Thanks for posting these videos. My childhood was spent on the fender of a super 66 riding along with my grandfather. When I watch these vids, it’s a nice little flashback to a simpler happier time. Thank you

Good info. I just bought a super 55 last year getting it running now and then a row crop 60. Thank you for the video. Good info.

Good overview of the Fleetlines and Supers. If you don't mind, I'll add one point. I have a 1957 Super 88, which is one of the "Improved" super series. It has the red front and back tires. It also has the raised letters spelling "Oliver" on both right and left-hand fenders. It also has the raised letters for "Oliver" and Row Crop on the front and back of the axle housing. What I just learned recently is that the words "Oliver" and "Row Crop" on the axles were not painted yellow, as they were on the Fleetlines. However, the raised "Oliver" on the fenders WERE painted yellow. I have to make that adjustment to mine, as whoever repainted it before I bought it 6 years ago did not paint the fender lettering yellow. I also have an unusual Oliver. I have an Oliver Fleetline 77 that my Dad bought new in 1954. As you know, that was the switch-over year to the Super Series. However, they must have had extra Fleetline frames left over, because our 77 came from the factory with the Fleetline frame, but with a Super 77 engine. My good friend and Oliver mechanic Joe verified that when he rebuilt the engine back in the 90's. We've owned that tractor for it's entire existence, and the engine was never swapped out.

Thanks. Yeah, I couldn’t remember the specifics on the lettering as it’s been a while since I had read up on them.

@@66Oliver I only knew because I read it in either Oliver Heritage Magazine or HPOCA Magazine within the last few months.

Im new to the Olivers. I grew up with 2 cylinder John Deere's 4020s 4010s and later models. A few years ago I bought a Oliver Hart Parr 70 row crop and put it on the back burner. This winter I was looking for another six cylinder diesel tractor to run my PTO generator and stumbled across a Super 77 diesel. I don't like having my 4020 tied up and wife is not happy if I shut down the generator to do other jobs. Prices on a second 4020 was way to much so I bought the Oliver. The guy who owned it is basically home bound. Tractor was used to grind feed for his steers which he sold ten years ago. The tractor and feed mixer was back into the shed left. First thing I noticed when I was preparing to get it started was the oil level was way high. Diesel was leaking through the injector pump and into the crankcase. If you're looking at a diesel, especially one that has been sitting for a few years you can probably expect to drop a $1000 into the injector pump. The seals and orings were shrunk and hardened due to the crappy state of diesel fuel these days.

I have ran into some transmission issues with a 77 and a 66 the bull gears are welded to the centers well the 6 welds crac and the gear can move... but they are easy to work on

I do hear every now and then of transmission issues, but they’re robust otherwise. Sounds like some slight neglect and or age doing it’s thing there.
