Water sources such as streams and rivers were once rich in b12 as well. But now, not only do municipalities destroy naturally occurring b12 at water treatment plants, but they add toxic chemicals such as sodium fluoride when processing it.

Trouble is that these days whilst many people may be able to absorb it they cannot convert the inactive forms to the active forms very well, so whilst they may have ‘plenty’ in their bloodstream, their cells may be starving.
Serum blood tests do not show what us going on at cellular level, nor do they determine how much of the B12 is Active or Inactive. If most us inactive it’s not getting in to the cells & the serum test results are meaningless.
That is why some may need either sublingual liquid drops with both active forms, Methylcobalamin & Adenosylcobalamin, or Methylcobalamin injections.
Just because serum test results may suggest someone has ‘adequate’ levels doesn’t mean their body is actually able to use it.

It would be helpful to post data supporting that all meat has poop in it. That’s a really big deal and I find it very disturbing that meat with poop in it would be allowed into the food chain. I’m vegan so I’m not concerned for myself but when a non vegan watches this it can seem a bit dramatic and misleading furthering the difficulties to explain things to our friends and family about our diet.

First of all, I’ll have to call bs on the statement that every piece of meat has poop on it. That simply is not true and Dr Goldner should take this video down or edit it as this is about the only topic that I’ve seen her blatantly trying to “scare” people away from meat using something other than facts. Also, let’s say there is some microscopic fecal matter on a piece of chicken from the processing - is that going to survive the cooking process? Not likely. The intestinal track is not opened up during these processes so that it is spewing and splattering everywhere. I’m all about the protocol but I think there is a better way to make the point that people should supplement B-12. JMO

I appreciate the info ( and it is logically sound ), but the interesting thing to me is, there is no single study anywhere showing definitely what B12 supposedly does or does not do in the human body. There is no comprehensive analysis on how it supposedly works etc. etc. and plenty of studies with assumptions based upon assumptions. Everything said above is true, and i agree ( which is what i recommend to all people, just eat the plants as they are if concerned about B12 ), but... there is no study anywhere that actually shows there is some relevance for B12 doing something important, or not doing something important in human body ( another one of those things ). Just sharing

