Tom Martin yes it really does ! I know this was a test using 6 ah batteries but the metabo and dewalt batteries that were used have the larger 20700 cells inside like the eneracer so not a fair comparison as they produce more torque
We did ask Bosch for the Eneracer/Core batery. They didn't have it ready, or else didn't want to send it. They said it wouldn't make much/any difference on the drill. Not sure whether that's true or not.
This is the 5th tile project we've done where we've removed the old tile before installing new tile, and the first one with this tool ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxqqoaX03nrziKwF7Bjjcc71YzLEleMvOS . I want to cry for all the unnecessary work we've done in the past. With this tool, we removed tile surrounding a fireplace, as well as the hearth tile, set in loads of cement, in less than an hour. I highly recommend this tool. It was easy to use, and very satisfying watching the tile literally fall off the wall.
I was once a power tool repairer for CML Tools in the UK. We were Metabo / De'walt and others repair agents and As I used to strip these machines apart, I saw first hand what were good and Bad. Its such a shame that there is little interest in Metabo as these were the tools that were least likely to need repair . ok for general repairs like brushes and bearings / cables etc is one thing but for more complex breakdowns the metabo tools stood up to most of what the user could throw at them. I consider them to be one of the best power tool brands on the market. and very good priced too.
100% agree my dad has a 12 year old drill and all it needed was a new chuck, parts are still available and it is fully compatible with the newest batteries

The weird thing here is that I have this Makita at work, and my colleagues have the Dewalt. They have problems all the time, and they stop working, bad batteries etc. I havent had one problem with my Makita yet. Absolutely love it, and it just reeks quality when you look at it.
[Dwain] Interesting feedback. The Makita is a quality tool. Do your colleagues have a variety of Dewalt drills, or all the DCD996 (keeping in mind the DCD995 looks almost identical, and both look similar to the DCD985)
Cool review. I have that Makita, all great tools for sure, since I've already invested in the Makita platform I've stuck with it, they get used and abused heavily and never quit. I've used a lot of Milwaukee at a different place I worked at, great also but we had to send a lot of drills back for repair and one literally broke in half while I was using it, mind you this was several years ago before brushless etc. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, heck even Ridgid and Ryobi are putting out great cordless stuff, lots of great options. If I could go back in time I might have bought a cheaper brand than Makita but at least I'll have very long lasting tools with Makita.

