  • Railway Modelling - adding & painting details for my OO gauge model railway.
Been making more details for the run down look of the layout. Including signs, bins and oil drums.
    In this video I:
    - Demonstrate how to fit & paint varying items.
    - Demonstrate how to paint rust.
    - Explain the idea of how to make a litter bin.
    - Steam gala with few train movements.
PICCADILLY SIDINGS - PLEASE REMEMBER TO SUBSCRIBE THIS IS A NEW CHANNEL

I also have an N gauge modern era layout based around MANCHESTER PICCADILLY IN UK. Take a look.

Excellent detail! Really enjoyed that thanks. Of course, the most realistic part was trying to photograph Stephenson’s Rocket and then a train getting in the way... 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you Andrew, glad you enjoyed it. Yes I thought I’d include the photo bomb as Id just watched a video where someone waited for ages for particular train only for it to be photo bombed by a DMU, lol

    Hello John
Lovely video showing the details that help bring a layout to life.
One thing I've always enjoyed with modelling is that you can do your own thing... it doesn't *have* to be real life in miniature, it can be about what *you* want it to be. Whether it be signs where you want them or 2 trains running together that in reality would have never done so.
I think you have done a fantastic job as always John!
    Cheers,
    Derek.

Hi John - As always a very informative video and I do like how you did the painting of the figures which is a job i have to do for putting crew into the Andrew Barclay. Do you suggest priming first ? And those barrells really do look realistic !!!
Finally great tosee Rocket make a visit. Oh and well done on the amount of views for the previous video...........Cheers Kev

Thanks Kev, much appreciated. I should of primed my figures, TBH I forgot with everything. I did have to touch up chipped painted quite a bit. Having said that, now they’re in the locos, I can leave them alone now.

Great job John. I don't know where they are supposed to go but I do know the speed signs are only yellow on one side of the numbers. Keep up the good work. I am getting some great tips for when I start my layout in 00.

Thanks Duncan, I’ve since found out they are yellow on one side. I’m happy where the speed signs are. At the end of the day I don’t need to follow real regulations being a model. If it looks ok...

Really like the layout. It's the 'less is more' effect of the back scene area and the grimy 1960s look that 's missing from most 'clean' looking layouts which draws your attention in to the finer details.

Bless you thanks, that run down, grimy, uncared for look is what I’m going for. Yet at the same time a working heritage line struggling for money

    Hi John,
What was the website you got the designs for the barrels from?
Thank you for another great video. Always look forward to getting the notification from both your channels

Hi Michael, any downloadable 3d models usually come from Thingiverse, but... when you put them into the slicer program (cura) check the structure by going through the layers. Some models will not print correctly. There is loads to pick and choose but a proportion havent been constructed correctly.

    • @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445
      @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445  4 роки тому

Yes do, there are loads of things to download, but check the original size there MAY be a problem trying to reduce the size to OO. I suggest check the layers in Cura before you print.

  • @robertstrainset6556

    Hi John,
You have it right detail is king and these new additions only add to the realism so very well done as usual. I would not presume to teach you anything but if I have to couple up a loco to a train I always put something at the back to stop it moving as long as it does not cause a short anything will do just adds to the realism and if the sound loco has a coupling sound in the file I use that two if the loco you are using does not have sound or that file but another one does use that it is very unlikely that anyone will notice. The way you did a run through at the end of what we had seen makes me think you are going to give us all an exam later but it must be the teaching coming out without you knowing. Keep safe and well and concrats on the 9000 one.
    Cheers Robert.

      @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445  4 роки тому +1

Thanks Robert, I bear those ideas in mind. I do normally try to stop the loco at the coaches, must have been ‘off form’ lol. The recap at the end is a teaching trait, we call it a plenary. In modelling I think its good to see the items in situ.

Lovely model, very realistic. Just a tip though: scrap rail would never be left lying in the 4 foot, it would be dragged over to the cess

Hi thanks, I’ve seen scrap rail left all over even on high speed lines. Honestly I wouldn’t have done it if I hadn’t seen it. I have a mate who drives pendolinos and he gives me loads of tips.

    • @hazmat5749

@@piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445 We would raise a close call for scrap even in the cess - tripping hazard; but I dont doubt you. I worked on track maintenance for 3 years, you wouldn't believe the sort of things that went on. Anyway its a beautiful model with some of the best scenery I've ever seen.
