I'm currently on a gap year. After graduation my plans didn't worked out and with this pandemic. I learned So much about myself this year and wouldn't have it any other way! Feels great to have just a year to myself and truly learn about things that I'm passionate about. Life is not a race.
That's awesome Ellona! That really resonates with me. I felt like time both slowed down and went by quickly during my gap year, where there was somehow so much time for self-discovery and play but it also flew by. Hope you've had opportunities to continue that self-discovery after your gap year. And apologies for the super late response - really didn't mean to neglect my messages. First job after the gap-year was ... intense .. so had to take some time off from UA-cam, but back now :)
I'm 56 years old and planning on taking a break by switching to a part time job in 2023. The problem with older people over 45 taking a break is it's harder to get back into the job market due to ageism. If I could redo my life, I would have taken breaks everyb 5-8 years. It's good you're doing this now as it will be easier for you to get a job you age. Good luck and enjoy life when you're still young with less obligations.
I am a senior in college and am experiencing intense burnout. Was thinking about taking a gap year before law school, but my parents somehow thought I should instead pursue a master's degree if I so desire to travel and study abroad, like in the U.K. And now I am keeping my GPA, doing applications, and prepping for the LSAT all at the same time. This gives me a surreal and bleak self reflection that up until this point, I've been chasing "recognition" and "achievement" without paying much attention to what I like to do because they are usually at the bottom of my priority list. And to some extent, my inner child never really grow to accept and respect myself fully. I wish I have your courage and confidence.
Hey Jacqueline, sorry for the late reply here, but really resonate with your message here. It's something that I've struggled with before and know many people around me who do as well, especially those who grew up in environments where there was a lot of pressure to achieve material success. It sounds like you're going through a tough patch right now, but I have faith that you're moving in the right direction and that it'll make sense in the end :)
Watching this and I'm reflecting on my own time in the monastery. Definitely can relate to a lot of what you said. Silent week was painful but temporary.
I remember during silent week, in the walking meditations before the sitting ones, how much I'd dread going back onto the cushions. Painful for sure. But hey lessons learned 🤷🏻♂️
Hey dude, just found your channel and I love it. I really hope you make more content, as I’m about to graduate college and feel a similar pressure to rush into life. This video helped ease that stress a bit. Cheers from Wisconsin, hope all is well.
Thanks Matthew! Even after a few years out of college, that pressure to rush into life is still very palpable, so I appreciate opportunities and reminders to slow down and appreciate life. Hope all's well on your end! And apologies for the much belated response - really didn't mean to neglect my messages. First job after the gap-year was ... intense .. so had to take some time off from UA-cam, but back now :)
Thanks John! Those long sits were absolutely killer on the legs. I'm glad to hear yours are back to normal now. Even now I almost always meditate with a chair.
That ending was so smooth😂 can't wait to see the next video! I really love your channel and this one really made me wanna experience what you did myself!
Dude, I totally relate to what you said about feeling the same after finishing college and not feeling like an adult. I graduated into the peak of the pandemic so I couldn’t travel too much but I was able to go back to my home country and be a teacher for low income kids for a year. After my gap year, I got full funding for a Master’s program I really enjoy and have a great summer internship lined up. Look forward to your future content!
Great content, great editing, we need more! Different and inspiring. You got yoursefl a new subscriber waiting for as long as it takes for a new video. Congrats!
Oh, l love it! Watching this video, make me remind the life of South Shaolin. And I think I will also have a gap year because of the Convid-19. (I'm not sure ) So, I can learn a lot from your video. LOL

Great Video Jacky! It took almost a year for my knees to get back to normal. Wished I asked for a chair like you did.