In my experience, I’ve found that Milwaukee comes out superior in long term, I’ve owned dewalt, hilti, makita, and Bosch. I’ve found that over time Milwaukee keeps itself together exceptionally and holds super well
No way milwaukee outlasts Hilti or Metabo. Milwaukee hammer drills suck! Always had problems with switches, damn chucks, gears sticking, or burning out along with many coworkers. I love the power of milwaukee no doubt about it especially the impacts. Found Hilti far superior in durability!
I have made numerous comments on this review and I feel that, as the guys pointed out Hammer drilling is not such an important factor in a combi-drill. I think Combi's are designed basically as a drill driver that can be used occasionally as a hammer drill. If you are doing a lot of fixing to brick/concrete in a day you wouldn't use a combi-drill. You would use an SDS or similar and use the combi to drill/screw-fix your timber etc to walls.
@@MadMetalShop I've ran mainly Makita and Bosch most of my working life, and some Dewalt, Hitachi, and used Milwaukee. These comments didn't have Makita mentioned so your comment doesn't make sense, but I'll play.. DeWalt die fast, Milwaukee and Hitachi can have some duds but I rate Hitachi before Milwaukee and I rate Makita and Bosch fairly closely. I can't split them other than on that specific tool performance and battery quality. Makita pull more power from their batteries, but Bosch's batteries last longer in my experience. I haven't used Bosch's new batteries though and I it looks as though Bosch is now puling a lot more power in it's 18v range.
Makita did pretty damn good considering it’s the older one of the bunch. I have Dewalt and Makitas. Had the Milwaukee m18 fuel sold it The drill trigger getting stuck all the Fing time pissed me off.
I hear ya Ap A! Milwaukee needs to fix their damn triggers! They either stick, won’t depress, and your finger will get pinched, or the bottom edge will make your finger ache after using it all day. Peace!
Makita is very under rated I bought a drill back at Christmas and love it and I actually just ordered a Makita impact wrench and a Makita ratchet wrench love them can’t wait till they get here and in this competition the Makita was way older so fair play
Thanks for your great review, you guys always good. As far as I know Bosch release new Hammer drill GSB 18V-85 in Australia which improved hard torque as 85nm, can be better working in masonry. Pre order at this stage. And I really wish to see when Bosch Australia can release core 6.3anh battery, that is awesome innovation, guys can google research. Be honest, I did not see too many site workers use bosch (except bosch hammer) but as many cabinet maker, jointer and electrician love bosch, I reckon this should be bosch marketing segmentation for those sort of tradies. I had bosch old GDX18v in past three years carry job everyday, it's robust ,great grip and dose job so well. Love the battery built, compact and longer life. Recently got new GDR metal chuck drill, the best compact drill I used ever. Powerful, short head and light weight. Still very happy stick with Bosch, will see more new tools released by this year.
[Dwain] Yeah I love Bosch, I have a bunch of their gear in regular use. I'm not certain, but I think the model you linked is basically the same as this one, but with their new setting personalisation system. But I don't think it's out year in Aus.
You can order from Sydney tools now only as kit sale not skin sale:) Actually my GDR was purchased from NSW couldn't find in QLD, asked for Trade tool and total tools they only had old version:( Yes both GSB are looks same, just sightly different, newer GSB-85 can be setting speed by Apps and increased extra 10nm for only hard torque, the rest of part are the same.
I think this test kind of misses the point of the Bosch. It has an all metal gear box but the torque is tuned down a little. It also has higher hammers and good kick protection. All these factors together make a very reliable tool that won't kill it's gear box in a couple of years, and won't kill the operators wrists with vibration and twist. Its just a different philosophy on tooling.
I just picked up the DeWalt dcd996 the other week in a combo pack, with grinder and driver, and so far am loving it, it is kinda heavy, but I have smaller batteries if I want lightweight. I've had it for about a week and a half, and used it for 3 days, and the battery only went down one third, if that, which is the plus of that massive battery, but it drill holes in framing faster than many corded drills, and more easily, no complaints so far, except the heavy duty chuck takes getting used to
Awesome bro. I got a dewalt 5 piece flex volt kit 2 weeks ago. Got the 18v drill and impact, 54v grinder, skill saw and recip saw. Awesome kit power beyond measure for cordless stuff.
I'm working in a French factory, we use CNC machines all-day long, for steel, inox/stainless, aluminium. I use cordless drills for holes chamfering, 8 hour a day. Factory running 24/24, 7/7. Working with DeWalt and Milwaukee 18v old version. DeWalt is very good, nice weight, nice balance. Only the batteries are a bit short. For a 8-hour-day, I usually need 4 batteries. I will buy the same tool for home use. It's strong. Milwaukee is the best for me. A bit more weight, more torque, bigger battery. I need 1 to 2 batteries the same time, for the same job. More solid. STRONG, and very reliable, definitely ! Perfect for industry. Only problem, it cost. $$$ I know Bosch, I will not buy it anymore. Wire tools are ok for home use. Wireless Bosch are, in my opinion, not made to last. Hope my English is not so bad, and my explanations can help someone...