I don't mean to be harsh but I don't even know where to begin with this video and those comments like yours. I just discovered this channel moments ago. There is too much to say so I'll come back to comment in length as soon as I can. B12 is critical for brain development and it's impact on mental health (along other key components and functions such as DHA and EPA) cannot be understated. This has been fully demonstrated over the course of the past decades. For example, Dr. Georgia Ede and Dr. Chris Palmer who are experts in neurology and psychiatry including nutritional psychiatry have a few lectures online about that. I do know this as a practising clinical/research scientist myself so your statement that "there is no study anywhere" is absolutely astounding. I noticed another video of hers entitled "Meat, Eggs, Dairy are killing your kidney". That's a misunderstood concept that dates back to a poorly performed research. I commented on this on another video so I'll paste it below to save time. That tells me that this channel should absolutely think about updating their clinical knowledge while keeping an open mind on new advancements in the field of nutritional science.
"@fergusdenoon1255 Care to explain the science behind your statement? What is the biochemical mechanism through which fluid retention, fatigue, decreased appetite and gout happen on a meat based diet? Are you trying to say that the purines and pyrimidines from meat automatically cause gout? Do you understand how gout and fluid retention develop? And what do you mean by foamy urine? Are you trying to say that a healthy unprocessed meat diet is bad for the kidneys and will damage your nephrons therefore making you leak protein? Protein is not a cause of kidney damage. If you already have kidney damage there is evidence to show that you might want to reduce protein intake not to burden the excretory process of protein by products that naturally happen (e.g. ammonia) but eliminating or even drastically reducing animal based protein for the elderly factually results in poorer health outcomes. That idea came from a poorly designed experiment in the 80's by Dr. Brenner from the Harvard university (I think that was the name). There are no records as they were not digitised and destroyed at some point (That comes directly from Dr. Bernstein who was his colleague at the time and stood against his research). The rats he was using were given glucose at a "diabetic" level with a control and a high protein group. Following another experiment, he realised a while later that it was the glucose that caused the kidney damage and not the protein (that's due to glycation, ROS and inflammation. Think of vascular damage/organ failure that we KNOW happens in uncontrolled diabetes leading to kidney disease, retinopathy etc and you'll get the idea. I'll touch more on this later). He had to retract his first research. While his first publication made the news all over, his second findings and retraction went completely under the radar. The problem is that the notion of "high protein causing kidney damage" had already integrated the medical community and has persisted since. There is not research to this day that clearly establishes protein as causative in kidney damage. That shows how pervasive fame and research publications can be. There is little or no accountability in our field of work with regards to that.
I suggest you look at Dr. Richard Bernstein's channel and read his book so you can learn something new. He's an authority by the way (Dr. Bernstein Diabetes University). I would advise people to be careful when giving advice online as it comes with a responsibility.
A healthy unprocessed meat based with healthy fats/low carb diet done right is one of the best things you could do to improve your metabolic health. Sure some people may "feel" better with a bit of fibre with regards to bowel movement maybe but it's not a general rule. Fibre is also causative in gut issues such as IBD/IBS among other issues. The microbiome can feed on amino acids from a meat based/low carb diet just as well in the absence of fibre and produce the necessary fatty acids to support your mucin layer, your tight junctions and your gut immune system (Peyer's patches with the TH17 lymphocytes/IL17 cytokines. You can have a perfectly healthy gut and metabolic health on a low carb, low to zero fibre, animal based diet. That has been demonstrated in communities such as the Inuit. People are just finding it extremely difficult to depart from the biased and wrong science that has been perpetuated over the past few decades. Science changes based on evidence. Most are just refusing to acknowledge it as it's so drastically different to what we were told for years.
Videos such as these can confuse many but what worries me more is that even bigger channels such as Medcram are increasingly pushing that "anti meat and anti low carb" narrative out of pure ignorance and bias based on ideologies and vested interests. I commented on one of their recent videos supporting an "anti low carb" publication. They chose one of the most invalid and poorly designed research to push the narrative....and those are groups of qualified doctors and clinicians!. I do trust in my peers on other channels such as "Low Carb Down Under" and "Public Health Collaboration" supported by real experts who share a code of ethics. I strongly suggest you go have a look there. One doesn't have to agree with everything there but at least they have a honest approach to medical science and nutrition and are aiming at getting as close to the truth as possible." END OF MY PREVIOUS QUOTE.
You are not fully to blame here due to COMPLETELY BIASED clinicians like this one spreading such an unbelievable amount of poorly understood and carried out research/science. It's nearly impossible for the masses to make sense of or interpret all the science and statistical tools used in research publications. It takes a level of expertise to be able to critically review those. This is why scientists like myself are able to give a completely different opinion from the common "mainstream" narrative. They focus on half-truths to nudge research data interpretation in the direction of their own bias and ideology that has nothing to do with science. Keep in mind that easily around 50% of research publications are completely unreliable with next to no scientific value due to conflict of interest and rampant corruption in the field of research due to funding (research outcomes have to lean towards the current governmental/climate narrative for e.g. for funding to be provided), reputation, prestige (universities fall behind if they don't churn out a number of publications per year irrespective of research ethics etc). You should do BETTER research as your statement demonstrates that you are sadly stuck in an echo chamber due to channels like this one. Keep an open mind for your own sake and those you care about. I would suggest the "low carb down under" channel as I keep mentioning in my other comments as a quick example of what unbiased and evidence-based science should be unlike what you are getting here. Some of her videos beggars belief so I'll try and dissect those as soon as I get a moment.

