Kid Icarus Uprising is at the top of my list. It is tragic that Sakurai isn’t planning on making a sequel because someone seriously needs to revive this ip now. Even the goofy touch controls are a nice change of pace for a shooter
Uprising was on my short list. It's REALLY rough to emulate, unfortunately, so it'll probably have to wait until I can get a 3DS modded with a capture card, which won't be for awhile yet, sadly.
I too am going back to the 3DS this year even with having next-gen + Switch. There's just so many good games on the 3DS, so many underrated ones, and a good chunk of "hidden gems". Plus it's so much lighter to have on my hand, and play in short bursts! Loved the video and will try some suggestions that haven't played yet. (also a big Pokémon fan here and can't wait for SV)
A few of my favorites on the 3DS: Fantasy Life, Shin Megami Tensei (all of them - especially Devil Survivor and IV), 7th Dragon III: Code VFD (crazy title but great game), Hatsune Miku Project Mirai (criminally underrated) Steamworld Heist (and the Steamworld Dig games), and Etrian Odyssey series (Nexus was a tremendous love letter/send off to the series).
Gasp! How dare you not have Skylanders Swap Force 3DS on your list. I'm kidding of course. If you ever decide to add it to any lists for videos please let me know if you want any info from behind the scenes. My levels were Shimmer Shard Shire (In Crystal Caverns), all 3 of the Undead Fiesta levels, and the last level/boss fight Clockwork Arena. I based many things on movies I love as well as getting extremely mad that my original designs were scrapped for what became the Crystal Cavern levels.
I play 3ds a lot but usually older games like sor2 3d, mega man collections, Pokémon yellow, I have bravely default and link, but ocarina of time I play a lot.
Maybe it's not as good as 3d world but I've beaten Mario 3d land several times, it's fun, charming, and I can get through the whole game pretty easily in 1 or 2 sessions making it a go to if I'm bored and don't know what else to play or I don't want to focus on a story, also the oot remake is arguably the definitive version of the game and is a classic
You know, 3D Land might get overlooked for 3D World, but I'd challenge anyone who thinks it's inferior. It's legitimately one of the best games on the 3DS, and one of my favorite Mario adventures. And I love both OOT and the Majora remakes, great suggestions!
@@SquarePegs unfortunately Majora's mask 3d has some short comings that prevent me from saying it's the BEST version but otherwise I definitely agree and it's still one of the best games on the system
Great video! 3DS is never one I immediately think of when asked about my favourite consoles. I should though - it’s amazing. Such a shame there won’t be a pure Nintendo handheld again.
I've recently gotten back into fantasy life... and am about 200 more hours in since then. Rayman Origins I tried to like the 3DS version, but it really looks so much better on the PS3. Still cool to have portable though.
I remember getting codename STEAM on preorder from GameStop when it came out. Going into it I thought it was a third person shooter, I didn't know it was turn based and that really disappointed me when I finally got the game. I never completed it due to that fact. One day I'll give it a proper playthrough.
It's worth a playthrough, it truly is. But I can completely understand why you'd have thought it was a 3rd person shooter based on the way Nintendo presented it in ads!
Cool to see someone talk about Codename: S.T.E.A.M., I was one of those 31,000 people that bought it and you know what, it's a solid game for sure. I haven't played it in years but it holds its own little spot in my heart, even if I never finished it because I was waiting for my Marth and Ike amiibo to ship from the UK so I could throw them on my team and it took so long that I put the game down and never got back to it haha
Like you said, there are so many fun ds games it’s hard to please everyone. Those are some stellar picks. One of my favs is Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow. Fell in love with it and couldn’t put it down I supposed that’s a DS game and not 3ds 🤪 awww well

Great vid. Glad to see that this wasn't a list of just first-party games. Everyone already knows Nintendo makes great games, so it's cool when 3rd parties and indies get brought up. And you're right about Codename S.T.E.A.M. - great game that not enough people got to check out.
Im a huge fan of the Ubi Arts Rayman games(even the mobile runner ones, they are excellent) but the 3DS port of Origins was abysmal. I highly recommend the Vita version if you can snag that one.

You're definitely telling some facts about Code Name STEAM. It's probably tied with the Zelda games and the Fire Emblem games for my favorite 3DS game and in a way it even outshines those because there's nothing else like it (at least as far as I know) whereas you can always play Zelda or Fire Emblem on other systems. You even nailed the price I paid for it- $12 new.