Battery Powered Bosch GBH 24 VRE has lasted 20 years for my Dad in trade use. They do have very strong mechanical reliability, its just the batteries, like all drills, that go. It is still as powerful and precise as it was 20 years ago!
Good review. Personally, I like the Milwaukee simply because of the variety of "bare" tools I can get with this line. As a side note, after two years my battery charger burnt out due to my own fault. Took it to the local Milwaukee warranty depot - they replaced it with a new one still in the packaging no questions asked. Thanks for your reviews, always entertaining and informative. The prices you listed are very similar to what we would pay in Canada.
Makita is the ultimate alllrounder if you ask me. Good comfort, good speed (considering its older, newer it would be with the DeWalt and Milwaukee), greatprecision (in terms of the trigger and the way it applies power) and it never lets you down!
This test is a perfect example why torque numbers aren't the end all way to compare tools. The Milwaukee is near what 400inlbs on the dewalt and it can't beat it...
Fusion2016 its because all the companies calculate maximum torque of the motor not factoring efficiency, I’ve used dewalt makita and Milwaukee my entire life and they are superb tools but i will always go with the yellow
Great reviews guy....just superb. I have Hilti and Milwaukee. Recently owned Makita, DeWalt & had use of a Ryobi. The Milwaukee is a bit manic and mega powerful. To use all day I prefer the Hilti every time!! 33 years ago I was given an old corded 110 Hilti te1 by a contractor who upgraded to a te30. It is still working perfectly to this day and still so smooth compared to new DeWalt or Makita. The only downer is lugging around the transformer!😁😁😁
dewalt fan since 1996. updated all my 18v gear when 20 came along. I've had to replace three dewalts in two years. including this hammer drill. always will be a dewalt fan but not the units built in Mexico. bad chucks, bad triggers, and one was a brushed impact that caught on fire. : ) still believe in the dewalt product when it buy it but they can Peter out
I just brought a full flex volt dealt kit from total tools glad I did getting into building for an apprenticeship so glad I went with them plus the look the best Quilty and feel heavy duty
@@superchroma I'm doing some looking around now because I'm thinking of swapping my whole AEG kit out. I have the brushless (mid tier) tools at the moment, having burnt out my brushed circ saw and driver. The drill is crap, has always been crap (worse than the brushed one!) and just carcked it mid job. Still under warranty but I don't have weeks to wait, so I need to buy another drill either way. The diver is okay but unconvincing. The brushless saw has been pretty good, as has the grinder. They get a fair bit of use, but not much that's that heavy, and I do look after them. Or try to. I've still burned out about 6 motors in a few years. So yeah... thinking maybe it's time to jump ship instead of getting in deeper
I like Milwaukee m12 but for the 18v I chose Makita, both are perfect tools for mechanic work. I like light weight tools that are very precise yet extremely powerful. The last thing you want is to restart an engine build from scratch.
Great review.....love you guys! I own the Hilti and the Milwaukee. Although the Milwaukee is all singing and dancing I find my go to drill is the hilti. I have a gen 3 Milwaukee impact and a Hilti SID 4 impact. Again the Hilti is the one I always reach for. Just bought a Hilti te6 a 22 combi hammer and it is incredible!!! Thanks Guys, Dave Sheppard.