@@youbeever this comment made me realize how those people must feel whom i have bombarded with long messages without substance. Had you put an example of research with a/b groups of 50-100 people with same diet ( plant based, fully washed, tested for b12 amounts ) with and without b12 supplements, and monitored and verified to be reliable, that is what would have been convincing. Now it is late for you to start to google for anything to base your assumptions... also you did not state anything as to why and how you think this has been proven, which is key. So thank you anyhow... i realize what bs i have been doing to others sometimes, and this really helps me remember not to ever do that again ( genuinely, thank you - although you may think this is a joke but thanks, this came at the right time )

@judiinthekitchen I would suggest that you have a look at other channels such as the Metabolic Mind, Levels, Diet Doctor, World council for Health, Low Carb Down Under among many others. They are known for their ethical approach to science and are among the least biased of all the online resources I have come across so far during my years of practice as a clinical/research scientist.
I appreciate what you say about the bias in the medical/clinical/scientific education system. That's absolutely true. I am not sure though that you are aware of how biased the pro-plant based agenda is as well. I am quite surprised that in spite of your master's in nutrition, you seem to be against a healthy, unprocessed animal based diet in favour of a WFPB diet. Or did it get that wrong? I certainly believe that a WFPB diet can be part of a healthy balanced diet INCLUDING animal based diet and that's where our opinion differ. It is astounding to me that the extreme of a plant-based diet only is supported by many while the inclusion of an animal based diet which is the most bioavailable source of nutrition that has been the driving force of our evolution as a race is now frowned upon all in the name of "health and climate change". Paleopathology also clearly demonstrate the critical importance of an animal-based diet in human evolution and brain development and for OPTIMAL health. I would suggest the lectures of Dr. Michael Eades on that.
There is too much to say about the difference between plant-based and animal-based diet and the relevant impact on metabolic health, mitochondrial function, brain function, insulin resistance, cancer, atherosclerotic plaque formation/high blood pressure/heart disease via inflammation and hyperinsulinemia, autoimmune disease, IBS,IBD and all the other inflammatory diseases that have drastically increased since we reduced our healthy meat consumption and animal based fats in favour of a plant-based/carbohydrate/fructose/vegetable oils/lectins/oxalate/phytates rich diets. So I'll try and elaborate in length on each of those subjects later. Keep in mind that although death from cardiac diseases may seem to have decreased based on some studies that attribute it to a decrease in consumption of animal food/fats, the incidence of heart disease has continuously INCREASED downstream of a corresponding increase in metabolic disease. A decrease in cardiovascular death is most likely due to better clinical/surgical intervention rather than reduced animal fats. Around 10 and 20 million die of cancer and heart disease respectively worldwide every year. There are now about 50 millions with Alzheimer (among other degenerative disease) worldwide at any one point in time. Cancer is at an all time high. Is it purely a genetic condition as once thought or is there also a metabolic link that mainstream science is completely ignoring or missing? What is the driving CAUSE of all that? What is the impact of a high carbohydrate/processed food diet (including anti nutrients such as carcinogens as is a SOLELY plant-based diet) on mitochondrial function/insulin with regards to cell growth, apoptosis (programmed cell death) and general proper cellular function and DNA repair mechanisms that would usually kick in to protect against uncontrolled cell proliferation? (i.e. cancer). Are we looking at the real cause of the problems or just treating the symptoms with medication and ideologies?
In spite of the many publications supporting the narrative of this channel, I'll put forward as an expert in the field myself (along with a plethora of other experts in their respective fields who support my view) that there is absolutely no UNBIASED evidence to suggest that an animal-based diet is CAUSATIVE in disease. Although we definitely need better farming (it's now also plagued by profit margins with horrible animal conditions, hormones etc therefore affecting the quality of our animal-based diet and it's impact of the environment...fully in agreement on that), there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that ethical and good farming is more hurtful for the climate compared to the fossil fuel industry, agriculture, industrialisation in general and all the processed-food factories producing plant-based alternatives. We have been farming since the dawn of civilisation and it's a critical part of the maintenance of topsoil. The meat industry is clearly being targeted as an escape goat to fit the current narrative. Removing animal farming will certainly barely impact co2 emission compared to the above. This is VERY CLEAR from evidence-based science but the problem is that the REAL data is being kept in the dark. It takes a level of expertise and an unbiased mindset to go find the figures that are the closest to the truth. Professor Frank Mitloehner who is an expert on the matter of climate change has really good information. I would suggest you look at those links if you are truly in search of what both side of the arguement have to say and what's closest to the truth regarding an animal-based diet and the climate.

I am also going to paste a reply I just made on another video on this channel. Have a look at it when you have a moment. I do hope that helps put a different perspective on the matter as science is never settled and we always need to keep an open mind to paradigm shifts.
