In 1988 I worked with Stone Gossard (one of the musicians from Pearl Jam) at "The Bakery" in downtown Seattle. I remember him singing this song at work. He would take the day-old bread to The Union Gospel Mission to feed the homeless. He was always very conscious of social issues and wrote his music according to his heart.

So he sang that song years before it was released for someone who died in 1990?

    • @CynthiaJohnson1ofmany

@@annie-zr9ib yep - you can write a song and dedicate to someone later you know - his band's name at the time I knew him was 'mother love bone'

Thank you again for sharing the wisdom of the tribal people. This song is one of my favorites, and it reminds me of one of my friends who died young and very poor, trying to make his way. It is truly beautiful, the way music can be shared and understood despite differences in cultures and languages. Many blessings from North Carolina, USA.

Good to see that Temple of the Dog isn't completely forgotten.
Definitely had an outsized impact on my generation, for a memorial project band.

Temple of the Dog formed as a tribute to Andrew Wood, lead singer of Mother Love Bone (which would become Pearl Jam) who had just recently died of a heroin overdose. The fact that Chris is now gone as well just serves to further highlight the immense tragedy of the Grunge era of music in the early 90's. It was an entire generation (MY generation) crying out, but not really sure about what. Sometimes it still feels like that, all these years later. Just punching at empty air, angry, but at nothing in particular.

This is one of my favorite songs ever. Sadly, it seems like at least a third of us have zero understanding of it. 😢 I do hope we see the mercy of God soon. In the meantime, the rest of us need to fill in. 7:36 It is NOT A SIN TO STEAL FROM DECADENCE. It is a DUTY.
Thank you brothers. We the people of Earth need to come together to do just this. May God help us.

Tears still sting my eyes when I hear Chris sing and wail. One of the best voices in rock music. Thank you for sharing this song with these lovely, wise gentlemen. Their insight never fails to impress and impact me. Well done, Adnan. Much love from Buffalo, NY USA.

From day one watching your channel its Mr Abdul ( I think you call him Chacha?) that captured my heart for is astounding discernment and purity of heart. I just can't express the amount of respect I have for this man as I far as I "know" him. His presence on this channel has been a blessing.

I would love to see the reaction from them from the song ‘dear god’ by the band avenged sevenfold. It’s a really good song with powerful lyrics. I feel like Abdul Aziz Rind would have wise words about the song, and I think Muharam Khan Bugio would quite enjoy it as well.

A similar poem about the elites is called 'Rogues in a Nation' by Robert Burns. This would be an interesting song (I recommend the cover by Steeleye Span) because the boys will have unique Pakistani perspective on the issue of being 'sold out' by your leaders.

I'd like to see their reaction to some of the heavy heavy stuff. Especially something that might seem crazy but has a good story or motivation. Lamb Of God - Walk With Me In Hell is a good example. Insane but it's a marriage proposal. Parkway Drive - Wild Eyes might seem violent but it's empowering (Do the live Wacken version!!).

you have to have been in seattle back in the late 80's to put this all together, before the so called grunge rage was "Mother Love Bone" rock band far as I was concerned, the band is a whole story in itself but research all that where members ended up so forth . . Andrew Wood was chief songwriter and vocalist, he wrote a song called "Man Of golden Words" in it are the words ... "Wanna show you something, like joy inside my heart. Seems I been living in the temple of the dog". great song really as were all MLB songs... welp, Andy had the worst misfortune one can have, overdose, gone way too soon..
in a Tribute to Andrew many seattle area members formed a tribute for Andy, "temple of the dog" gee where did they get that name? the real gem of that work imho is "say hello to heaven" chris cornell fronts it.... welp, yea one of those songs you never forget and will never be forgotten... RIP Andrew Wood, Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Mike Starr and all those gone way before their time . . it's just not the same . . .