I don't ever really comment on UA-cam videos, but I just want to say awesome job on the review! I'm just now getting into the trades, and looking to buy my first Hammer Drill (as well as my first impact driver). Me personally, out of all the reviews and info that I have gathered, I'm most likely going to go either DeWalt, Makita or Milwaukee (though, I do feel like I'm personally leaning more towards DeWalt on past experience and current info research on it). All seem to be fairly similar and all seem to do the job really well though.Thank you for the well done review, definitely earned a sub. from me!
I've used Dewalt in the past. Every time I had an opportunity to use Milwaukee tools on jobs I felt instant jealousy. If your going towards Dewalt, check out Rigid. They are on the same level but offer much better warranties and have greater, positive customer service. Milwaukee M18 Fuel tools are professional grade, you pay a premium but get a premium tool. Other tools like Makita, Bosch, Dewalt, Hitachi and Rigid are best suited for work where more than one user has access to them. If your a one man army, intend to keep your tools a long time and can make the initial investment go with Milwaukee, they won't let you down. Also as an added benefit, you automatically become "The Man" who has the best tools on the job! Totally a win win situation my man!
B H I have all Makita across the board minus 2 exceptions which are dewalt . I am currently switching to dewalt completely for a few reason . They are more readily available , tools and batteries , cheaper also , and I think with the flexvolt capability it’s much more flexible . I have owned all Makita for the past 15 years and they’re great tools but they pretty much been the same in that time . Back then I woulda said Makita > dewalt , but today dewalt is killing all the competition
@@clam741 I still run a standard Makita circular saw because of it's lightweight, dependability and blade reveal. I consider if the best all around framing saw. I have Dewalt power tools I use on framing jobs aswell. Hitachi stick nailers are the best (not that chunky alien green looking one either, yuck!). If I am inside, doing decks, using a jigsaw or a sawzall, I go Milwaukee. My chop saw is a Dewalt and I love it. I also have an impact and a drill by Dewalt that are a few years old and still going.
fatbuddycat the problem is having different brands and therefore different batteries and chargers , I’m making the switch to dewalt from Makita because there are currently a few tools I prefer from dewalt like the 18 gauge cordless nailer and it will enable me to have I set of batteries and charger . Also certain flexvolt tools are interesting
Great video guys. I work at a tool repair shop down under. The brand we repair the most is Milwaukee Not cause there a bad tool and keep breaking but rather there the tool most people have. Though I have done quite a bit of the other brands except Hilti they are straight up replaced at the retailer. So yeah I have a really interesting perspective on the tools. Knowing a lot about the inner workings and designs of the tools. Though I test all the tools I fix to ensure everything is working properly I get very little time to use the tool on a job site as a trade'y would. So my outlook on tools is quite different. But very knowledgeable.
Hilti tools have always been quality, but a little pricey. I still have and use a Hilti TE10 hammer drill that I purchased in 1987. It's now 2019 and it is still fantastic.

I like your review. I personally have only used Dewalt and Milwaukee. Dewalt has an extensive tool line that I like, but I have had problems with the chuck. I have not had any problems with Milwaukee. My employer provides us with our cordless tools so they are not pampered.
nkrumah osei We can talk more or you could watch the video and see for yourself.... physical results dont lie. I HAVE the milwaukee myself and love it, but the dewalt beat it in this
[Dwain]I thoroughly believe the 'max/hard' torque claims of many of these manufacturers are inflated. The Dewalt has the highest 'soft torque' at 66Nm, which is how it cleans up the competition. As said above, watch and you will see.
In other tests, Milwaukee was way stronger than Dewalt, and the Dewalt started smoking in a tug of war, failing to the Milwaukee power and torque. The Milwaukee didnt even get hot.
I think this video has swayed me away from my original choice of my very first power tool for weekend diy. subscribed and watching more! hopefully i have made a clear choice by tomorrow when I head down the store. :)

makita for longevity and my chuck is 100% true the yukiwa chuck is made in japan second to none. is that extra bit off power worth it compared to a drill that will last years. lets not get jst fixed on power and i also own dewalt brushless tools im not stuck to one platform .so no fanboy .great video tho guys keep them up .
[Dwain] longevity is super important,, but we obviously can't test it. some say the Makita is a tank, others reckon the gearbox doesn't last. Depends who you ask.
ALL cordless drills have plastic gear housings, and it's not plastic it's stronger than aluminium and does not melt. The differences are in the gear quality, motor power and electronics.
ellasOLE22 I've been repairing tools for years and NEVER had a plastic housing melt and most tool have plastic/nylon gears.. If a gearbox goes which Makita's did for a while it was the 4 gear mode and it blew actual gearbox up .. not the housings. Only trouble I've ever had with plastic housing was some brands compacts have some movement...(mike)
Home Depot has the Hilti from this specific video for $369 (USD) with the soft bag kit, two batteries, and more. They might have used to cost that much USD, but the newer ones in the States can be found for a lot less than $700.
no surprises that dewalt cleaned up here. I've had my dewalt cordless for years and still smashes it doing this most days of the week, mind the clutch brake has gone now.. i was considering buying the metabo at one stage but i don't think so now. Dewalt will be my next drill after my old heavy slugger finally chucks it in. solid review

