Was awesome back in 1970 when Booker T & the original lineup played in Oakland CA with CCR!
Oh man this puts a smile my face😀😀

Absolutely the best "house band" ever, what a label Stax was back in the day.
`LOVE YOUR GROOVES THANK YOU ALL

If this music doesn't move your soul, check your pulse.
NO ONE worked a B3 and Leslies any better...EVER!!! Listen to how perfectly he can hold and roll notes. Amazing.
RIP to AL and Donald, Steve and Booker still holding it down 😎
wow....i can listen to him all day long....
What a trip to see Booker T all these years later! It's too cool the way they're all just having fun playing this tune. They sound great.
Saw him last night in Kalamazoo Michigan. What an amazing show!! Booker and his son Ted played Purple Rain together and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Love the way they don't sing a word but their expressions say it all!
Booker T and the B3: nothing better!
Man, they don't write instrumental tunes like this anymore, don't they? one of my perennial favourites, I used to play this tune a lot when I was younger.
Doesn't this just put you in the mood!
Never tired listening to this classic
THANK U!!
Awesome live version, hes still got it!

Love it!
Like Rembrandt with oils, Booker T. is pure genius.
What a class act! I remember listening to this on the radio when I was a kid and dance and pretend I was playing the instruments.
Like going to church. Feels so good.
The man is amazing
And all class
His kid ain't too bad either
I am so glad to meet this video and I recall my teenage years, from Japan.
I was a senior in High School in 1969 and worked nights and weekends in a pizza parlor.

Long live Booker T, & Steve Windwood 2 of best writer and hammond player on earth
Lick this! Oh how I loved the music of the 60’s and 70’s. Got this on a 45 rpm vinyl somewhere. Nothing like it anymore, sadly!
I met him on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise in 2018 and he was awesome and saw him in this past October on the same cruise and still awesome
I was there, fantastic
Never gets old.
Long live STAX.
My heroes!!My childhood dream was to play like Booker T. Jones!! :)
Thanks for posting this oldie! 👍
I wonder how many times that he's played this wonderful piece of music over his life?
At least 20
To contain so very much and to be so very smooth. Really a gift.
I was there that night having won 2 tickets to see the great man live. Great relaxed venue too
OOOH what a lovely valve organ and Leslie speaker sound. Notice the thousands of pounds of electronic kit stacked at the back, but they still use the Leslie, they cannot replicate the sound of a rotating speaker in a proper cabinet

Thank You...
I would love to go back on time to see and hear this song performed live for the very first time😍😍😍😍
I wonder what was the audience's reaction.
The boys are killing it,music to my ears.
My Father was a radio announcer in New Zealand and this track was often played as a "filler" near the top of the hour when the news came on
Super musik😊

the equipment its played on is as classic as the song. In that side box is a rotating set of speakers that gives the vibrato effect at the end of long notes.
Gregg Allman had the same setup
Dynamite!

UA-cam
Now I need some Bali hai wine
In the pocket
There is a really slow intro. Advance to 2:45 to get to the guts of the tune.
Where is Steve ???
I saw him and the rest of the rest of the MGs on a rare re-union concert in a bar in NYC on
February 1999. Amazing! Can anybody tell me the name of that place ? It was in mid Febr.

Where was Steve Cropper?
From the Soundtrack of the Paramount Movie "Uptight"
all this takes is steve cropper an donald duck dunn to make it fantastic
Non vedo Donald Dunn…
The drummer just does not get it. I’m sure he is great, but he is not playing to the song or observing spaces.
Everybody has to do their part to make this thing sound right. The original drummer was tight and right on time. You can tell the difference
Yes I didn't care for his work on this either. Wasn't bad but no comparison to the Late Great Al Jackson may he be resting in peace.
Steely dan
The magically good music of the 60's and the 70's. . Sadly Now it's junk
who the fuck actually talks know what is coming up?
50
Love it!