I remember when I asked my dad what a hammer drill does, he made me drill a hole into a brick wall at work and I felt my entire body vibrate, almost wanted to laugh because it tickles but its mad uncomfortable 😭
yeah inefficient drilling in brick is just the worst. my first experience was an electric bosch drill and i just burned through bit after bit. thank god for rotary hammer drills.
I thought that Makita drill was a turbo diesel from a kenworth when i got it a year ago as it was so much more powerful than my 7 year old one, and to hear its at the bottom of the pack! When they bring out a new model I'm going to need to head to the gym to hold the sucker.

Oz Tool Talk Everybody gets 'performance anxiety' when these tests come out. It is good to know who has the best bang for the buck at a given moment in time, but the reality is, no professional is going to go hungry as a result of owning any of these workhorses. Some manufacturers are just at a better point in their product cycle.
[Dwain] lol. They weren't a human lifetime, they were a 'tool lifetime' as deemed by Hilti .They didn't use to make the exact years public knowledge as they varied by tool. I get the impression they would have often been around the 20 year mark anyway. They have just opted to make it more clear to consumers.
You guys are great. Always go above and beyond with these comparison videos making them fair and giving some great info. Keep up the good work lads

I have made numerous comments on this review and I feel that, as the guys pointed out Hammer drilling is not such an important factor in a combi-drill. I think Combi's are designed basically as a drill driver that can be used occasionally as a hammer drill. If you are doing a lot of fixing to brick/concrete in a day you wouldn't use a combi-drill. You would use an SDS or similar and use the combi to drill/screw-fix your timber etc to walls.
Yeah I always get the proper hammer drill out even when doing work that the combi could and even though it is a lot slower being leaded

Good test. Still went with DeWalt and have been happy. I wouldn't use a battery drill for drilling into concrete, just get a cord drill for that.
oh man modern battery rotary hammer drills are so good. I haven't used a corded one for ages....

These comments didn't have Makita mentioned so your comment doesn't make sense, but I'll play..
DeWalt die fast, Milwaukee and Hitachi can have some duds but I rate Hitachi before Milwaukee and I rate Makita and Bosch fairly closely. I can't split them other than on that specific tool performance and battery quality. Makita pull more power from their batteries, but Bosch's batteries last longer in my experience. I haven't used Bosch's new batteries though and I it looks as though Bosch is now puling a lot more power in it's 18v range.
I am thinking to buy Bosch GSB 18V-85c with 8ah Procore batts..what do you think mate?i will regret it.
Hitachi are superb. I love my hitachi set and have had nil issues. Also they feel lovely in the hands

I hear ya Ap A! Milwaukee needs to fix their damn triggers! They either stick, won’t depress, and your finger will get pinched, or the bottom edge will make your finger ache after using it all day. Peace!
Makita is very under rated I bought a drill back at Christmas and love it and I actually just ordered a Makita impact wrench and a Makita ratchet wrench love them can’t wait till they get here and in this competition the Makita was way older so fair play
Thanks for your great review, you guys always good. As far as I know Bosch release new Hammer drill GSB 18V-85 in Australia which improved hard torque as 85nm, can be better working in masonry. Pre order at this stage.
And I really wish to see when Bosch Australia can release core 6.3anh battery, that is awesome innovation, guys can google research.
Be honest, I did not see too many site workers use bosch (except bosch hammer) but as many cabinet maker, jointer and electrician love bosch, I reckon this should be bosch marketing segmentation for those sort of tradies.
I had bosch old GDX18v in past three years carry job everyday, it's robust ,great grip and dose job so well. Love the battery built, compact and longer life. Recently got new GDR metal chuck drill, the best compact drill I used ever. Powerful, short head and light weight.
Still very happy stick with Bosch, will see more new tools released by this year.
[Dwain] Yeah I love Bosch, I have a bunch of their gear in regular use. I'm not certain, but I think the model you linked is basically the same as this one, but with their new setting personalisation system. But I don't think it's out year in Aus.

Yes both GSB are looks same, just sightly different, newer GSB-85 can be setting speed by Apps and increased extra 10nm for only hard torque, the rest of part are the same.

I think this test kind of misses the point of the Bosch.
It has an all metal gear box but the torque is tuned down a little. It also has higher hammers and good kick protection.
All these factors together make a very reliable tool that won't kill it's gear box in a couple of years, and won't kill the operators wrists with vibration and twist.
Its just a different philosophy on tooling.

I just picked up the DeWalt dcd996 the other week in a combo pack, with grinder and driver, and so far am loving it, it is kinda heavy, but I have smaller batteries if I want lightweight.
I've had it for about a week and a half, and used it for 3 days, and the battery only went down one third, if that, which is the plus of that massive battery, but it drill holes in framing faster than many corded drills, and more easily, no complaints so far, except the heavy duty chuck takes getting used to
Awesome bro. I got a dewalt 5 piece flex volt kit 2 weeks ago. Got the 18v drill and impact, 54v grinder, skill saw and recip saw. Awesome kit power beyond measure for cordless stuff.
I'm working in a French factory, we use CNC machines all-day long, for steel, inox/stainless, aluminium. I use cordless drills for holes chamfering, 8 hour a day. Factory running 24/24, 7/7.
Working with DeWalt and Milwaukee 18v old version.
DeWalt is very good, nice weight, nice balance. Only the batteries are a bit short. For a 8-hour-day, I usually need 4 batteries.
I will buy the same tool for home use. It's strong.
Milwaukee is the best for me. A bit more weight, more torque, bigger battery. I need 1 to 2 batteries the same time, for the same job. More solid. STRONG, and very reliable, definitely !
Perfect for industry.
Only problem, it cost. $$$
I know Bosch, I will not buy it anymore. Wire tools are ok for home use. Wireless Bosch are, in my opinion, not made to last.

Battery Powered Bosch GBH 24 VRE has lasted 20 years for my Dad in trade use. They do have very strong mechanical reliability, its just the batteries, like all drills, that go. It is still as powerful and precise as it was 20 years ago!
Good review. Personally, I like the Milwaukee simply because of the variety of "bare" tools I can get with this line. As a side note, after two years my battery charger burnt out due to my own fault. Took it to the local Milwaukee warranty depot - they replaced it with a new one still in the packaging no questions asked. Thanks for your reviews, always entertaining and informative.

Makita is the ultimate alllrounder if you ask me. Good comfort, good speed (considering its older, newer it would be with the DeWalt and Milwaukee), greatprecision (in terms of the trigger and the way it applies power) and it never lets you down!

This test is a perfect example why torque numbers aren't the end all way to compare tools. The Milwaukee is near what 400inlbs on the dewalt and it can't beat it...
Fusion2016 its because all the companies calculate maximum torque of the motor not factoring efficiency, I’ve used dewalt makita and Milwaukee my entire life and they are superb tools but i will always go with the yellow

Hitachi anti kick has never failed me once
Great reviews guy....just superb. I have Hilti and Milwaukee. Recently owned Makita, DeWalt & had use of a Ryobi. The Milwaukee is a bit manic and mega powerful. To use all day I prefer the Hilti every time!! 33 years ago I was given an old corded 110 Hilti te1 by a contractor who upgraded to a te30. It is still working perfectly to this day and still so smooth compared to new DeWalt or Makita. The only downer is lugging around the transformer!😁😁😁

dewalt fan since 1996. updated all my 18v gear when 20 came along. I've had to replace three dewalts in two years. including this hammer drill. always will be a dewalt fan but not the units built in Mexico. bad chucks, bad triggers, and one was a brushed impact that caught on fire. : ) still believe in the dewalt product when it buy it but they can Peter out

I'm pretty displeased with their miter saw. They strike me as on par with Ryobi these days. Not for serious use, but just my take.
@@superchroma I'm doing some looking around now because I'm thinking of swapping my whole AEG kit out. I have the brushless (mid tier) tools at the moment, having burnt out my brushed circ saw and driver. The drill is crap, has always been crap (worse than the brushed one!) and just carcked it mid job. Still under warranty but I don't have weeks to wait, so I need to buy another drill either way. The diver is okay but unconvincing. The brushless saw has been pretty good, as has the grinder. They get a fair bit of use, but not much that's that heavy, and I do look after them. Or try to. I've still burned out about 6 motors in a few years. So yeah... thinking maybe it's time to jump ship instead of getting in deeper
I really liked their 6 year warranty, that's what convinced me to go with them... but that's only useful if you can go a few weeks without.

I like Milwaukee m12 but for the 18v I chose Makita, both are perfect tools for mechanic work. I like light weight tools that are very precise yet extremely powerful. The last thing you want is to restart an engine build from scratch.
Great review.....love you guys! I own the Hilti and the Milwaukee. Although the Milwaukee is all singing and dancing I find my go to drill is the hilti. I have a gen 3 Milwaukee impact and a Hilti SID 4 impact. Again the Hilti is the one I always reach for. Just bought a Hilti te6 a 22 combi hammer and it is incredible!!!

I'm just now getting into the trades, and looking to buy my first Hammer Drill (as well as my first impact driver). Me personally, out of all the reviews and info that I have gathered, I'm most likely going to go either DeWalt, Makita or Milwaukee (though, I do feel like I'm personally leaning more towards DeWalt on past experience and current info research on it). All seem to be fairly similar and all seem to do the job really well though.Thank you for the well done review, definitely earned a sub. from me!

I've used Dewalt in the past. Every time I had an opportunity to use Milwaukee tools on jobs I felt instant jealousy. If your going towards Dewalt, check out Rigid. They are on the same level but offer much better warranties and have greater, positive customer service. Milwaukee M18 Fuel tools are professional grade, you pay a premium but get a premium tool. Other tools like Makita, Bosch, Dewalt, Hitachi and Rigid are best suited for work where more than one user has access to them. If your a one man army, intend to keep your tools a long time and can make the initial investment go with Milwaukee, they won't let you down. Also as an added benefit, you automatically become "The Man" who has the best tools on the job! Totally a win win situation my man!
B H I have all Makita across the board minus 2 exceptions which are dewalt . I am currently switching to dewalt completely for a few reason . They are more readily available , tools and batteries , cheaper also , and I think with the flexvolt capability it’s much more flexible . I have owned all Makita for the past 15 years and they’re great tools but they pretty much been the same in that time . Back then I woulda said Makita > dewalt , but today dewalt is killing all the competition
@@clam741 I still run a standard Makita circular saw because of it's lightweight, dependability and blade reveal. I consider if the best all around framing saw. I have Dewalt power tools I use on framing jobs aswell. Hitachi stick nailers are the best (not that chunky alien green looking one either, yuck!). If I am inside, doing decks, using a jigsaw or a sawzall, I go Milwaukee. My chop saw is a Dewalt and I love it. I also have an impact and a drill by Dewalt that are a few years old and still going.
fatbuddycat the problem is having different brands and therefore different batteries and chargers , I’m making the switch to dewalt from Makita because there are currently a few tools I prefer from dewalt like the 18 gauge cordless nailer and it will enable me to have I set of batteries and charger . Also certain flexvolt tools are interesting

Great video guys. I work at a tool repair shop down under. The brand we repair the most is Milwaukee Not cause there a bad tool and keep breaking but rather there the tool most people have. Though I have done quite a bit of the other brands except Hilti they are straight up replaced at the retailer. So yeah I have a really interesting perspective on the tools. Knowing a lot about the inner workings and designs of the tools. Though I test all the tools I fix to ensure everything is working properly I get very little time to use the tool on a job site as a trade'y would. So my outlook on tools is quite different. But very knowledgeable.

Hilti tools have always been quality, but a little pricey. I still have and use a Hilti TE10 hammer drill that I purchased in 1987. It's now 2019 and it is still fantastic.

I like your review. I personally have only used Dewalt and Milwaukee. Dewalt has an extensive tool line that I like, but I have had problems with the chuck. I have not had any problems with Milwaukee. My employer provides us with our cordless tools so they are not pampered.

[Dwain]I thoroughly believe the 'max/hard' torque claims of many of these manufacturers are inflated. The Dewalt has the highest 'soft torque' at 66Nm, which is how it cleans up the competition. As said above, watch and you will see.

In other tests, Milwaukee was way stronger than Dewalt, and the Dewalt started smoking in a tug of war, failing to the Milwaukee power and torque. The Milwaukee didnt even get hot.

makita for longevity and my chuck is 100% true the yukiwa chuck is made in japan second to none. is that extra bit off power worth it compared to a drill that will last years. lets not get jst fixed on power and i also own dewalt brushless tools im not stuck to one platform .so no fanboy .great video tho guys keep them up .
[Dwain] longevity is super important,, but we obviously can't test it. some say the Makita is a tank, others reckon the gearbox doesn't last. Depends who you ask.

plastic housings.....rubbish..........
ALL cordless drills have plastic gear housings, and it's not plastic it's stronger than aluminium and does not melt. The differences are in the gear quality, motor power and electronics.
ellasOLE22 I've been repairing tools for years and NEVER had a plastic housing melt and most tool have plastic/nylon gears..
If a gearbox goes which Makita's did for a while it was the 4 gear mode and it blew actual gearbox up .. not the housings.
Only trouble I've ever had with plastic housing was some brands compacts have some movement...(mike)

Home Depot has the Hilti from this specific video for $369 (USD) with the soft bag kit, two batteries, and more. They might have used to cost that much USD, but the newer ones in the States can be found for a lot less than $700.
@Brandon I said at least this tool, I know other Hilit (gear) is very expensive. They are talking 700AUS aussie dollars.
They can though. The Dewalt breaks in two years, then goes in the trash. The Hilti breaks in 15 years, then gets fixed by Hilti.

I've had my dewalt cordless for years and still smashes it doing this most days of the week, mind the clutch brake has gone now.. i was considering buying the metabo at one stage but i don't think so now. I remember when I asked my dad what a hammer drill does, he made me drill a hole into a brick wall at work and I felt my entire body vibrate, almost wanted to laugh because it tickles but its mad uncomfortable 😭
yeah inefficient drilling in brick is just the worst. my first experience was an electric bosch drill and i just burned through bit after bit. thank god for rotary hammer drills.

I thought that Makita drill was a turbo diesel from a kenworth when i got it a year ago as it was so much more powerful than my 7 year old one, and to hear its at the bottom of the pack! When they bring out a new model I'm going to need to head to the gym to hold the sucker.

Oz Tool Talk Everybody gets 'performance anxiety' when these tests come out. It is good to know who has the best bang for the buck at a given moment in time, but the reality is, no professional is going to go hungry as a result of owning any of these workhorses. Some manufacturers are just at a better point in their product cycle.

[Dwain] lol. They weren't a human lifetime, they were a 'tool lifetime' as deemed by Hilti .They didn't use to make the exact years public knowledge as they varied by tool. I get the impression they would have often been around the 20 year mark anyway. They have just opted to make it more clear to consumers.
Just purchased a Hitachi 18V, great machine / brand.
How do you find the chuck, does it drop bits often?

Why do I watch reviews AFTER I bought the drill? I bought the Dewalt. I guess I'd rather be lucky than good. :P
